I love this. The animation is gorgeous, "Mr. Grinch is an amazing song, and the message is timeless. One of Chuck Jones' greatest masterpieces.

This was directed by Chuck Jones, who not only directed some Tom and Jerry episodes, he also did many Looney Tunes cartoons as well, especially Road Runner/Coyote shorts. That's why the expressions are so perfect.
I like how Rukiya's outfits kinda matches the movie she's watching in her reaction videos. I also like the comedy she has.

I adore the 66 Grinch. Boris Karloff's narration is delicious, the songs are wonderful, and Chuck Jones animates the heck out of it to cute extremes. Short, sweet, and no unnecessary ham (there's enough roast beast for everyone 😉)
i don't know about anyone else, but every holiday season, as soon as i watch this version of the grinch, i have to watch the 'horton hears a who" (1970) special right after -- it just completes the package for me idk lol

A classic! The movie honestly explains why the animation in the Tom & Jerry series looked so familiar when I was a kid. Chuck Jones animated both!

Chuck Jones, who made this with Dr. Seuss, was known for doing a lot of Looney Tunes short and pretty much established what we think of when we think of them. He and Dr. Seuss met during WWII and made cartoons for the military.

This is one of my favorite Christmas specials I enjoyed watching when it aired on Cartoon Network and Boris Karloff who is well known is his work in horror films such as The Mummy and Frankenstein does a remarkable job voicing the Grinch and the Narrator, even Chuck Jones does a fine job animating and directing this special. Hopefully you react to the 2000 Grinch movie starring Jim Carrey.

This special was directed by Chuck Jones, who did a lot of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts for Warner Bros back in the 40's and 50's. He made a lot of shorts with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, such as What's Opera Duck, Rabbit Seasoning, Rabbit of Seville, Duck Dogers in the 24 1/2th Century, Drip-a-long Daffy and the Scarlet Pumpernickel, as well the creator of the characters Marvin the Martian, The Road Runner and Wile E Coyote, Pepe Le Pew, Marc Anthony and Pussyfoot, Hubie and Bertie and Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog.
After breaching his contract by being involved in UPA's Gay Purr-ee (by co-writting the script with his wife Dorothy, and doing character designs), he formed Sib Tower studio, which made The Grinch along with newer Tom and Jerry shorts for MGM after their animation studio due to theatrical shorts lost demand due to the increasing popularity of the TV.

The True, Original Classic!
There is only one TRUE version of the GRINCH and this is it. Practically perfect, this little cartoon has all the heart andbite and sweetness of the classic book. Between Karloff's wonderful reading and Chuck Jones' spirited animation and direction, this is a Christmas masterpiece. I cant begin to hide my contempt for the mega-budgeted, bloated, all flash disaster that Ron Howard made recently. Hey, fine, go crazy, what worries me is that small kids will ONLY see the Jim Carrey's latex puppet mess andnot the original. PLEASE seek this out for your kids. It is beautiful.

I watched this as a kid and had slippers of max and I can’t to this day find those and had so much grinch stuff as a kid. This animation made me fall in love with the grinch and I only like this one and the Jim Carrey one.

I heard a theory that because of the who’s almost getting destroyed by being stepped on because they are so small they live in constant fear of being stepped on so that’s why they are always so loud but because of the the grinch stealing all they have to be loud with they all went outside to sing because they only have their voices left to be loud. MY STORY: the Who-village makes a lot of noise to survive and the present were toys which were noisy toys and when the Grinch stole the Christmas gifts, the people thought they were going to die and they tried to make a lot of noise by singing to survive, and the Grinch stole the present because he wanted to eliminate the whole village and wanted them to die, THAT'S HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS!

Why they were singing in the first movie is because in the book horan hears a who they try to make as much noise as possible so they won’t die and their gifts are mostly thing to make noise and the grinch stole all of the stuff so all they could do left is sing so they would die

Theory why the Who’s make so much noise: Everyone in Whoville is a small as a spec of dust that no one could possibly see. Since they could not be seen the made bunches of noice so they wouldn’t get squashed and go extinct. Also many people think that the who’s stared singing because they wanted to still enjoy Christmas but when the Grinch stole all of their loud stuff, they had to sing so they could be heard and not die.
