    Thanks for recording your microlocs journey. I am 6 months locd. I have 243 locs and they have filled out so nicely. Like you, I was 10 years loose natural and I liked it at first. Enjoyed trying different styles but somewhere along the way the fun stopped and it was just me having to think ahead to the next day to make sure that my hair was going to be ready for whatever occasion or outing. But with the pandemic I stop doing anything with my hair. My sister was considering getting traditional locs and so I started looking into it and found that I could do locs and I want my locks to be a little smaller than pencil size. I found a loctician.. She happened to be a Sisterlocks loctician also. I scheduled my appointment and told her what I wanted. It took 3-4 hours but I left her with two strand twist microlocs. It's been great ever since! I don't have to think about my hair. It looks nice and I'm always getting compliments on it! It's great!

    • @AShasa35
      @AShasa35 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I figured I would go to her for 6 months for my retightenings and then I will take it over. But I am going to continue with her for now. I do eventually want to do my retightenings myself.

      Hey there. I’m exploring microlocs too and this was helpful. I have short (3-4 inch) natural hair though so wondering if I should wait till it’s longer.
      Anyway I specifically wanted to say 👋🏾 Hi because I’ve never seen someone with a name spelling like mine: cap/apostrophe/cap! Curious how you got the name DM if you want to swap name stories 😊 A’Lexa

    • @AShasa35
      @AShasa35 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hawkinsenterprise2987 It's up to you. They say short 4c hair locs faster than longer hair. I am now a year in and I am not completely locked. I have ends that are still twisted. If you can find a loctician that can do your hair at the length that it is, I say go for it. I don't think you will regret it.

    I had traditional medium locs for seven years and I have been a loose natural for 7 or 8 years. It’s definitely time for a second set of locs. It will be micro locs this time around. I have an appointment set up for July.

      Technically, your schedule is determined by your rate of hair growth (that and whether your hair grows into or outside your locs). So if you grow up to an inch in 4 weeks you'll most likely be put on a 4 week schedule. I've known people who take a good 11 weeks to grow three-quarter inch, so they're put on an 11 week schedule. It really depends.

My husband and I both work two jobs and having two daughters with very long natural hair is time-consuming. I've had my hair natural since high school since perms were damaging my hair. I used to wear my natural hair in twists take them out every two weeks, wash and redo, but even that became tiring. I got tired of taking them down and redoing it. I now have micro braids that will eventually lock. Are there any products you can recommend? My scalp has been itching like crazy. I'm not sure what to do being that I just had my hair installed. I love her though… I had a bad experience with the consultant that established my locks. The trainee I have now is super thorough and does amazing work. I’m mixed and have the curl pattern most prone to loose hairs and slow to lock. My grid disappears quickly after reties. Plus I’m super tender headed. When I leave her chair my grid looks brand new, each lock lays perfect and my head doesn’t hurt. Since I started with her I don’t have those little white follicle I thought were a normal part of locks. So until I can and willing do my own reties, she’s worth the drive.
