I didn't intend to watch your video but the moment you started with, "Hey cousins" I knew that's my sister right there. Sending you love from a Nigerian planning to japa after believing in making it in Nigeria after many many years.
Everyone's experience is personal. I immigrated to Switzerland when I was 58 y.o. I live in Basel and have found people very friendly. I have several Swiss friends whom I see frequently and with whom I go on holiday. Sure, Switzerland is not Italy, but I would describe it more as "reserved." Language is certainly an issue. I speak German, French and Italian in addition to English. Depressed? I am so happy to be here. Every day is a joy. I hope you make friends and find more happiness in Genève soon.
so true everything you say. I am a swiss in Kenya now. I had to explain my Kenyan girlfriend that swiss people are unfriendly. We even get offended if ppl are too friendly. what does he want? We do not pay attention to people that give us a service, that is their job. She thought me here that I have to chat with the people at the gate or with the bike taxi driver. We would just ignore them in switzerland. Me I m even worse I do not notice ugly ppl :-) So that attitude is not unfriendly it is just a way of live. On the other hand if you are hiking in the mountain you might great every person that is passing by. Yeah weird. Or if a swiss sees that someone is in trouble they help

People just don't want to engage in conversations with strangers. They are friendly in friendly settings, but on the streets, they just have somewhere to go and work to do.
