I played french horn for a little while before switching to flute. I have so much respect for horn players...I tried for six months to get one decent tone out of that instrument, only to sound like a dying elephant. Anyone who can make such beautiful music with this instrument has my highest respect! And the piece is, I've heard, one of the hardest for french horn. Amazing!
Absolutely wonderful! I'm working on this piece right now and it feels a little bit like going uphill with a wheelbarrow with a tonne of bricks in it, but I'm confident :P
I’m over here in highschool just like “I wanna be this good.” Hopefully I might be able to play this for solo contest once I get my braces off. That was a beautiful performance. Well done!
@@raayney typically you can play with braces, but it can be hard in the higher range especially for the first chunk of time having them. I took that time to improve my low range a great deal. Then when you get the braces off it's a bit hard again for a month or so just because you have to readjust and get used to the feel of the mouthpiece again. But it is all doable :)
I'm currently a sophomore in high school and i'm working on a very challenging piece named "Fantasy for horn" by Sir Malcom Arnold I love the piece its so fun to play i'm practicing it for an upcoming solo festival i got a 1 at district which means i get to go to state really hope i can make it sound as good as you played it your tone was beautiful and those lip trills gave me the chills amazing job
@@YoungKimHorn thx i got a 1 at regional(the best score) so i got to move on to state which i got a 2 i now plan on playing this piece for my senior year so i have about 2 years to prepare it. This is quite a challenging piece but i think its beautiful and from what I’ve played of it its really fun.

Superb!! Reminds me of my old teacher, Mr. Cerminaro, who played this Bozza live in NYC dozens of times. Fine pianist, too!
Whaou! super son , c'est beau. Et la pianiste est top aussi ^^ . Beau DUO!
Bravo, impressionnant !!
Beautiful and extremely impressive!! 💚💕

This piece is so perfect for horn. I absolutely love it. Heroic yet melancholy. Fantastic playing, Young
Beautifully played
Nice, Young. Wish I could have informed you of the misprint B natural near the end before recording. Very impressive playing, though.
William VerMeulen yes! Will be more thorough in the future for sure-
Oooohhhh! Terrific, exciting and musical performance… What a pleasure!
Great!!😃😃😃Young Kim!!👍

Wonderful! 🎉🎉🎉
You sound so amazing Young!!!! You're the real deal. Love you,
MB! Thank you so much for watching! Hope we can cross paths again soon when we can openly perform in public again 😭
2:57 I hear the gregorian chant inspiration there. I think it might be an actual one, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Hello! The Gregorian chant Bozza quoted is “victimae paschali laudes” which was normally sung during Easter.
@@YoungKimHorn That's what it was! Thanks!

Good luck on your solo festival. The Arnold is a great piece! Hope you make it singing and enjoy yourself while performing!

i play 8 years on my french horn.... still can't play this.
No wonder bc its considered the hardest piece on french horn
wonderful playing musically! what equipments, horn and mouthpiece, do you use?
Kuo-Hua Chen Thank you for your kind words! I use Keith Berg’s double horn and Laskey 80Fe
@@YoungKimHorn thanks! I have Laskey 80Ge. Is 80Fe actually wider than 80Ge or just deeper?
Kuo-Hua Chen I believe it is only deeper cup. The inner diameter 80 stays the same.
