We're going next month and I've only ever been a passenger on a left side driving trip... 20 years ago. I'll be the one driving initially, but my wife will eventually have to take the wheel so I can enjoy those distillery tasting tours. ;) This might give her a lot more peace of mind. I'm always up for a challenge, but she's the more cautious and reserved of the two of us so I think this would be a great tool for her (and me, frankly) before we go. We lived in New England for a while so we're very familiar with roundabouts, but not going the wrong direction! Thank you for the review!
@laner.845. Thanks for your comment!! We just (20 minutes) got home from the airport after our second trip to Ireland. Since you’re leaving soon I wanted to reply quickly 😀 We rewatched the Tripiamo video right before we left and it honestly gave me a lot more confidence this time around!! Watch the section about signage and also road markings. Things like hatchmarks in intersections and the lines that mark legal street parking 👍 One quick note was I felt more confident about finding a pullover spot to allow faster traffic (usually locals) to pass by. YES, the roundabouts! Some roundabouts are pretty straightforward but ! In smaller towns you might see a roundabout sign and when you get to the intersection there is merely a 6’ diameter circle. Looks like a four way intersection but it’s a roundabout. Some of them are larger ovals😀 The copilot can help a lot!! Hope some of this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Seems like a good concept. Opposite side driving is a harrowing experience! Makes sense to do some prep beforehand. Even crossing the street as a pedestrian is unnerving!
@unclepick3459. Thanks for watching 👍. You’re right, it’s a great concept. It covers everything a rookie driver in Ireland should know. Wish we had this on our first trip. Even pedestrians can learn from this program by learning to always “ look right “ 😀👍
Staying on the MAIN ROADS for a couple of days is a HUGE help. The roundabouts were nerve wracking as I was driving solo. I actually did drift off to the right and did minor damage to a hedgerow and lost my mirror. If I had been on a main road, it would NOT have happened. It was all the fault of the roundabouts. 😮
@donovanfoto3263. Thanks for watching! You’re right, getting on the motorway for an hour or so helped my confidence 😀 I’ll give you credit for driving solo the first time 👍 We came back with both mirrors but there were some close calls😂 I’m going to watch the Tripiamo videos before we go back to Ireland to refresh my memories. Especially the roundabout section 😀
I have never driven a manual transmission vehicle which adds to the daunting task of driving in unfamiliar territory. Did you rent a manual or automatic car? Love all your informative videos!
@jennifernewman240. Thanks for watching and thank you for your question! We both learned to drive manual transmission cars at an early age. All we’ve driven in the past number of years have been automatic transmissions. We decided it was better to spend more money for the automatic. Nothing new to learn about driving the car. You have more time to get comfortable driving on the opposite side of the car and the opposite side of the road. 😀 Wishing you the best on your trip! Let us know how your trip goes if you get a chance! Appreciate your support 😀👍✌!
@timothyclark-sl4il 😀. Should be an interesting four years! The Tripiamo programs cover Ireland and a lot of Europe. If you’re leaving the country for a while you might as well learn about driving over there. Thanks for watching and safe travels!

As an American looking to escape the future shit show, this was very helpful.
