That's informative. 100% I would have mistaken that for rust.
Me too ..it was wild how that stuff actually burned 🔥
Wow that’s a long time to own a bike. Hope it’s back on the road soon.
The funny thing is that it seems like just yesterday when I was flying around like a hooligan on that thing .And the older I get the faster I was ...ha ha ..
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers 🍻
Checked out your channel...man oh man you have some sweet machines. Good videos too !
Your videos are very interesting and informative. Your videos gave me the courage to remove the carburetor from my son's scooter, disassemble it, clean it and reassemble it then undo the fuel tank valve to take it apart for inspection. Now his scooter works well.
Thank you for your videos
Hey man thats really great .I'm genuinely happy for you to have been able to get your sons scooter up and running. Thats what it's all about .This is 100% why I like to make these kinds of videos. You made my day with this comment. Thanks for taking the time to let me know .Cheers my friend 🍻
Whoa! name dropping ultimate cycle!? Im in Hamilton myself those guys are awesome. I have to go down there today actually for a part they ordered for me and ive also done some machining work for them. I thought I recognized the track in your DRZ oil change video. Awesome videos man, quality motorcycle content.
Hey thanks Sherman , yes Bryan and Tim are top-notch characters for sure .Tell them I said hi when you're there today .I'm guessing you do track days as you actually recognized the TMP track in Cayuga. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to leave me such a great comment. Cheers to you good sir 🍻
@@TRyanLearnBikesI will say hello for sure. I also have done a few track days at TMP, this year I plan to get out a lot more. Hope to see you there one day.
I’m really glad I stumbled onto your channel! Very informative, cleaver & funny. Your first video I saw got me to subscribe w/notifications. Putting the tank in the dyer was brilliant w/kudos from the wife for refreshing the blanket is classic. Great job & thanks again!
Hey BigBilly81 ,Thanks very much for your kind comments and also for subscribing ,I genuinely appreciate it . Its great to hear that you enjoy my sometimes weak attempts at humor , the jokes don't always land that well but always make me laugh when I'm shooting the video so I usually leave them in . Thanks again ,cheers to you good sir 🍺
I've never bought a used gas tank before... but if I ever do, that nifty blow torch test looks fun 😳😖🤣🤣
Yes its not a common practice but if you ever do ,approach with caution for sure . Thanks Wayne
As soon as I saw the cap on it I knew it wasn't good, lots of info and what to look for when buying online...
Oh ya its always a risky gamble .But most people are pretty good.
Your video as are so great. Well edited, funny and full of knowledge. Awesome!
Hey Ron thats really kind of you to say .I truly appreciate that you watch and take the time to comment. Your positive words have a huge impact. Cheers 🍻
Awesome man I hope you get your first bike back on the road! My dad still has his first bike the RD350LC and rides it every season. Good luck good sir!!
Hey thanks very much .I'm definitely looking forward to getting the old machine back.up and running. Thats fantastic that your dad still has his first bike and rides it every year .I want to take a page out of his book and do the same thing .Thanks again for watching and always commenting so positively. Cheers to you good sir 🍻
My first bike was a 1984 Interceptor I paid 3600 Brand new and pushed it out the front door of the dealer into the pouring rain . lol Do stupid shit safely lol. I liked watching this. interesting. I want to see the part 2
That's pretty cool..there's nothing like being the first owner of a brand new bike, that's for sure.Yes part two should be quite interesting. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Kev .Cheers buddy 🍻
The old tank would make a good musical instrument, where did you end up when you flew off, really enjoyed your video.
@@georgemacdonald5282 Thanks very much George , the musical instrument idea is a good one I may give that a try , might make a cool video..Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Cheers 🍺
$75 is nothing to a wealthy dimmable bulb. Lol. And thank you for the explosion.
My pleasure. I thought you may enjoy seeing me get blown up .
Dimmable bulb....hmm,..ok....ok .. it looks like you may have another cameo appearance coming up soon .
Just subsribed, I really like your style. Did the video about relining a tank already drop?
@@patrickvanden8322 Hi Patrick .Thanks very much man I genuinely appreciate you watching and subscribing. That video about the tank getting professionally refined is taking a disappointingly long time for them to do .I made the mistake of telling them that there was no rush and they could fit it in when ever they had time...now I'm sure they've forgotten about it..Thanks for bringing it up , I will contact them tomorrow and get the ball rolling. Thanks again for subscribing it really means a lot .
Cheers my friend 🍺
Okay, didnt expect to see the burning crust!
Me neither
That's a bugger on that tank and that will be an interesting video on fixing the tank man
Yes ..not exactly what I expected but it wasn't a total loss because the video was a fun one to put together so it worked out ok .And seeing how the pros reline the original tank should be a good one to document.
Hows your summer been? Have you and Bolt been getting heaps of riding in ?
The tank can be repaired but you have to put a lot of hard work. have spent hours making a patch employing an english wheel and a bunch of inappropriate for young children language. But sometimes you are in a situation where the replacement part is made from unobtainium. My answer to these problems is, "Know your limitations, then ignore them". Sounds stupid but when you push your limits you sink or swim, yep sometimes you fail the first time but try again till you figure it out.
Hey Thomas this is a really great comment . The underlying message is excellent and your delivery was very well crafted . I truly appreciate you watching and taking the time to script such a gem .Its in the top 10 of my favorite comments ever recieved on this channel .Cheers to you good sir 🍺
Thanks for the complement, Sir. I just wish the kids and grandkids grasped the skill and effort used to craft some of these projects handed to me. Hate to say it they don't have much interest in hands on other than one, who is now an apprentice in machine tool trades. Son-in-law thinks he is a skilled tradesman in numerous areas, that is if you could get him off of Tick Tok, long enough to learn how something is really done. I guess we are the last of the Can Do It generations. @@TRyanLearnBikes
Geez she over 40 years old
Oh yes ..she's a vintage beauty .And is heaps of fun to ride .
WOW !, have you every seen an automotive junk fire from many years ago before EPA got involved. PS, I miss my GT350 from the 80's great bikes, scary at high speeds.
@tomvanalst8533 I haven't seen the junk fire you mention but I will try to find it .
Your old GT350 sounds like a nifty old school bike .I will look it up to have a look .Was that one a two stroke like the GT750's ?
@@TRyanLearnBikes gt-350, 2 stroke, 3 cyl, ram air scope air cooled, 4 exh pipes. 1st gear was useless off the line unless you wanted to smoke the rear tire.
@@TRyanLearnBikes yes, just smaller displacement.
@@tomvanalst8533 very cool bike for sure .I bet it was a blast to ride
No container that has ever held a fuel, liquid or gas, can ever be considered to be free of flammable fumes. I don't care how many times you wash or clean it out !!!
Since I routinely cut, weld, braze, and grind on these types of containers, I do it quite safely.
I fill the tank with CO2.
I have CO2 in tanks for MIG welding, but I also use dry ice, ( solid CO2 ).
Dry ice rapidly sublimates from a solid directly to a gas, with out entering a liquid state.
When I was a kid, and didn't have access to CO2 in cylinders, or Dry Ice, I would put some baking soda in the tank/container, and pour in some common vinegar.
Instant CO2 !!! Cheap and Quick !!!
No chance of an explosion or fire, because the container has no oxygen in it to support a fire or explosion.
Simple, safe, effective !!!
Please don't hurt or kill yourself, because safety is so simple and cheap.
CO2 in gas form, leaves no deposits either !!! the vinegar and baking soda is simply flushed out with plain hot water !!!

@MrTIGERH1752 Thats some good information 👌 Thanks for watching and for taking the time to pass along some great intel
Cheers 🍺
If you're storing an empty tank Fogging Oil is your friend.
Solid tip 👌 Thanks for that one .Cheers 🍻
Thanks! I didn't even know such a thing existed. TH-cam videos and their comments are so educational.
Wasnt expecting that, bummer. Everyone thinks they got gold on their hands. Maybe someone out there is buying 600 dollar tanks of dubious quality. A high-school friend of mine burned his house down welding on an atv tank!
Holy jeez man thats wild your buddy burned his house down messing around with a gas tank .Yes you need to be 100% sure it's fume free.
As you know all too well any parts for vintage bikes can fetch crazy prices and we have to careful to balance need vs want .Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers my friend 🍺
you can Solder the tank with lead soldier
@@jedi-mic Thats good to know .I have an old 1969 Z50 tank full of holes that needs repairing .I will give it a try and see if I can fix it .Thanks for the info. Cheers 🍻
