  • Its Easter weekend 2020 and the country is in lock-down,Project 380 is well underway and ive started to make the inter-cooler piping but because of the lock-down i cant get to an engineering shop to get the pipes bead rolled.
    The best solution for me was to make my own....
    I thought i would show you all how to make your own bead forming tool too
    To make this all your going to need is;
    *Set of old vice grips /mole grips
    * An old long screw driver
    *One big thick washer
    *Two big bolts or a bit of flat bar
    *Degreeser
    *wire-brush
    *Grinder
    *Welder
    Please consider helping me finish this project by visiting the link below

    thank you

    A thicker washer on the inner side, filed to a round profile, will give a neater roll. For the really fussy you can shape the anvil side to a neater curve.
    For steel pipes, simply soft solder some stranded copper wire around the pipe end. Tin the bare steel with solder, wrap the copper, twist the ends for a tight fit and solder in place. Snip off the excess and file smooth.

    this video was a life saver i ended up using an exhaust U bolt i ground down thinner instead of a washer and it worked fantastic!

      You could also use a large thin nut and file off the corners after welding. A full nuts would be too wide.

    That's a good tool for those larger pipes. I've got the Parker beading tool for small tube sizes, which can bead tubes down to 1/4" up to only about a half inch. So I never knew there was a way to make a tool to bead larger pipes. I've had those silicone rubber tubes pop off the metal ones when under high boost. So that's the answer.

    going to try this on EMT or stainless for coolant line (subaru ej25 into a vanagon T3).. TBH the hoses did stick on the EMT good, had a time getting them back off, but the OCD part of me said, they need a bump to hold the hose on........ Brillant as you all say.

    • @DanTheManIOM
      @DanTheManIOM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@troyb3659 not sure as I am in the middle of installation at this time. Had to wait months for the rev coolant manifold, etc and been working on that and the instake properly installed and wired. the hoses were tight on the emt, there is some type of deposit on the inside, but TBH, it probably does not matter at the end of the day....

    • @Project380
      @Project380  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      with this tool no, the throttle body is far too stiff, best of welding a bead on
