I was terrible at this game, but I remember the soundtracks and audio in general sounded amazing coming out of an old CRT speaker, and coming back after all these years it sounds even better!
@@roilo8560 Casiopea's "Time Limit" is full of Gran Turismo-like racing music. Space Circus "Funky Caravan" is also good. I also have a playlist in my account that has a few other classics and bangers.
So good, especially the first stage track. You can tell it has influences of the original R-Type stage 1. And the composer must've been a big jazz music fan too!

These guys REALLY loved the S-SMP. And their samples. Bass is like every late 70's/early 80's fusion slap sounds gooood on monitors, tight as heck
I always gamed on a mono 70-80s color TV. Good bass in those speakers, but man, rediscovering this in proper stereo with proper speakers is awesome.
Pound for pound the best 16- bit soundtrack of the generation. It just shows off over and over again.

This is the second game I had for the SNES after the bundled SMW and it's no wonder I just came to love Japanese fusion jazz/funk in my forties :)
