i actually think you’re doing the right thing by limiting lennon’s presence on your channel, i do believe in raising child with the smallest amount of screen time is still the better thing to do (though i’m not a mom, but i saw how my 2 nephews raised with technology). anyways, happy birthday lennon🩵

as someone studying privacy law and interested in researching children in the entertainment industries (social media included!), i really respect your choice to protect lennon's privacy and personal rights, even as a child! there really aren't enough protections in the world for children, so it's up to parents like you to advocate for them and keep them safe :)

Been following since like LITERALLY community college thrift days and tumblr tags. You have blown me AWAYYYYY as a mother and a parent irrespective of gender, like you did PHENOMENALLY in this huge HUGE life journey 🥲 It really is so sad that the loudest voices are the most critical and unnecessarily nasty. I just hope you know like 98% of people are not thinking such nasty and mean-spirited things about you EVER. You've done your best, and your best is world's ahead of the best many other people even dream of doing by their kids. I would have respected any decision you made because it's your life and your channel 😁

That is a wise call on showing Lennon less as sweet as he is to include! I've noticed more and more content creators consciously choosing to keep their kids' lives more private and that is definitely a safer way to do it. Sending all the love to y'all 💛

I loved seeing your mommy vlogs because it’s hard to find Asian moms sharing their journey on TH-cam. It helps me think of my journey since I’m steps behind you and been watching you for decade. People forget it’s not just about the baby but the shift of life, mind, and identity as a mom - society does not make it easy and people have ten more nonsense ‘critiques’ for moms to be than they do for dads. I appreciate modern moms redefining what motherhood should be, on our own terms. I fully support and respect your decision on whatever you choose. So happy that you get to choose what’s best for you & family.

  • @k.sarah_sarah

Honestly, I am rather glad that you made that decision to keep things private. I started watching your videos since middle school, and now I am married. You felt like an older sister I never had, but as someone who doesn't plan on having children, I didn't really watch videos of TH-camrs featuring their kids, and even unsubscribed to those who made that a main theme of their channel. I stayed with your channel because of the inspirational, non-childcare related videos! I don't think not showing your kid means you don't like being a mom, I would rather say showing too much of it is like seeking attention/recognition from outsiders which is really not necessary for you to have in order to be a great mom. Hope you have(had) a great time in England, and HBD to Lennon!

Hell yeah! I absolutely respect that you're not showing your Lennon anymore. I hope more youtubers follow your lead in that.

  • @whatkayladoes
    @whatkayladoes ปีที่แล้ว +17

You can tell us how motherhood feels to YOU, and what you're struggling with as a MOM, without showing us HIS life, or HIS moments. I love seeing Lennon, of course, he's a beautiful child and such a part of you and Ben... but it's so much more important that he feels honored as he grows up, that he is kept safe, that you feel a release of pressure... those things are essential!
Plus, this channel is not your family's diary, it's yours -- at best. We are all old enough and mature enough (I think) to understand that when we watch creators, we're watching a BRAND. That doesn't mean it's fake, or that it's all about money, ESPECIALLY for you -- it just means it's a polished, produced vista into someone's life. It's not the whole story and it isn't appropriate for it to be.
Further, we are not your friends, but your longest running fans do CARE for you. That's a complicated duality, isn't it?
We must at once understand two things: that you also care for us and honor us as fans, but that you're a HUMAN and you're not in our inner circle. We don't own any aspect of you, your life, this channel, or anything you produce. We get the choice to support it or leave.
    And I'll be supporting.

I have mom friends who’ve opted out of showing their kids in any form or fashion to the public. You know, cutting them out of frame, emojis…
But I loved the balance of your journey and experience, Jenn.
Seeing your first experience through motherhood, and even (tasteful) shots of Lennon as he went from infant to toddler felt like JUST enough for your community.
Also loved the sit down to explain that you’re transitioning into a new era of privacy for your son as well!
    It’s perfect; you’re doing a great job!

I follow a variety of creators that range from hiding their kids faces to showing every detail about these kids, and I basically accept them all. I admire that you have come to this decision, Lennon is a real sweetie pie and it’s really a gift to allow him to have a normal upbringing without feelings any added pressure or influence from a camera being in his face. Although it’s all interesting content for us, but it’s your choice. I mean I don’t even post my own pictures to social media.
Can’t believe Lennon turned 2! This is crazy, where is time going lol

hey jenn! i don't comment often on your videos, but i wanted to let you know how much you inspire me. i'm only 18, so i'm not sure if i want to be a mother later, but if i do i truly wish to become as fantastic as a mom as you are :) i always revisit your channel when i'm struggling with my self-confidence, because you make me want to be a better person.. but i also just love watching you go about your day-to-day life because i aspire to have a routine as organized as yours someday haha
please keep up the good work, you are a blessing to not only your family but your many viewers that find comfort and inspiration through your vlogs. Jennnnn you have no idea what type of impact you had and keep having on my life. Your videos literally give my mental clarity and strength to go forward. I've learnt about habits, writing book reports, marriage & kids (even tho i'm not there yet) and I also used your referral link for betterhelp. Idk what is but i really look up to you in terms of manifesting my life. Brining peace, clarity and joy into it like you have and staying grounded. Prioritising what's important. What you said about your consistent therapy and reflection and how you feel so content at the moment, is sooo beautiful. And absolutely you got yourself here. I'm also on that journey and I feel so much better compared to 5 years ago. I still struggle sometimes, but your videos feel like therapy to me. which is so funny because this isn't some emotional, motivational talk type video but each video does have its little tid bit of wisdom and in general the way you are, think and do is what motivates me to be better too and to realize that everything is ok and that anything is possible.

Being a content creator is hard as you have to make important decisions about which aspects of your life you want to display. It takes a lot of vulnerability and I respect that. It makes sense that you want to keep your relationship with your son private (I believe Lennon has to have his safe space to fully explore himself and it can be weird for him to be on the "spotlight"). Nevertheless, it was very meaningful for me your videos about motherhood as it is a scary journey and it felt healing to perceive I was not the only one feeling anxious about it and to actually seeing you grow in your mother role was so inspiring. You are simply awesome and I will always feel grateful for making us feel part of a portion of your life❤ Thanks!

It helped me a lot going through my journey to know that im not alone and what to look for in the future. I know moving forward you wont show lennon but would u be able to just talk abt ur advices and how you raised lennon for new moms like myself. Things lkke how you kept lennon entertained, if your also teaching lennon korean, your mental struggles n anxiety of being a mom. How you overcame it, and also your breastfeeding journey? It really helps by hearing advices from another mom.

Jenn! The decision to set this kind of boundary is obviously a demonstration of your love for your son. Every person who feels otherwise is a haateeerrrr. Don´t pay attention to those fools, they most definitely don´t deserve an explanation.

Our sons are the same age and I totally get it. Those that get it, get it. Always enjoyed your content and will continue to support ❤️

I'm sad because seeing moments of children passively in vlogs definitely brightens up my day. Growing up, I had a closer family knit where I had a lot of little cousins and babies. It's been years since, and I miss the innocence and carefreeness I get from them. I, also, cannot say I don't understand why and I probably would've done the same if I'm being honest. So random, but moments of innocence has been the only thing closer to lift up my depression momentarily. I'm just letting myself ramble

Happy birthday, Lennon!! Have a great trip. I follow other creators who also limit their children in vlogs and it makes sense. ❤

Party bags for kids in Sweden when I grew up were just pick n mix candy ☺️ you got to “fish” it from a “fiskedamm”. Great tradition imo now that I think about it ☺️

I am so glad you made this decision regarding Lennon, I personally made that decision as well and I do think it's best. The Internet is beautiful but can also be scary which was my main reasoning. I consent to putting myself online but my daughter doesn't have the ability to understand or agree, either way I support your personal preference on it or course ❤️❤️ just feels better to not feel as you explained at the end

I became a mother just four (almost 5 months) ago and made the conscious decision of not showing my daughter online. We have family all over and just made a private group text where we share her. The online world can be wonderful, but it should be up to them how much they want to be exposed and we should be respectful and responsible for that. Nobody like a parent to take care of out children ❤ it is the right choice❤
