Civil War Veteran Post in Downtown Aurora, Illinois / Grand Army of the Republic Military Museum

The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) helped pave the way for the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Today, I visited the GAR Military Museum in Aurora, Illinois, which once served as a gathering spot for Civil War veterans. It is now on the National Register of Historic Places, serving as a museum in remembrance of their honor.
