Many thanks for this. Even though this tutorial was with an old version of CorelDraw (because I am writing in 2019), and even though we now have auto - trace available, this tutorial was still useful to me. Thank you.
The techniques in this video work on any version of Correlated. Auto Trace is useful but by no means perfect. Auto Trace also requires a good quality jpg to start with. Some times that is not available. In many cases Autotrace require editing after it's use, especially if a very high quality file is required. Thank for your imput.

Auto trace is not perfect for some things, although it is good at things that are large, relatively simple blocks of colour (e.g., tracing fonts).
It seems to me that there is no perfect way of creating a vector from a bitmap if there are 'complicated' aspects to the original, such as smoothly drawn shadows.
I have learned this the hard way, but unfortunately am not a good enough illustrator/artist to re-create something from scratch.

Copying another centred circle would allow you to trim the oversized blue and red ying and yang shapes.

nice...so what would you do to finish this logo if you were sending it to a print shop for example?...how would you save it, join the layers etc?...

The font was close but not exact. What if I needed exact? Also, after you created the blue curvy figure, could you have duplicated it, rotated it and then changed it to red? Thank you. BTW, I enjoyed this video very much.
What if you need the exact Font?
You could search for an exact font or you can break the font in to individual letters and arrange and edit them as needed. Many times the only difference is a letter or two. Yes if the shapes are the same you can make a copy and rotate and re-position. Good Catch!

Saving as .eps or .pdf will allow it to remain a vector file and be usable by many different software packages.
I export my corel projects into SVG so I can import them into my embroidery and silhouette software
