I’ve always thought that the reason the grinch’s lair in this version is a lot more ‘normal’ looking was bc this version of the grinch is supposed to be a bit more relatable than previous versions. he acts more like an everyday asshole rather than a cartoonishly disgusting beast. even the interactions in this version are more relatable, like being annoyed with an overly friendly neighbor putting up huge obnoxious lights or being tired of the same Christmas songs playing on the radio.

My brother and I theorized that the little boy running to his new parents at 8:02 is Bricklebaum. And that makes sense to why Bricklebaum considers him and Grinch friends, since they were in the orphanage together. And that explains why Grinch hates Bricklebaum cause he got himself a family and he didn't.
