When changing pollen filters use vacuum cleaner to duck out all loose debris before installing new ones notice the cover lid was covered in dust wash it then refit
Hi Brian, thanks for watching. We didn't show it in this video but agree that when replacing the air filter or cabin air filter it's a good idea to vacuum out the housings while you're there, before installing the new filter
Getz one of the best small car around for many years to come due low ownership and maintenance cost, ease of spare parts availability , good reliability, nice for city driving and parking .
Well done! Don't forget to run the motor to fill up the empty oil filter while at the same time checking for any oil leaks. Re-check and adjust oil level accordingly.
Thank you so much for creating this video my son has just bought a Getz for his first car and this video was such a great reference for him. Young people don’t know how fortunate they are being able to learn from other people via video. Big thumbs up and your videos are very professionally put together.
Hi Kevin, Thanks for your feedback. Absolutely, it's certainly not a requirement. We found that driving up onto these 3" wood blocks does quickly and noticeably increase the amount of room you have to work underneath though, and with the Getz' limited ground clearance every inch helps! Cheers
Really nice videos on the Getz. Well explained and good camera work. You are my 'go to' man for Getz maintenance from now on. I wish I'd have seen the belts vid before the garage relieved me of some cash.
Hi Saeed, thanks a lot for watching and commenting. We've got this on the list for potential future videos, but unfortunately only have access to an automatic Getz at the moment
I know its a year old video - but any chance you guys could do a video replacing a fuel pump module on this? Found some videos on here but majority don't speak english and you explain stuff perfectly
Hi James, thanks for watching. We will keep this in mind for future - we have been considering doing a video on changing the fuel filter which would have a lot of overlap with this on the Getz
@@2ndGearLow Thanks for the reply! It's been refreshing to watch you guys replace stuff on it. Picked up a 1.6L SX model from a client at work (I do pest control) for free; he said if I can tow it I can have it hahaha - ended up just needing a new fuel pump which I eventually fixed by myself and now I have a perfect little buzz box! Only done 175xxx too which isnt bad considering it only cost me $75 for a trailer hire🤣

My son lost the keys to ours, unfortunately we never had a spare key...and now it sits in the driveway....looking at replacing the ignition barrel and lock barrels...wish u had a vid for that! Anyways. Keep up the videos..good work and very understandable tutorials.
Great video. Whilst it's not required I'd recommend soaking the filter media a bit so when it turns over it doesn't have to exert itself as much, say 300ml of that 3.3L. Something I've always found curious about that EDGE 5w30 from castrol and lots of castrol products in general is the severe lack of certification on all these oils...I asked them why it doesn't have the latest API cert and they said it could do it but the it wouldn't have a specific VW cert 🧐
Thanks man, doing maintenance my getz I bought, looks like nobody ever serviced it. Cabin air filter was dirty AF and there is gunk in there. Will have to clean it out next time I change the filter. Engine one looked bad too. At this point ima change everything lol.
Some good preventative maintenance is always a good idea - especially when you don't know the previous service history. Oil, filters, fluids, belts etc. Good luck!
@@2ndGearLow Suprised my timing belt didn't snap, it was last changed in 2014, just got it swapped out. Owners manual says every 90k or 6 years... currently changing my spark plugs while going off your other video, but my cover is stuck or something because I can't get 2 screws out.
hi would like to ask if you know if there is a getz model that has a different setup for the in cabin air filter, ive looked behind the glove box on mine and it doesn't looks at all like you have where you pulled those two filters out. on the right side there seems to something like a big bowl and on the left side i can se something more boxy, there seeems to be some kind of sponge between these two compartments that connect to each other
Hi Med Atlas Eagle, thanks for commenting and good question. The same car sold in different markets will often have different options/trims and specifications unique to that country, so best to refer to your Owner's manual to check what oil is specified for your car. 10W-40 is not specified in our Owner's Manual for Australia, but it may be for yours.
Sorry to ask such a basic question but i do need help on this one. Does the Getz have an engine protection plate? In your video it doesn't and my car at this moment doesn't. Problem is I have a vague alzheimers blurred memory that mine did have one before it went to the garage to have the cam belt changed. The mounting holes (X2) for such a plate are definitely there at the front. Thanks for any assistance you can give.
Hi, sorry for the slow response to this one. We didn't have any additional plates from what is shown in the video, but they may have been removed by a previous owner. Looking at the exploded diagrams on Partsouq.com, I found that there are two under covers - 291201C010 (RH side) and 291301C100 (LH side). It seems these are more of a splash shield rather than protection plate (against impacts etc.). If you enter your specific Getz VIN into Partsouq.com they have detailed diagrams of almost the entire car with part numbers, so you can see what it may have come with, which we use all the time. Hope that helps!
@@2ndGearLow Many thanks for your very helpful and detailed answer. It looks like my Getz is without under engine protection (it does have the other 2) and always has been i guess. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Hi there. This was really helpful and covered all my questions but one. Can we do the same procedure for Getz year 2004? I’d highly appreciate a quick response.
Hi Waleed, while it may be a similar procedure for a 2004 Getz, this video features the 1.4L engine (G4EE) which is not found in the 2004 models. Best to get your hands on a copy of the factory service manual (FSM) for your earlier model, and you can put your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into partsouq.com to get diagrams and part numbers for any parts (including fuel filter, air filter and sump plug gasket) on your particular vehicle.
Thanks Go Morel, unfortunately we don't have access to a 1.1L Getz in the near future, however the process would be similar. We'll keep the cooling system in mind for future videos
Thanks a lot for subscribing, we really appreciate it. More videos are planned for the Getz for sure. We're not planning to change the starter motor specifically in upcoming videos at this stage, but will add it to the list for potential future content!
Hi, yes it can be accessed from underneath the back seats (inside the car), as it's an in-tank fuel filter. Hyundai part number calls it a long-life fuel filter, and it's located adjacent to the fuel pump as part of a larger assembly which lowers down into the fuel tank. We may look at a video on this changeout in future, but don't have it planned in at the moment. Partsouq.com have a really clear exploded diagram showing this arrangement if you put in the Getz VIN and search for "Fuel system". Hope that helps
Hi Britney, this is a hard one to answer, depends on a lot of things such as condition of the rest of the car (inc age/kms), whether you can do any of the work yourself, etc. However, generally speaking it seems less economically worth it to replace an engine in a relatively low priced car, given that much of the cost is in labour. It wouldn't hurt to get some quotes on replacement if the engine is beyond repair
It should say in your owners manual, if you have it. But if your car has the same engine as ours it will likely take 5W-30 engine oil. Hope this helps!
Hi Manohara H C, you can keep the left over new oil to use for top-ups in future. Depending on age/wear, some cars will lose enough engine oil, e.g. through burning or leaks, to require top-ups between oil changes, so it can be useful to keep some of the left over new oil. The old engine oil can be disposed of by putting it in a container and taking to an auto parts store, where they will often have disposal bins for waste oil.
Thanks for the video. Previously getting to the oil filter for me was a 'Nightmare On Elm Street' It may be a lot easier job for Korean hands probably........
