You probably know this already but the only other bit of Araby lore that I can think back to is that one of their sultans at one point was named 'Jaffar', who summoned genies to maintain his power. Also, apart from being where Clan Eshin was trained and where Grimgor wrecked the 'Dragon-Fleets' or whatever, Nippon is also known for having characters called 'Sanyo Kawasaki' who wields a sword called 'Toyota ', and his dear friends 'Nissan' and, I shit you not, 'Honda Suzuki'. And that's not even mentioning the 'Pygmies' Jesus Christ!
All of those Nippon names are real Japanese names except for Nissan. Them being car companies is funny but Honda and Suzuki are not uncommon names in Japan. Toyota is named after the founding Toyota.
Bruh, do you have any idea how amazing an Araby built around a literal Sultan Jaffar would be? That shit would be harder to get than the ps5 on launch day.

I think one unaccounted for lore con for the Old World is that is it SO jam packed with stuff, there is little room for making something new. "Oh you want to create your own homebrew force within the Empire? Sorry, that small plot of land is actually occupied by Sir Shittenfarten, Twelth of his name." Now since it is a prequel this is less of an issue than the old fantasy setting, but it's still far harder to insert your custom force or custom campaigns in such a small (comparatively) world that already has a lot of lore.
It's a _little_ bit easier with things like the Bretonnian Exiles list, and with the standard Bretonnian colour schemes now trending towards 'single royal and his household', but it's still pretty awkward to find space.

8:00 the dwarfs still mastered the winds of magic. Instead of channeling it through people (which is highly volatile and dangerous), dwarfs bounds the winds of magic in the form of runes. This mastery led to creating of protective wards that could dispel magic within an entire city or fortify city walls to enchanting powerful armors and mighty weapons, including one of the most powerful weapons of the Old World... I appreciate you correctly calling it "The War of Vengeance" and not "The War of the Beard". If the Dwarfs get *anything* for winning that war, it's naming rights.

Howdy Mr.@PancreasNoWork. I've been a big fan of your videos for a while now. They remind me of the humor from old 1d/4chan where I'd originally read up on Warhammer lore. (I know you don't like Khorne on tabletop, but it would help some of us Daemons players who like mixed daemons). .Hedonites of Slaanesh. .Death Guard. .Leagues of Votann (not sure if you'd covered them, and I know they're newer, but hey). .Necromunda .Sisters of Battle. These are merely suggestions however, I do enjoy your videos so keep up the good work!
Yeah his sense of humor reminds me a lot of those old pages I used to read all the time in high school. Shame 1d4chan is dead for good this time, it served many a neckbeard well over the years.

If you're having problems gluing you metal minis together, you can scratch up the connection points with a knife tip or file. That helps them glue together a lot easier.
I had the OG Tomb Kings, and I couldn’t help but fear the future. Given that it’s GW, and what they did to my sigmarines, it’s a fear that doesn’t leave me
I feel like one of the things that would make Old world super easy to adopt is if people are chill with using AOS and Middle Earth Models, it could save money as well as allow cool new miniatures for people to use, rather than the outdated ones.
From a Beastman fan, we’re used to being disappointed. Besides, all the models were Fantasy anyway. I’m just glad I never finished my army so I don’t have to change bases and can set them up immediately to square bases.
This video makes me want to kickstart my Old World army(ies). Was going to wait for the Empire and see if a majority of them would keep their pre-Cities army refresh prices (most were under $35), but maybe speed up getting square bases for my Beastman and finishing them. So many decisions to make and all thanks to this video.
@@whatevernotmatter18347 She's a vtuber. Her fans, or rather the more demented fans among them, used an ai voice model of her to have her do... things, with horses.
Metal models require more prep than plastic. Lots of soap + water + toothbrush. You will also need to pin many metal parts to one another, otherwise many bonds can be strengthened by hiding some tissue/toilet paper in a space between them as a "cement/grout" between the parts. Superglue + baking soda is also amazing, but will leave a messy texture so should be used for gap-filling in less-visible parts of the model. Putty is also your friend. Good luck! PS: Painting metal is not unpleasant if you correctly clean/prep and *prime* the model. The only issue is how easy the paint is to chip off... but the solution to that is good varnish.
I think it's more they allocated the bare minimum amount recourses to get it out the door I imagine the success will motivate then to invest more and make more new models
I will say aos chaos dwarves seem pretty likely in the future, which might be why they're legends- like the demon, lizardmen and skaven. (coping wanting a good aos dwarf faction)
"Bretonnia is Bad" is the only opinion of his that I don't agree with, I feel like it has potential and he's looking at the army at face value (and GW kicked Bretonnia in the balls way too many time in WF)
Fun Fact: At one point in old lore, it was hinted that 40k and fantasy was the same setting. Lustria once had Amazonian ladies welding "high age artefacts" such as lasguns.
My only hope is that the Old War brings more nuances to Chaos. The original Warhammer fantasy Chaos Gods were actually complex. They weren’t one-sidedly evil. You actually saw the good sides of the chaos gods. Khorne had a WIFE and wasn’t a mindless butcherer. He preferred blood to be spilt in battle rather then in the massacre of defenseless civilians.
Wait Khorne had a *WIFE?!?!??!* WHAT’S NEXT, THE CONVENIENT ELVEN GODDESS AND/OR GODDESS OF HEALING THAT GETS YOINKED BY NURGLE OR SLAANESH AND DOESN’T GET USED AS A SEX TOY OR INFINITE DISEASE TESTER?!?!!?
I remember Old Khorne. I much prefer that one. Hell, I still pretend that Old Khorne _is_ the current one whenever I play a Khornate character or army in any Warhammer setting. The old Khorne (don't know much about how the other Gods were around that time) just felt so much more _interesting._
@@mortarion9813 The more I read about Fantasy chaos, the more I understand why some people in the setting would be attracted to that religion. In 40k, it baffles me how Chaos managed to attract so many followers. Chaos in 40k is so over the top evil that at times it makes me wonder how it is so prevalent. Some have argued that the reason why it’s popular in the 40k lore is because life in the Imperium of Man is so soul crushingly miserable that people turn to 40k chaos in order to escape the pain of having to live in it. I’m
The idea that Khorne was ever anything but a mindless butcher is a meme. Literally the very first time he is described in the Realm of Chaos books, it is as a mindless berserker obsessed with death and blood.

I accidently came upon this video. Damn I didn't know Warhammer fantasy was gone. I haven't played since my daughter was born 12 years ago. I'm gonna pick up these rules and dust off my old armies; Orcs, Dwarves and Wood Elves. Yep 3 full armies, that how much I was into Fantasy. Do they still do Gamesday down in Baltimore? I forget which year I won their fantasy tournament it was either 2005 or 2006 with Wood Elves . Good times!
Its really cool to hear you going on about how you thought you'd missed out on fantasy because i was in the same boat, only got into warhammer during 2020
I'm grateful that I'm taking Orcs instead of Tomb Kings. I even managed to start it by buying the Bonesplitterz units. Though mostly the savage orcs and two shamans were on the Warhammer site since the pigs and Big Boss were already out of stock, I did get the Big Boss through other means, thankfully.
In relation to the War in Heaven, I have a question for you as well as anyone who wants to answer. Do you think that writing what happened would benefit the setting or worsen it? My main concerns are this: 1: This is the company that wrote the Endtimes but also turned the Horus Heresy into basically a breakdown of "everyone has daddy issues so now we must fight" and I'm not sure I trust them to do justice to something like "the reason everything in this setting came to exist". There's no way anything they do will live up to the hype. 2: I learned recently of a term I have come to like, called the Noodle Incident trope. Based on a small series of comics from Calvin and Hobbes where the author never actually said what the noodle incident was but showed how terrified Calvin was of people knowing about it happening as well as being punished by his parents if they found out. The author noted that any explanation of what actually happened would lower the effect of the joke because the fact we don't know means our imaginations can run wild on what could make Calvin so upset. So the power of the unknown is rather powerful in defining something for us that can turn into personal narratives on how important or devastating something truly was. Could the same principle be used for the War In Heaven, that us not knowing keeps the possibilities open? 3: The movie Han Solo is a full detailed breakdown of all the cool things Han Solo did that he referenced casually in the original films. And all of them are lamer than the implications. Now that we know about it, it also sadly undercuts how cool Han is because we know through a lot of his stuff he was scared, young, and kinda an idiot rather than a badass doing stuff because he knows he's got this. If the War In Heaven has similar stuff for say, the birth of Khorne happening during the War In Heaven, wouldn't that damage Khorne in his modern setting if his creation was kinda just...lame? But these are general questions, I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks. And if you want to discuss them of course but I doubt it. Either way, I'm really glad the Old World is around again. It's good to see these old factions, and I wish it nothing but success.
It makes sense really that old world is doing so well, thanks to total war it’s a setting many new fans (like myself) are very familiar with, and as someone who was introduced to the setting through the total war games I was a bit upset when I found out all the models were either discontinued or marked up to all hell
My favorite fantasy/aos faction is the cocaine rats with laser guns that at best have loose aesthetic ties to WWI......that probably says all it needs to abt how much of a history buff I am, probably won't pick this up but, I'm glad it exists for people who will enjoy it
I always loved how magic works in the the fantasy setting - it's just way more unpredictable and primal, it actually feels like a force of nature. It is thus more engaging than most fantasy setting magic, like DnD, which is basically just 'press X to cast the nearest equivalent of gun' (outside of wild sorcery).
The bear cavalry was something invented by Total War the terracotta were also smaller in older lore. Also it wasn't just Estalia that crusaded against Araby but Tilea and the Empire too. Estalia also has pirates. I also think it's frustrating how they dumbed things down to just good and evil in Old World when it was far more nuanced with good people in surprising places.
Good to see it back. I’m still playing the same warhammer 4th edition I got in the early 90s. I never bothered to upgrade to newer editions. I never saw the point.
One positive that you haven't mentioned is the *extensive* 3dp selection online. The Old World was kept alive through many fan-supported projects, like The 9th Age, the Warhammer Armies Project, etc, and many 3D designers made great versions of fantasy models. If your army hasn't been released but you have access to a 3d printer, go nuts!
I started playing old world on day one, built my skaven army (yeah it's a legacy army idc) and been enjoying it, I really hope it stays around for a long time because this is my first real wargame and some of the most fun I've had, I've tried 40k and aos and there no near as fun
Settra would like to remind everyone that he's not done running over Nagash with his chariot like a Grand Theft Auto civilian yet as Nagash obviously doesn't have enough skid-marks on his face and also has the most punchable face (Barring Manfred, who is also a problem caused by Nagash's face) in the setting according to Settra.
Fuck man, this was a great video. I've been walking the sideline lately about getting into Warhammer as my adult hobby since being enthralled with it as a young teen. Now, 37 and with a mortgage, I think im ready to take the leap into Fantasy Warhammer.
I'm hoping CA just goes with timeline plots and essentially have Fantasy reach the end times but this time Carstein isn't an idiot and the forces of order/destruction defeat Chaos, preserving the world and characters so they can have their wars/conflicts continue with the remnants of Chaos still existing but this time actively have to try to win rather than being given all the god-powers as they are actively cut off from those gods now. They can still have AOS in the "timeline" where chaos wins, and another one where they lose.
People really don’t understand that “parallel realities” and alternative timelines are sort o lowest quality? Look at the REAL WORLD: the Roman Empire fell, the Medieval ended, WW2 is over - some may not like it, but this is FACTS, the COURSE OF HISTORY.
CA already said that Total War is a different timeline and that they will not do End Times ^^ Besides, Total War is like one of the worst franchise to do lore, it's a sandbox, their campaigns are rarely interesting ^^'

You forgot the legendary nippon warrior *Mitsubishi (materials)*
a toyota sword sounds badass
All of those Nippon names are real Japanese names except for Nissan. Them being car companies is funny but Honda and Suzuki are not uncommon names in Japan. Toyota is named after the founding Toyota.
Bruh, do you have any idea how amazing an Araby built around a literal Sultan Jaffar would be? That shit would be harder to get than the ps5 on launch day.

The acknowledgment of the sleeper in the gotrek and Felix book made me so happy. I have always wondered what that horrifying thing actually was
Lore-wise, one of the ancient creatures of the world before the Old Ones moved the planet and got rid of anything that didn’t gel with their plans.
Meta-wise, the writer said it was inspired by an old sci-Fi horror novel he loved.
Yeah I always wondered wtf that thing was omg I was legit terrified reading the last third of that book.
My own headcannon was that it was a genestealer but once it tapped into Felix's head and he got those visions that killed my headcanon. Honestly it was a very unique enemy for the duo to fight especially what it does to them. Up there with greater demons, vampire lords, Gods and a rat with lots of patience and a set skills honed over decades of backstabbing.

As opposed to - horray ! you won a battle in Aqshy. What ? You want to know where on the map ? Oh about here in the generic valley number 394. Such fun.
@@jakub_paints6775 Now this may be personal preference, but part of the fun of coming up with fun armies, characters and campaigns is _making_ generic valley number 394 within Aqshy mean something. You could say the same thing about the random planets in 40k which are only important because of the battles that took place there. Regardless, it may be a con worth mentioning if you like homebrewing

Howdy Mr.@PancreasNoWork. I've been a big fan of your videos for a while now. They remind me of the humor from old 1d/4chan where I'd originally read up on Warhammer lore.
I'm curious if you'd ever make Any Do or Don't videos' on these factions?:

I was going to say you missed Nippon, but their lore can be summarised as "A bunch of weirdos in the east on an island of warlords".

That Mori reference was gold lol
I'm glad to hear this, also a fantasy fan over 40k and its so true that the lore is so much better to explain things in fantasy than 40k.
Honestly at one point it felt like GW was trying to smother Old World in the cradle. Hopefully it selling well will stop that.
I think it's more they allocated the bare minimum amount recourses to get it out the door I imagine the success will motivate then to invest more and make more new models

Wait Khorne had a *WIFE?!?!??!*

In relation to the War in Heaven, I have a question for you as well as anyone who wants to answer. Do you think that writing what happened would benefit the setting or worsen it?
My main concerns are this:
1: This is the company that wrote the Endtimes but also turned the Horus Heresy into basically a breakdown of "everyone has daddy issues so now we must fight" and I'm not sure I trust them to do justice to something like "the reason everything in this setting came to exist".
Today was my birthday and this was the biggest possible coincidence of a video
23:15 Another one the End Times kinda screwed up was if Sigmar is actually a god or not.
17:42 damn, had to do it to the reaper

One positive that you haven't mentioned is the *extensive* 3dp selection online. The Old World was kept alive through many fan-supported projects, like The 9th Age, the Warhammer Armies Project, etc, and many 3D designers made great versions of fantasy models. If your army hasn't been released but you have access to a 3d printer, go nuts!
