Wow Great video! I think this kind of videos help people a lot to prepare themselves before moving to switzerland, something I would have appreciated 10 years ago before coming here from spain😅
I am currently also working in Zurich and I think my recommendations for people would be:
    - If you live outside of switzerland, don't come "to try", because the cost of living is not comparable to any of the european countries and you will see how your savings will be consumed before you find a job.
    - Prepare your languages, you will need them. Depending obviously on the sector I recommend at least a good level of English, but you will probably need to have a conversational level of German as well, at least if you live in the German part of the country. At first you will struggle with the Swiss dialect, but people are usually very understanding and will speak high German so you can converse.
    - For anyone outside of Switzerland who wants to live here permanently, you will need a residence permit. The reality is that you need a job first to apply for the permit and not the other way around, many companies will not want to hire you without the permit, but that job could help you get the permit. Talk it over with the company you are applying to or try to find a first job to get the permit and then everything will be fine.
Those would be under my point of view the most important points to take into account, I hope it helps some people who are encouraged to come to this wonderful country. Glad to help!
    Greetings guys!

For swiss or european citizens, the answer is very simple - it is easy. If you ask a third country national who has no swiss/eu spouse or relatives, it is not easy at all. You have to show the company that you are the one and only candidate for them, that no swiss/eu could be suitable for this job. Many international students came to Switzerland to study but they have to finally leave the country just because they are not swiss or eu citizen not because of them lacking competence. People just dont know how privileged they are.

I would like to speak from experience. Realistically; there is a BIG difference depending on whether you are a EU/EEA citizen or not. If you are non-EU and your line of work/studies are not in STEM (and if you would prefer working in the country that you have finished your master's in) I would NEVER recommend Switzerland. If I knew how hard it is before coming here, I would never come in the first place. Especially if you are looking for master's here and you are a citizen of an economically-challenged country & don't have wealth, don't pick this country. They only want the best of the best + EU + STEM people that they believe to be a great addition to the country. I know this is mostly true for all European countries but trust me, Switzerland is the hardest. You can make a quick search regarding their migration law. So for non-EU and non-STEM fellows out there, you can't work for the first six months when EU people can. You HAVE TO learn German which is fair i guess. There will always be a more qualified Swiss person for your line of work since they at least know 3 languages and they are already citizens, by the way I am not arguing the priority of citizens, I am just pointing out how impossible it would be for you here. If you are a non-EU and non-STEM student here that wants to work, good luck finding a field-related job. And it is so expensive to live here, so you will most likely need it. But then you have to prove a lot of things to work anyways. For an example how many credits you have accomplished, whether it is essential for your studies, would it prolong your studies etc. Also in the job applications, they usually state that they prefer EU/Swiss people anyways.
I mean, before coming here I had to write a letter that I would immediately return my country as soon as my studies finish so I guess it's not a surprise that I'm not wanted. It doesn't matter how qualified I am, my passport isn't qualified enough. I wanted to believe that it would be different for me since I am well-integrated and qualified but it doesn't matter. Germany has some new developments regarding non-EU skilled workers so I would recommend that if you want to suffer less. Good luck.

Such a good answer!! "You may be qualified, but your citizenship is not" - that pretty much summarises my ||Whole life-experience||.
Germany is better in accepting non-EU countries, albeit it's only artificial. As in - they know they need you for work, but that's it. Also, they get you here simply bc they don't have babies and as a result fail at replenishing the population. Which is very depressing, as it hints at the fact that they do not want to settle and have a family (if you aspire to that).
But what really sucks about Germany (besides the horrendous weather) is its policies and politics. High-ranked ministers who haven't completed a BSc. and all they want to talk is LGBTQ rights and climate change. Even more important, the inflation is staggering. The first moment something goes wrong in the world, Germany is the first to offer incredibly generous help (while people are so stingy themselves=>again artificial). Not to mention that quality of life doesn't come close to what you get in Switzerland (my ex was living there). The taxes here are a joke. And people don't have a zest for life, you may call it an identity crisis. Many of my German friends in Munich decided to leave at one point (because they could as EU citizens (even w/o a BSc!)). And also, 2 of my American friends left due to the low salaries and desperate life.
Surely it is better than some other EU countries (salary wise - if in tech!), but you certainly are losing more than benefitting. So for anybody looking to move to DE: just set your expectations low, and then even lower. And once here, fight to get the citizenship (which for Blue-card holders is 5 years + C1 German level!!!). After that, you can be a free human being and go to Switzerland, Hawaii, NZ or wherever your heart pleases. But please come with this goal in mind, and don't let depression crawl over you :)

I find this information really accurate, but let me just add my experience. In the IT sector it's still hard to find a job in switzerland if you are from abroad, even being an EU citizen. The market only starts to open up for you once you have a B permit and swiss residence. I hope I will be able to work there soon! Your videos are very cool!

I have the same experience. I work in Germany and am from EU, have 10 years of experience, Master degree in Software Engineering, speak German C1 level and tried once for a job in Zürich. in Germany all the companies accepted and welcomed me after interviews, in Zürich got the first refusal for a job 😮 I really did not expect that, especially that the interview went so well. It was such a bad experience, but it made me feel lucky with what I have. After all I have a over 100k salary in Germany, own two apartaments, why leave? 😅

I lived in a few countries and Switzerland reminds me of UAE in many ways. In both countries it is much easier if you are already in the country and apply with a local number/adress. However you will still need networking to get the really good jobs. Housing market in Switzerland is more difficult than in UAE because everybody has money in Switzerland compared to UAE where a lot of lower class workers from India/Bangladesh/Philippines live. In Switzerland is much more expected from you at work than for example in Germany, don't expect to have a very good Work/Life balance. Also everything tends to turn only about money, life and fun is not considered as important. For a few years to save money Switzerland is great, long term it depends what personality type you are.

I wanted to mentioned this to you because I noticed it a few weeks ago and as a video editor, I think you can change this while filming (if you have a camera, put it in automatic or if you are manual, you can change this when needed it. If I couldn’t work there in the future I would like to work in Germany, Austria or something like that.

For the ones that said that it's easy to find a job if you work in computer science...well it's not that easy. I've more than 8 years of experience in computer science and in six month on sending CVs I've made just a few interviews....In my home country they would constantly proposing me job opportunities given my seniority in the field. Just to be realistic on this: you need to have for sure the B permit first, things went better once I definitely moved to Switzerland and second even you have definetely more chances if you speak german fluently. Maybe 2-3 years ago the market was full with job opportunities in the computer science field but now to due the big layoffs of big companies it's hard to find a job.

Hello Claudia and Jan, I am bachelor in Physics and Mathematics, member of the Swiss Mathematical Society (offices at ETH Zurich, where Albert Einstein studied)I have published formulas at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology USA, I discovered when I was a student . They have been downloaded around 317 times from : Yale university, university of Toronto, university of Adelaide, University of Massachusetts, Norwegian university of Science and Technology and more; Russia, France, Singapore , China, Finland, England, Italy and more. I wanted to move to Switzerland, but it's very very difficult to get a job. I live in Mexico and Mexican Universities don't want to hire me by envy. Since many years ago I have sent emails to several Mexican Universities applying to work as a teacher and don't reply. I can't leave of Mexico for lace of money, I work as a viigilant and earn . around $354 USA .
