I saw a lot of people on twitch claiming that "this isn't music" or other such inane things, so I wanted to drop by to voice my support for this soundtrack. Really cool and ballsy song choices and very impressive from a technical standpoint. Also, great job on the original composition!
Thank you so much for the kind words. To be honest I fully expected most people to be turned off by the music, but for a few people to like it a lot. (In reality the reception seems to be about 50/50, which was a nice surprise.) The first time I had someone tell me that I caused them to get into some new artists, it was immediately worth any negative reception.

I just want to tell you how much I love you. Back when I was in College in about 2015, I listened to R Plus Seven. It was so surreal and interesting. My hard drive bombed out and I couldn't find the name of the album or artist. I came across your comment and thought I'd check out oneohtrix point never. Boom, FINALLY found it! Thank you!

The sample for the main "melody" in this version feels like there's a tiny bit of extra delay on the attack (I think that's the terminology?) not present in the original, and it makes it sound like it's delaying the beat measure by measure... But it's *really* fucking cool. The song obviously isn't actually slowing down, there's just something hypnotic about it in this one and I love it

Very unique, but GOATED soundtrack! Your SNES recreation of "Oneohtrix Point Never - Power Of Persuasion" goes HARD AF and is arguably better than the original🔥🔥
Hell yeah. Looking forward for an unlikely Casio Mario World 2, with a similar soundtrack. It feels like throwing Mario into Silent Hill or something and it is awesome.

Both "The Field" songs are my favorite but I can enjoy all the music much the same. And the fact that they're original compositions makes it even more impressive. Excellent job with this soundtrack
Same here, I know I keep coming back to hear it all again! I had no idea what I was getting into watching, then my jaw hit the floor hearing the first ten seconds of The Reeling. I was captivated after that. The whole soundtrack gives me a Boards of Canada/Aphex Twin sort of vibe.
Easily my favorite soundtrack in any romhack I've ever played. What an absolute treat this was. Thank you for all the hard work you put into creating this masterpiece of a soundtrack and game

I download the mp3 in the playlist and I still listen to this playlist from time to time! Actually, that was what inspired me to rip another SMW hack soundtrack, that I didn't found here on youtube.
I don't know if this was actually the intent or not, but a while back i was introduced to "Casio Hellburst" in a group listening situation where the song names weren't revealed until the end, so I had no idea what it was from at first---but I immediately thought those bendy square wave lines in the back reminded me a ton of early rifts-era opn and i was curious if it was inspired by him somehow, despite being the opposite energy level. Needless to say I was very validated in my comparison when I saw the track listing for this! OPN has long been one of my favorite artists; so i was overjoyed when i found out this hack had this many brilliant ports of his work to snes limits (soundchip limits a topic itself i'm already very into) ((also pretty into chon and hiatus kaiyote, so it really blew my mind that this was real)). thank you so much for making this exist! The hack everyone wishes they made, so much love for the amount of effort that went into it. Really feel like the bar has been set for modern kaizo hacks.
i was very surprised when i figured out this is actually played on snes sound chip. Initially I thought it was streaming whole wavs from an impossibly large virtual cartridge xd that's how close these recreations are :0

If there's samples from a Casio I don't know about em - the title is just referring to Casio keyboards to tie in with the music focus in the hack, and also because it kind of almost sounds like kaizo. I'm glad you're still appreciating my work!
@@WyattCroucher Ah, neat lol; just wanted to make sure if there was any sort of deeper meaning to the title since it's definitely a interesting choice to go with a name like that, but if that's the reason then yeah, makes perfect sense haha
My goodness gracious. I only heard of Passion Pit from "Sleepyhead" and never the others, so this was a surprise to hear! Your original composition was great, too. Getting these to even play on SMW feels like witchcraft. Thanks for putting the time and effort into this soundtrack. I might never play the game (good gosh not with the difficulty it has now), but I'll return to this soundtrack for sure!
Mario World but you're sailing the seven seas, pirating every game in existence. This entire OST is a Joel Vinesauce Duane Moment. Learning that people hated on this OST. People are just insane. This is literally the same kind of music that they would get Kazumi Totaka to compose for games like Mario Paint and the unrelease DD Studio games. Shoot some of this kind of stuff even appears in Animal Cross as KK's tracks. People just don't know quality when they hear it.
Dear Wyatt, thank you for inspiration me for making my longest romhack. Sound very inspiring thank you so much. First One when I'm playing this hack, I'm very frustrating until destroy yang PC but I took this video I'm interesting to make romhack. I'm wait for the next romhack you make. Thanks
I had no idea the boss music was an original - awesome work, Wyatt! That track stands shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best video game music of all time.
Well, the name "Casio Mario" was making me think there'd be something like Casio keyboard demo songs (like the great Crystal Fountain(?) from the CTK-671) but these sometimes odd-sounding songs...they're good and work too! 0:00 I like when songs play interesting chords at different keys like this. It...makes me think of the past. 1:52 I also like this series of piano and bass notes, even in the original. (I think in ways I actually prefer this port; The original starts playing strange reversed voice samples that don't mesh as well with these samples.) 7:05 That's impressive sound quality from the SNES there! I guess there's more ARAM available when it's a shorter jingle used when completing a level. 7:15 While it's very...unusual-sounding, I just listened to the original and this is actually very close to it! I kinda wonder, even in the original, what the cut-off voice after the breaths is about to say... 30:20 Eeeeeeeeeeeeee~... EeeEeeeEeeeEeEeeeeEeeeEeee~... (Another accurate SNES port!) 37:06 Chords at different keys again!
I really love the music of this hack . It just stands out so much . As a listener of metal and experimental stuff , this really got me . I love this . Thanks for porting those wonderful pieces of music . Please make other hack
Like others, I wanted to leave my thoughts. I've been listening vaporwave, eccojams, and various types of noise soundscape with pop hooks for a while now. When I saw some of the level titles were OPN tracks, I was intrigued. And I never expected two things I like, Mario World hacks and experimental music to come together. It's very well done. Not only is it well done, it's fitting for the mixture of nostalgia and dread horror that you can experience while playing difficult Mario hack. People might say it doesn't fit but it does. People who don't see the artistic merits of it are just plain not sophisticated enough.
This soundtrack really made me want to do SNES music aswell, but it's a little hard to find what program I should totally use to do it. I really love and appreciate this soundtrack, it's so much fuckin fun.
Thank you! Us in the SMW community use PetiteMM to convert midis to mml, then use AddMusicK to turn the mml into SNES music. You have to know how to manually write and manipulate mml in a text editor to get the best results (you can learn some of this from the readmes that come with AddMusicK). There could be a better non-SMW way to make SNES music, but I wouldn't know it. The process can be tedious, but it's satisfying when it turns out good - if you try it, good luck!
@@WyattCroucher I really do want to try actually. That sounds like the kinda stuff I enjoy. And I really need more stuff I can enjoy right now. Thanks homie :)
Thank you for uploading this. You're talented. The instances where music makes me feel something are few and far between. Your hack brought me here. Cheers.
What an amazing soundtrack! Love the music choices (thanks for the artist discovery!) and the porting is so good! One day I'll be good enough to play and beat Casio!!! xP Also I was wondering, how did it go with finding songs for the levels? Were the levels mostly done before finding the music or did you build the levels with the songs in mind? The music and level design seems so well woven together!
Thanks! I made the first and last level with their music in mind, but for the rest I mostly just ported whatever I wanted and made levels with no music in mind, and then paired them together at the end.

I had no idea the boss music was an original - awesome work, Wyatt! That track stands shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best video game music of all time.
this..... slaaaaaaps..... !!
Wyatt ur a legend
Well, the name "Casio Mario" was making me think there'd be something like Casio keyboard demo songs (like the great Crystal Fountain(?) from the CTK-671) but these sometimes odd-sounding songs...they're good and work too!
0:00 I like when songs play interesting chords at different keys like this. It...makes me think of the past.
1:52 I also like this series of piano and bass notes, even in the original. (I think in ways I actually prefer this port; The original starts playing strange reversed voice samples that don't mesh as well with these samples.)
7:05 That's impressive sound quality from the SNES there!
(Another accurate SNES port!)
37:06 Chords at different keys again!

Cyro, Casio Hellburst and Riding Inside, definitely my favorites in this list, but overall, this soundtrack is a masterpiece.
Bliss.
This soundtrack is absolutely amazing
the reeling track is destroying my mind so bad... holy fkin shit is this track awesome !!!!!!!!
By Fire in this is so so good it’s unreal
Isso é uma obra prima. 🇧🇷
com certeza!
Passion Pit - the reeling brought me here
Amazing
One day I'll be good enough to play and beat Casio!!! xP
Also I was wondering, how did it go with finding songs for the levels? Were the levels mostly done before finding the music or did you build the levels with the songs in mind? The music and level design seems so well woven together!
Thanks! I made the first and last level with their music in mind, but for the rest I mostly just ported whatever I wanted and made levels with no music in mind, and then paired them together at the end.
The song ports are so accurate to the point where this video got a heck ton of copyright claims.
Man that Casio version of by fire just hits the spot
never been happier dying on repeat
