It took me a minute to get this first vlog up for Jennglebells, but here we are! I start the month off with my bullet journal spread, a trip to the Korean market and get candid with Ben about our relationship with our parents. How would you change your relationship with your parents now?

I would love if we were a little bit better at communicating our emotions in our family! Love the vlog ♥️ and my boyfriend and I also watch the crown together 🥺
I would like to go to therapy with both of them separately to really delve into topics that have either been avoided or simply never addressed. I think that would help a lot with us understanding one another

I find it super interesting when you talked about adjusting your makeup look when filming your "booktube" videos. Honestly, intelligence and vanity should be independent of each other. What's wrong with an incredibly smart woman who happens to take the extra time to dress-up and play with makeup? It sucks how women still have to deal with this standard. Just do whatever you want Jenn, I fully support the full glam book videos!

I thought the same thing, but I think it's important to keep in mind that mainly/only the very good parts of relationships make their way into a TH-cam Video, understandably so. It's okay for real life to not be as "perfect" as that.

It just struck me that I NEVER had a deep conversation with my parents.... Also, as I grow up, I'm starting to see my parents as people/ individuals rather than as "my parents". This realization has helped me accept their flaws and shortcomings. I'd have to say, my parents are in many ways an example in terms of what not to do rather than what to do lmao but ayyy, I'm grateful for that still.

Oh Jenn ✨ I loved the talk about how you appreciate and speak with your parents. I haven't seen my father since I was 9 and my mom recently passed away in July. Being parent-less at 23 has been so heart wrenching, I wish I had learned that lesson earlier too. But your videos have been a great source of inspiration on getting everything back together after it all fell apart this year.

I love seeing such a successful youtuber pronouncing Asian food with full confidence and discussing the flavors in such an everyday way. I grew up feeling like my Japanese lunches were so “exotic” and weird to others when to me, they were comfortable and normal. I used to think I never fit into the beauty or cultural standards until I found TH-cam and saw Asian style influencers that looked like me and ate like me. I love seeing it 💕

i loved your conversation with ben about what you would change about your relationship with your parents, recently i’ve been reflecting on that aswell and i loved the points you both made
At this point of time, I would like to be more open with my parents. I am 31 years of age and I think we reached the time that we can have meaningful conversations and respecting each other's different opinions. I am 31 years of age and I've been working in the aged care sector as a support worker for 2 years and I really learned to have more patience because we may be at the stage of life that we are peaking, our parents are at a different stage of life where they are slowing down and not as quick as they are used to. Especially after what has happened this year, I am extremely grateful and blessed for my parents and the relationship we currently have and that I am able to see them physically, cos for many, esp here in Melbourne Victoria Australia, some had gone for months without being able to see and hug them and for some they were never able to see them again , nor able to attend the funeral and have a proper farewell.

It took me a while to realise that I become very irritable a few days to my period. Now I know and I try to be nicer and tell myself it's the hormones. Good idea to mark it on a calender that I can always see and prepare myself
