My mum has an original silver 2dr manual Getz and has had since 2003, she's now 80. I thought a few years ago I would surprise her with a new car, I got her a brand new Kia Picanto GT Turbo in black, the dealer even lent me the bow for the bonnet. She didn't like it and after a few weeks and few tears said she wanted her Getz back, which I had held onto. So I sold the Kia a few weeks later.... She loves her Getz.
@icascone yeah i would ring her every few days to see how new car was going and she seemed to be making excuses as to why she hadnt driven it yet, and when she did it was complaints like the clutch felt funny etc so i held onto her Getz rather than sell it straight away. I bought the Picanto for $18800 and sold to a Wholesaler for $16000 a few weeks later...
@@sr20trx Oh good idea you held on to the Getz!! Sorry about the $2880 loss though Also sometimes as people we get used to one car and then the new ones are better but we are not used to it... I've had my Getz for six years as a work run a round to save my new cars. I can honestly say it's been great. I've driven eighty thousand km since purchasing and all it has cost me is an annual $300-$450 service. I have a friend that has done 475000km on the one drivetrain and it's still going strong. Thank you for reviewing cars in this segment. My friend has the 1.6L and it really is a brilliant small car. Fast enough, ultra reliable, and very practical with the 4 doors.
Lmao, the Buffalo segue 😭🤣 One of my best friends has had a Getz for like 16 years. Thing is still alive and kicking. Love that little shitbox Mick Jagger caught an ALMIGHTY stray. 😭😭😭
I have 2 daughters both of them have had a Getz. One of them is still in the family. It's now on its 3rd timing belt. I love them. Tough, easy to service, totally dependable and easy to drive. I'm 6'3" and fit in fine - only issue is the seat is a bit "flat". When my youngest daughter wrote off her N14 SSS and we bought a Getz, she said 'Dad, there is only one thing wrong with a Getz - it's knowing you should have bought one in the first place".
A great honest review Adam. I bought my 1.6 SX manual Getz new in 2007 and I still use it as my daily work car. It’s done over 200,000 km and it has never let me down. I service it every 10,000 km and it uses no oil and is only on its second set to brake pads with original rotors. It’s been the most reliable and cost effective car I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned quite a few cars of various makes costing more than four times the original purchase price of $16990. My good cars stay in the shed and only come out to play on weekends thanks to the Getz.
I bought a 2011 Getz as my first car, got my license late, it’s 2024 and she’s still going really well. Took her for a service last week and the mechanic said she is still running like a dream. Great car 👍
My ex had one of these and it just wouldn't die! When we got together, I did some minor repairs (the HVAC controls were broken) and the sound system was upgraded. She serviced it herself and it was still with her when we went our separate ways and had around 550,000km on the original running gear!
I've had a 1.4L one of these as a renter in the past. Struggled on steep hills and was generally not a fun experience. Good to hear that they're reliable and have remained so. I reckon that I'd get one if I needed something simple and cheap.
I have had my Getz for 14 years. So satisfying and fun to drive, service and own. My last 4 cars were a Camry, a Corolla and a 300zx and the Getz has been the keeper...and my favourite. Long live the Getz! Thanks for the entertaining review.
I had a 2005 Getz that I bought as a 2nd hand in 2008 from a dealership, for $10K and 1,200km onboard, with some of its factory warranty still left on it, and sold it 14 years later, as a trade in, with just over 120,000km on the odometer. It was an absolutely brilliant car, and with 1.5L engine linked to a 5-speed manual gear box, it was a very forgiving car, and literally bulletproof. Granted, servicing it myself every 6 months, religiously, also helped shore up its reliability. Ergonomics were excellent, and driving dynamics were way better than expected, as decent steering, suspension and braking feedback also meant that you weren't in any danger of pushing it beyond its limits without knowing well in advance. Straight line acceleration wasn't too shabby either, if you knew how to work the clutch and the gearbox properly, as the rev/torque gear band overlap was better than expected. But then again, I was always comparing it with a Daihatsu Charade 1990 CX 1.3L manual, which was an actual rally contender. The Getz was proof that Hyundai had at least some of the basics right.
Had an ‘06 1.6 for a work car from brand new. Drove it for 6years. Gave it back when I left with 250,000km on it. Hands down one of the best cars I’ve ever had.
U don't even have to jack them up to change the oil and filter you are 100% right on everything including the part about the dust catcher under the handbrake
Drove a celadon blue 1.3L Getz for ten years from 2005 to 2015. Sold it at 92k kms. Very reliable. Some work needed on front suspension but other than that was brilliant to own. Big boot, comfy seats. I miss it!
The original suspension was good for 60,000 kms. I had mine done at 130,000 kms and it was transformative. Suspension should be part of the 100,000 kms service IMO as it affects braking distance
my GF owned one and I ended up driving it a lot. I actually grew to love it. I owned a 3rd gen Barina at the time and thought the Getz was a smarter package
My mum had one of these for a while. The only thing I know that went wrong with it was one of the door cards started peeling. I think she only got rid of it because she wanted something a little newer and quicker. Would be a great first car for a new driver or somebody on a tight budget!
i remember the days where i bought little ford escort with main bearing knock, drove it to work for a couple of months while i looked for an engine, got one for $50, little 1.3L OHV, slapped it in over the weekend at my parents farm 75km out of town. only part i needed to get it drivable to get me to work on the monday was a water pump gasket, grabbed a weetbix packet and a ball pen hammer and done, drove that car for over 11 years with ZERO engine problems! Just oil changes, spark plugs, points, HT leads, brakes ect ect. I miss those cars and those engines!!
Great car, Hyundai's coming of age. We bought our Mum one for her 70th birthday & she loved it. Yes, they are fun to drive & hold a lot. Thanks guys. _ps: get the 4dr._
Hyundai Getz has few problems. Number one is a scrappy radio with a crappier Bluetooth system. Number two is the alarm suddenly going off. Good fuel economy. The version I had was the big engine and 5 speed manual. Can be used for long distance driving. A tough little nuggetthat is easy to drive. Good to learn to drive a car with manual transmission. Boot is bigger than you think
@paulsz6194 possibly. I was up in a cherry picker mounted on a MAN 4x4 truck. Wasn't that hard for us to get up the powerline trail but I certainly was not expecting a Getz to be there.
Love the Ice Cube reference and backing beat, Brilliant!! hahaha I work in the Industry and help customers with car Information etc These models are something i direct people towards if budget and size is required. Great reviews, keep it up guys
My grandmother has a Getz, 2006 1.6 GL nearly like that one just the 5 door model and one owner since new, only 93XXXkm on the clock and it is incredible
I had the 4 door post facelift model. Owned it from new and maintained it well. It never once let me down. It was a great car to take to the shops or when having to park in parking stations. Wish I still had it. A hidden gem if you can find a good example.
Had 3 of them as work cars, rented them when traveled interstate, and absolutely loved them, tough as nails and fun to chuck around. Agree with you 100% and enjoyed your review. The other one that is bulletproof is the i30 diesel, great on fuel, and they just keep going.
I know Hyundai get a bit of a bad wrap when it comes to reliability, but I'd say they have a few gems. My 2007 Hyundai Elantra is still going strong at 317,000km :)
Great review!! I bought a 2007 Getz brand new and still have it. I called it my mini ute! The back seats were always down, Unfortunately, a huge branch fell on it and put the roof onto the seats, but you know what, I haven't got the heart to send this truly reliable, great, honest buzz box to its grave and it's still sitting on my property. It did a super reliable 270,000 km for me (I serviced it myself) and when one of my mates spotted me driving down the road fat-arming the door on a summer day (shame, shame, shame) and never let me live it down paid out on me was something that has never bothered me, it should have. but for some stupid reason, it didn't. As Spewbad says, it would survive a nuclear apocalypse, "NEARLY" if Sugar Gums weren't around.
I've had a 2005 three door 1.4L 5 speed for a while now and I have to say the 1.4 is great for long trips and around town and the noise inside actually is very low. Since September I've done thousands of kilometres of drives around Queensland and I love it. I won't sell it anytime soon
Bought a 2009 Getz SX, 5 speed 3 door. Absolutely fantastic little rig. Had a power sunroof installed and a set of speedy mag wheels.Absolute little trooper. Authentic for sure.
Commenting from the UK where I bought one as my son's first car and another when he wrote off the first one. Easy enough to do as they are worth buttons. Both were the 1.1 litre engine which is a hoot to drive, just plant your right foot into the carpet and hang on as you slowly proceed towards 60mph. Had to replace the hatchback struts which was easy enough and that's about it. He did the 600 mile round trip to Cornwall in it with two mates for a music festival and got caught going faster than he should have been on the M25. Some achievement! Basically a brilliant first car and he would probably still have the second one if someone hadn't hit him and wrote it off.
Yep. Mine's at 333k kms and running strong. I've recently gotten it its 3rd timing belt kit and water pump changed, radiator cleaned and serviced and the power steering pump changed. Hopefully it'll last until half a million kms
I had a 2009 Auto 3 door hatch. Silver paint, which was in great condition. The only things we replaced were the water pump, battery and the timing belt. It ran awesome and was fun to drive.
I got the 1.6L after my DC2R was stollen. had zero fear of anyone even looking it, left doors unlocked, cheaper insurance, etc. but man: the fun driving it was no less than the Integra!
Our Getz is a 2010, 1.4 with about 88.000 km on the clock, we are the 3rd owner bought from a friend in 2013, no ABS or ESC, you need the 1.6 for that. I have done the OHC belt twice plus water pump, unnecessarily as the belt had no sign of deterioration, I just followed the book, just did the brake pads 2 years ago, oil and filter change I do every year.change the cabin filters and air filter. more room in the boot compared with my daughters Yaris. great shopping car, park it anywhere.
I have a 2004 1.5 litre,5 speed manual. Bought off our son with just over 150,000 km on it. We have other vehicles but use this as a work and shopping trolley car and its amazing. 4 litres per 100km.another amazing.Parts are cheap, service every 5k and is very reliable and well loved.
I currently drive 2010 1.4 High Spec 180 000kms on the clock, great little car, light on fuel....my friends wife has had one for 10 years, he knows these cars inside out, only reason i bought one
I drive a 2006 Hyundai Getz. Issues I've had with it was I needed to replace the AC pump and the check engine light used to keep popping up due to misfires but that's about it.
My wife bought hers brand new in 2011, and has had 13 years of worry-free motoring. I love driving it because it’s manual. We plan on passing it on to my eldest when she getz her license in the not so distant future.
I had an original model 1.5 3 door manual which I drove from Sydney to Perth. It was happy to sit on 150 Km/h fully loaded with aircon on. The car later went to a friend who added another 200,000Km before it died of old age.
Wifey had a Getz and it was brilliantly reliable - the biggest issue I found is that the oil capacity is only 3.3 litres - after 10000km of city driving the oil was really bad - probably the biggest killer for any Getz is leaving oil changes too long or letting the oil level get too low. Would suggest doing oil changes every 5000km or at most 7500km (was very easy & cheap to do minor servicing and oil changes myself). Fuel economy for the 1.6 auto was only average, for something this size it should be a lot better.
I get they are cheap and reliable but what a chore to drive, if the mother in law’s 1.4 manual 2012 model was anything to go by. And no it wasnt old and clapped out, she got it new and only ever put about 40kkm on it. My wife flat out refused to drive the thing.
A friend of mine has had one in their family from new, 2003, and they have not at all looked after it and barely serviced it, but yet it still goes on and on and on…
Hey redriven ,would appreciate if you would review 10th gen corolla. There are so many on the road so there must be a reason for it, especially the hatchback.thanks
I had one when I served in the army, 10 years ago. Back than it was worth the price. Half of the other super minis on the market (I bought a 10 year old Getz for 2500 USD equivalent to shekels), the yaris cost around 6000 USD back than, as well as Polo, or Mazda 2. The ownership costs also was cheap and I could fix everything by myself, also learned how to worked on my cars from that simple Getz. But today those are already very old cars which usually went through bad ownership because of the low budget audience they reach to. So... its better to put your money on more modern, comfort and safer newer car.
In Finland a base Getz was sold with a 1.1 L engine. That engine had an issue with the cambelt pulley at the end of the crankshaft being attached with a pressure fitting. Eventually the pulley would start to wear out and the camshaft belts timing went wrong, causing the car to lose power and run like crap. A common fix was that the pulley got welded to the crankshaft, often resulting in the timing being permanently a bit wrong. The 1.4 L or diesel was a safer bet engine wise. Also rust in the front subframe was a concern, a tiny hole there caused the whole car to fail the Finnish equivalent of MOT inspection. Also, the front brakes tended to start to drag and cause fuel consumption, that wasn't great anyways compared to other makes, to go sharply up.
I had an early model pre facelift Getz Interior suffered from the same deterioration around the gear stick boot. Also, before my ownership, the car was left outside for long periods in the sun and without a dash mat. This caused the top of the dash to become super brittle and it cracked and broke up like a thin chocolate block. Covered it with a dash mat after trying to glue it back together. It also needed that aforementioned engine mount, it was the 1.5L. So I think those things must be typical faults. Very reliable car though. It reached 175km/h in Mexico. Would definitely buy another one if I had the need.
One issue with the getz is the plugs that connect to the coils crumble from the heat. Easy to fix but expect to pay between $25 & $40 for 1 or two depending on the seller
I owned a 2004 Getz auto (was my pop's) and mum still owns a 2008 Getz manual. Despite being gutless I preferred the 2004 auto. Treated it pretty hard up and down Macquarie Pass frequently and getting lift off oversteer on a wet Canberra roundabout. There were a few things that went "wrong" around 100k km such as driveshafts and engine mounts, but that was a function of age with pop only doing 40k km in 12 years. Still on the road despite my ex girlfriend driving it into a ditch at speed - new lower control arm and was good as new (minus the scratches)
Had one of these as a second car and it was bullet proof … in 2 years of ownership I had to replace a internal door handle which I got through eBay for quarter of the price than genuine funny was it also was a genuine part of… it did its job and more
Bought used and clocked (a lot) 1.1 liter 2005 getz back in 2015. 9 years later and more than 150K's, car is still running with original motor and trans. Оdometer is showing more than 300K, but I doubt it, so it is something like 420/450K. Regular oil changes (7500km) and thats it. Honest and reliable car, perfect for the city.
My mum has had her mark 1 Gets for exactly 20 years and has worked very very well (engine wise), but the little things like the sun visor, the radio, and the seatbelt warning light all are broken lol but engine wise is wonderful! (Touch wood!!)
I had a 2005 Getz for about 10 years, it’s a reliable nugget and dirt cheap to maintain, easiest car in the world to work on, it would have lasted forever except it got rear ended, and the payout I got was more than I bought it for second hand. It’s a handy car to own as a backup because it is so cheap.
Bought my wife a 1600 HS in 2007. Now in 2024 has only 85000km.on the clock. Not very light on fuel as they say , however have only replaced exhaust system with free flow.Had a lot of grunt and is cheap to maintain .
What a buy!. I Just bought a getz for $350 before watching this video! 220k full service history. It's unroadworthy atm due to a minor crash, and it's the filthiest car I've ever bought, but will clean up sweet.. im looking forward to a fun drive... great vid!
I concur, the Hyundai Getz is great value for money little car, that's tough and reliable, and surprisingly nippy in 1.6L guise. The only issue I had with mine was that you sat "on" the seat rather than "in" it, which made longer journeys (2+ hours) a back stiffening experience. I Would happily recommend one as a first car or cheap runaround. Cheers!
That's an enjoyable presentation, guys! They are a great little car; what you see is what you Getz....We had them on our fleet and they copped a lot of work with no real issues. Sure, I personally wouldn't really want to drive across Oz in one, but it'd certainly do it and on the smell of an oily rag. 👍
I had a 1.6 manual 5-door from new for about 7 years. It was a great car! Very practical, easy to drive, incredibly economical, reliable. I used to get my mountain bike in the back!
Glade your accepting cars like this , shows and open mind and allowing the odd shit box to make it in an review it. Totally enjoyed watching this from the normal.
I have a 2010 model getting close to clicking over its first 100K. The plastics have a few squeaks. Replaced the antenna mount as these rust out. There is nothing refined about it but you are right, it is quite fun to drive the manual 1.6 little nugget. I seem to remember Kia selling a large number of these in runout in 2011 and the motoring journalists recommending to buy the getz over the replacement i20 as they were better value. I think perhaps they were right for once.
Ahh, can we just have a moment to celebrate the Mazda 2 (the older version), that looked like a cross between a Holden Cruze (yes, the older variant) and a Hyundai Getz. The “boxy” Mazda 2… honestly runs rings around the Getz! However, the Getz is still a fantastic vehicle… loved by many pizza shop owners alike too!😂
I had one of these in the 1.4 manual as a loaner car for a couple of months from a family member while my falcon wagon was being repaired . I was so impressed with how much fun it was to drive around town and duck into the shops . Fuel economy seemed excellent compared to the falcon . The deal was i had to sell on the can once i was done and pass back the $ to the family member. Would you believe it sold on market place within minutes of listing it and at double what the original owner actually wanted .
Apart from the safety ratings which are a bit of a worry on a 15 - 20 year old Getz, cars like this are so right for so many people who don't need the SUV that they think they need. Small cars like this are much cheaper to buy, more fun to drive, and all the car many people really need.
I owned one of these from brand new in 2010. Have spun it around a corner at 80km/h, driven it down a three metre embankment and through a flooded street. Literally just let the engine dry out for a few days and it was back to good. Very very reliable car and yes it has uncomfortable seating but it's been a solid solid dependable runabout.
When it was first released in Malaysia particularly West Malaysia, this Getz was a hot hatch and everyone buys it. There was also the ImpuLs bodykit with bucket seats and 17inch handsome sportrims and nice low profile tyres. Then years later it just gone... Yes, majority was not well taken cared and etc...
Best effin car i ever had in terms of realibility! Once u changed a rad in 10 years and thats it.... One thing i hated for a big tall guy like me for a long journey your right knee would start to hurt...
I’ve got one of these, needed a spark plug and an engine mount, ac compressor sized but it has seen more limiter than idle and been flat footed everywhere, has maybe cost me $100 in maintenance in 2 years
had one, Cheapest new car that wasn't a cherry, at the time, right at it's end of availability. tow bar installed and was pulling box trailers and all sorts. would still have it if it wasn't for a comodore driver pulling out on a blind corner. timing belts replaced twice, put 230'000km ran 100% on E10 getting about 6-7L/100 - wasn't much i couldn't fit in it. even a screen door. Sound deadend the doors, upgraded the audio drove everywhere.
My wife had a 2010 5dr auto for a runabout. Was a great little car, paint was probably the worst part about it. We kept the servicing up and It was very Reliable, yes we did replace the engine mounts haha
1st problem is the stereo which just fails, which is not a real issue with the car. The second problem i had was a rusting fuel tank. Rust all the way through the tank. But otherwise it's been a brilliant little car. Its got 140,000K on it and runs like it was brand new.
I had a very early Hyundai Getz 1.6 L and it was a wonderful little car. It could park anywhere and if you wound it out through the gears it felt surprisingly quick. I always got a laugh out of the number plate which I still remember 20 years later, 1BIG-028. BIG was obviously ridiculous on such a tiny car and the 028 reminded my of the 28 parrot and back in those days I was a bit of a galah, so it's always stuck in my mind.🤣
Actually had a ticky tappet the other day, followed a mechanics advice and put a half litre of ATF in the engine, detergent action in the ATF is better than engine oil ,quietened it down really quick, may have not needed it but its been ok since, ATF fixed a Falcon hydraulic tappet once. back brakes have not needed changing shoes, only front pads, easy fit, just need a 12 mil ring and a g clamp.
Got one cheap. Renewed struts, cleaned out under valve cover(smoking bad) fixed trans cable(popped off so wouldnt start) radio stopped wont unlock, abs light on (mechanic said about $2k) just got cheap scanner fault found and cleaned abs and working all good. So i dont like all this car has made me fix but it is solid now. Now hatch struts need teplacing so still pissing me off. Fuel eco is not that good because of revving, its 1.6 too. Need to do engine mount as well, vibrates horribly.
rust is an issue; read a dutch over 300000 km review and it was suggested to be scrapped due to internal rust; rest was ok; also said a blind horse can wreck the interior despite it not being the most stylish so that was meant truly hyper positivly
I think this is brilliant that a normal, older car that is in no way pretentious or in mint condition has been reviewed here, we need more reviews like this from you guys in addition to the usual

Hyundai/kia can be very hit or miss, they've got cars like this that will last as long as a Toyota, but others that are euro levels of unreliable.
anything beofe 2010 adn after 2000 is very reliable from Hyundai/Kia. anything after that is a miss and hit.
Hyundai come on leaps and bounds like Kia, but not remotely near good as Toyota for longevity and long term reliability.

Not the safest car. Would score a zero in crash testing.

I have a 2005 1.5l 3 door. With 340000kms. Awesome little car.
you're the 2nd owner?
my GF owned one and I ended up driving it a lot.
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this one. Love seeing these cheap little nuggets get the spotlight. Cheers for the review!
i remember the days where i bought little ford escort with main bearing knock, drove it to work for a couple of months while i looked for an engine, got one for $50, little 1.3L OHV, slapped it in over the weekend at my parents farm 75km out of town. only part i needed to get it drivable to get me to work on the monday was a water pump gasket, grabbed a weetbix packet and a ball pen hammer and done, drove that car for over 11 years with ZERO engine problems!
I've seen a Getz fitted with bullbar and off road lightings. It was doing some pretty gnarly offroading. They're like the AU but hatch form.
The Au's have a lot of torque, the getz doesn't. that bullbar would have made it a little front-heavy
@paulsz6194 possibly. I was up in a cherry picker mounted on a MAN 4x4 truck. Wasn't that hard for us to get up the powerline trail but I certainly was not expecting a Getz to be there.
@ thanks. Certainly intriguing to see a bull bar on one of those.
Use this car - one word to describe: underrated 👏
A friend of mine had a Getz. She called it Stan. Best name for a car ever.
Isn't that the car that had a knock?
Hey mate, first video I've watched from you and it's great! Love your work 👊😎
Commenting from the UK where I bought one as my son's first car and another when he wrote off the first one.
Bought 2 of those new, set of wheels and and a decent stereo and they're bloody great little cars. I wish you could still buy them new.
I had a 2009 Auto 3 door hatch. Silver paint, which was in great condition. The only things we replaced were the water pump, battery and the timing belt. It ran awesome and was fun to drive.
Hired one once. Fastest car ever. Loved it foot flat to the floor everywhere. So much fun.
I have many, many fond memories of booting around in Hyundai Getz's. In fact, some of the best memories.
We had an 05 Getz for a bit back in 2011.
I can tell you it is a waaaay better car than my renault kangoo.
I wish I kept it just as a runabout.
I get they are cheap and reliable but what a chore to drive, if the mother in law’s 1.4 manual 2012 model was anything to go by. And no it wasnt old and clapped out, she got it new and only ever put about 40kkm on it. My wife flat out refused to drive the thing.
A friend of mine has had one in their family from new, 2003, and they have not at all looked after it and barely serviced it, but yet it still goes on and on and on…
Dad brought one of these. Can confirm with the seats down you can fit a wheelbarrow inside…. Noting a tyre mark on the ceiling
Mine is about to hit 200 000km. I just completed 1600km round trip with it and it had zero issues 😊
We have recently aquired our second getz. The fist one we gave away.
They are fun to drive, amazing on fuel and just a great little runnabout.
give it away, give it away, give it away now! 😂
I had an early model pre facelift Getz
Interior suffered from the same deterioration around the gear stick boot.
Great work runabout! Humble daily transport!
Still on the road despite my ex girlfriend driving it into a ditch at speed - new lower control arm and was good as new (minus the scratches)
i miss my accent, it was very similar to this. loved it. best car ever. if i ever go broke, I'll buy one again :)
I'm driving a 2007 1.1 gsi and all I can say is it's reliable and good on fuel
Had one of these as a second car and it was bullet proof … in 2 years of ownership I had to replace a internal door handle which I got through eBay for quarter of the price than genuine funny was it also was a genuine part of… it did its job and more
Bought used and clocked (a lot) 1.1 liter 2005 getz back in 2015. 9 years later and more than 150K's, car is still running with original motor and trans. Оdometer is showing more than 300K, but I doubt it, so it is something like 420/450K. Regular oil changes (7500km) and thats it. Honest and reliable car, perfect for the city.
The good thing with underpowered ecoboxes is- you always feel like you're going fast, even at 50 kph!
Cheers!
Really relatable... talking by experience 😊
Love love love these, brilliant straight up cars😊😊😊
I’m looking forward already to the two second segment, “is it safe?”
Nice vid and trivia on buffalos 😂
Please, oh please fix those cataract headlights!
Best effin car i ever had in terms of realibility! Once u changed a rad in 10 years and thats it.... One thing i hated for a big tall guy like me for a long journey your right knee would start to hurt...
I’ve got one of these, needed a spark plug and an engine mount, ac compressor sized but it has seen more limiter than idle and been flat footed everywhere, has maybe cost me $100 in maintenance in 2 years
You should show us your car collection man
had one,
Cheapest new car that wasn't a cherry, at the time, right at it's end of availability.
tow bar installed and was pulling box trailers and all sorts. would still have it if it wasn't for a comodore driver pulling out on a blind corner.
timing belts replaced twice, put 230'000km
ran 100% on E10 getting about 6-7L/100 -
wasn't much i couldn't fit in it. even a screen door.
Actually had a ticky tappet the other day, followed a mechanics advice and put a half litre of ATF in the engine, detergent action in the ATF is better than engine oil ,quietened it down really quick, may have not needed it but its been ok since, ATF fixed a Falcon hydraulic tappet once. back brakes have not needed changing shoes, only front pads, easy fit, just need a 12 mil ring and a g clamp.
ain't nuthin but a G thang baby...
Next door neighbour has one don't think she has ever had it serviced exhaust sounds like it is about to fall off but still going strong
