@paddingtonjohnston8537 honestly it's not that hard considering it's the hardest ranked song out there. It's surprisingly, easy with that title it should be more difficult
I play French horn and I am just imagining how painful this is to play because we have the smallest mouthpiece out of all of the brass instruments which makes it easier to play higher notes but at a cost...
Horn mouthpieces do have narrow rims, but a greater inner width (and hence a greater “chop surface”) being used in most cases compared to trumpet mouthpieces. Typical trumpet mouthpiece inner diameter: 16-17mm Typical horn mouthpiece inner diameter: 17-18mm if you’re using basically anything other than a Farkas MDC.
not at all. i would ask yourself, can you do lip trills? if not, start practicing them today (tons of videos online from professionals). the piece sounds harder in many parts than it is in my opinion. if you’re serious about doing it for solo and ensemble, start today with slow reading and go from there. of course, if your solo and ensemble date is soon like in a matter of weeks, i wouldn’t try to rush the learning process. sincerely, a college student studying horn performance 📯
Playing this in like 3 days wish me luck fellow hornists

@PaulKulevi am also curious
i just started learning this. hardest thing i’ve played next to mozart lol

Trumpet mouthpiece is shallower though, french horn mouthpiece actually has more space inside of it than a trumpet one does

i should note, i’m not sure which grade you’re in, but practice makes perfect
Yeah I’m thinking about it too and I have the same feeling
fun fact En Forêt means In forest in English En Forêt is French which is ironic because this was written for FRENCH horn
it's not ironic, Bozza was French while the French horn is not(*)
