- MAE HONG SON LOOP | We're driving Thailand's wildest road trip, the Mae Hong Son loop! Starting in Chiang Mai, we head towards Pai and take in some of the 1860 curves along the Mae Hong Son loop. We continue on to Mae Hong Son and drive along what is arguably the most beautiful section of the Mae Hong Son loop before ending our trip in Mae Sariang. As we drive the Mae Hong Son loop we stop at incredible places like; Nam Lod Cave, Ban Rak Thai and amazing waterfalls.

oh no- this gave us flashbacks of the mini bus to Pai 🤣Nam Lod cave look great! We were told it was unsafe to go whilst we were there due to the amount of rain that we had- atleast we can see it through your video :)

I remember getting the bus to Pai from Chiang Mai. I get really bad motion sickness on the best of days so decided to just knock back sleeping pills for the journey , worked a treat! Chewing on ginger can also help.

I started travelling the Loop in 2003, and decided to properly learn it as a driving experience in 2007.
So far, the CM-Pai-MHS-Mae Sariang bit is fairly well settled into my memory, but there's always something new or a change to the road.
I'd love to do it in a 'serious car' one day, but for now my 18 year old HiLux will keep me happy.
We did it in a Toyota Ativa so I wouldn’t feel bad at all! It’s such a great road, really well maintained and smooth for the most part 😁

Roads 1095 and 108 Mae Hong Son are my favorite routes. and have to drive around to liberate it every year The road may be winding. Some parts are steep. But the atmosphere on both sides of the road makes us happy. Especially if you like driving in the mountains, it will be a lot of fun. Entering Chiang Mai, there are still many attractions and activities to do.😅

Thanks!! We went with Thai-Rent-A-Car and had no issues. There was also no one way fee for us to pick up in Chiang Mai and drop off in Phuket 🙌🏼

You Missing Pang Ung in Ban Ruam-Thai, it was in the right side when you goint out from Rak-Thai to Mea Hongsorn! about 20km from Rak Thai village. but Pang Ung you should to going in the morning from the Sun rise about 6.00M till 9.30AM, there very beautiful to visit

Currently, there is battle between combined forces of ethnic minorities and the Burmese army on the Thai-Burmese border. Opposite side of Mae Hong Son province. Please be careful when traveling and do not go near the border.

🤣🤣🤣 we have a fear of two wheels since our scooter accident in Greece last year 🤦♂️
@@cjexplores the sooner you face your fears the better. I actually dropped a bike and broke my toe in process this summer. And I also had a small accident on scooter in Chiang Rai only few days before going on a Mae Hong Son loop. The first day I was scared like hell, I was going ridiculously slow. It was also wet on the road. But I slowly build up my confidence, and the more time I spent on a bike the more fun it was. Although I have to admit I was a bit disappointed by the loop. There ain't a lot of places with great view, most of times you're just surrounded by trees on both sides. I had more fun going to Phayao right after finishing the loop. More scenic route in my opinion.
@@fiucik1 thanks for the tip. We’ve actually had our first day back on two wheels together today. We took it easy around the low lying roads of Koh Phangan, but you’re right, the confidence slowly builds again.

Amazing stories? I wouldn't use that term, nothing amazing about dropping a bike like a novice(which I am by the way). I like to call myself a "master of disaster":D But you know, I'd rather regret things that I've done, than regret not doing something. We have this saying in Poland(I'm Polish), that if you're gonna fall down from a horse, at least fall down from a tall one :D
