  • Richard Dawkins speaks with young Saudi Arabian atheist Rana Ahmad, author of the new book Frauen dürfen hier nicht träumen (Women Aren’t Allowed to Dream Here).
    They discuss the plight of atheists in Saudi Arabia and how she and her fellow freethinkers found new hope and new ideas from an unofficial translation of The God Delusion in Arabic.
    In coordination with the Center for Inquiry, the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science has launched the Translations Project, giving folks like Rana free access to the books of Richard Dawkins professionally translated into languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Indonesian, and Farsi. We also have our Secular Rescue program which provides emergency assistance to atheist writers, bloggers, publishers, and activists who face threats due to their beliefs or expressions regarding religion - secular-rescue...
    Special thanks to Atheist Refugee Relief (ARR), which assists atheists in Germany, such as Rana, who have escaped persecution in Islamic countries. Learn more at atheist-refuge....

      TO ALL MUSLIMS: These are questions to you from the non-islamic world.
      ======================
      EXPLAIN: ((Islamist test))
      1) Freedom of speech is punishable by death.. literally.. (Charlie Hebdo)
      2) Islam claims governance in its core, no matter how inadequate it is.. There is no such thing in Islamic culture nor texts as "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." (Hence, Sharia Law)
      ======================
      ANSWER:
      ((moderate muslim apologist test))
      What's the punishment of (in Quran and Hadith):
      - Apostasy / Infidels
      - Adultery
      - Sex before marriage
      - Thievery
      - Homosexuality
      - Inheritance and Testimony of a woman = half of a man
      - Wife inobedience (beating)
      ======================
      How about you describe how you feel, and your family about those "sins"?! and their punishments?!
      How about you describe your country laws against them?!
      How about you describe your sharia laws against them?!
      How about you describe what will happen if someone confessed in public to these sins?!
      STOP sugarcoating and misleading others....

      @Mohamed Mo You are either lying or wrong. Ayaan did not flee the Netherlands, nor did she lose her Dutch nationality. So filled in the wrong day of birth and her grandfathers name on her assylum request. The Netherlands did not really care about the day of birth, but at first did not accept the wrong name. But since it is legal in Somalia to use our grandfathers name instead of your, it was ultimately decided that here assylum request was legal.
      She did not flee from the Netherlands! At least, not from the state, as you are trying to suggest. The Dutch Government continued to protect her while she was in the US. Protect her from muslims by the way.

    • @RJVeld
      @RJVeld 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mohamed Mo I don't know anything about what she did after she left the Netherlands, but ultimately it was decided that she did not do anything unforgivably wrong.
      The Dutch minister was a friend of hers. She nevertheless tried to revoke her nationality because she wanted a reputation as 'tough' politician as she was in a race to take her party leadership. It ultimately backfired on her, on costed her her political career.
      You make it look like the Dutch strongly dislike her or something, but that is just not the case.

      I congratulate you in leaving the religion of hate and religion of evil. However, when it comes to is there a God or not, it does not mean you left allah the moon god that you are an atheist. knowing the true God is a personal experience is not just an idea or you are born as a muslim or Jew that is not true. All children are born the same without religion as islam declare all are born muslims that is not true but I am sure all muslim children are taught from day one of their life that they are muslim. Being an atheist is faith as well. Atheist has no proof there is no God it is faith. What I want you to know leaving islam does not make you an atheist, you left the religion of islam . there are 4000 gods one is true and the rest are false or satanic like the god of islam. My opinion if there is a true God which I believe there is , He must manifest himself to you in a convincing way. It is personal relationship not as nation. I do not believe coincident made the universe. 1st matter dos not spontaneously exist or invented or vanish.My 1st question to my self How, when, the universe come to existence? That is before any evolution or any thing like that. Then how life in human animal plants and all other living being come to existence? Then the evolution does not show us any specie changed from another specie? Do you know we cannot make in the lab a biological cell one biological cell we cannot make one biological cell inspite we know how its structure and the material and we can make the suitable environment? We can make a living cell that does not reproduce other cells so it would die. So think logically but not believing in islam would not make you an atheist and not believing in the moon god allah will not make you an atheist. I can be agnostic but I would search for the truth. As n MD I cannot believe in both the evolution that has missing links since there are a huge gap between human and the most intelligent animal and we and apes are cousins, I refuse to be from the same family as an ape. If you have any answers to my questions, please provide me with them. Those scientists not all some of them thins the are the true gods.

Also, providing it for free online will reach far more people than a physical book that costs money. It's all about the family and the kind of upbringing. I had an Islamic upbringing, was taught prayers, Quran, celebrations etc in early age. One great thing though is that my family while insisting I pray in time etc, theytrusted me to do it without checking on me or forcing me, they always said don't fear us, fear your Creator. I always was free to ask questions about our existence and asked all sorts of paradoxical questions. And they took it with open heart, and when they didn't know the answer they would admit it. What is going on here with this woman is that she wasn't convinced and needed to be let go. I'm not certsin her story checks out though, that she didn't kniw about Atheism before finding Dawkins book, and that her brother hired someone from the darknet to track his sister to kill her. Sounds like something from what a typical Atheist script. But I as a Muslim totally agrees that she is free to believe what she wants. Her family did an effort to convince her, but they cant make faith into a cultural issue and force her to cover up. But they also can't ship her to other countries just because she wants to wear minidkirt.

      If it is all about the family ,why are muslims taught to love allah and mohamed more than their own parents and children?
      God is love? ..... love him above all humans?
      If you can convince people the glorious leader is more important than your own parents and children..... you are in a cult, no doubt about it.
      When you are willing to kill or even stand by and turn a blind eye when others kill in the name of allah/mohamed or any other made up god you are in a cult.

      @@KevinUchihaOG You are correct. 50% sound too high. I am confident it is not correct. However, the trend of Iranians leaving religion is very significant. It has been pointed out as a threatening social phenomenon by some religious or state news networks. It is worthy to mention that criticism of religion and clergy is an old trend in Persian culture and literature. I think Spiegel published a report about the atheism trend in Iran several years ago.

      @@Natorz111 i live in Sweden and i personally don't know any people who believe the bible or quran. But i have met people who do. And 1% is way to low. Just google the stats. For example in Sweden 45% of people say they adhere to a religion. Sure that doesn't mean they live their life by the books or so. But that most mean they atleast believe in God, why else would they be part of a religion? Only 17% self identify as an atheist, sure more people probably don't believe in a God but still don't identify with atheism. But still your 1% figure is waaaay off. Google it.

      He said that the commercial markets will be many
      He said that religion will be weak
      He is the one who said that unethical things will happen on the road like adultery
      He is the one who said that time and time will be short
      It was he who said that Jerusalem would be taken by the Muslims, then the Jews would take it, and at the end of time the Muslims would take it
      He is the one who said that sedition will follow like what has happened in this time
      He was the one who advised turning the sleeping body for a long time so as not to eat and it is a norm now, as in Surat Al-Kahf.
      He is the one who said that the sun runs by modern science
      Whoever searches fairly in Google will find many clues. And what is mentioned in some of the false hadiths is not a measure or some
      Wrong applications are not a measure either, with a wealth of evidence
      As for his evil dilemma, it is necessary, and the dilemma of imperfection is necessary. Inequality is needed
      Because perfection, justice, beauty and goodness ... are in paradise only
      Satan's torment and punishment for expulsion and cursing him
      As for seeing God Almighty, it is the greatest blessing that a Muslim will receive in Paradise
      And noticing Satan, he made himself bad for him. After seeing the kingdom of God
