So once you hit this ending it's a real success, while the other failed ending is that the Heavenly Ordained Man ends up with the tight hoop again, thus starting another cycle of reincarnation.

Sorry, you got it mixed up. The one who shot down the nine suns was Hou Yi. Erlang Shen's mother, the Jade Emperor's sister, fell in love with a mortal. She was imprisoned by the Jade Emperor inside Mountain Hua. Yang Jian used an axe (the same axe he uses at the start of the game) to split open Mountain Hua and rescue his mother.

Because this is just a test. Erlang is as powerful as Wukong, they can't defeat each other in the lore one on one. Erlang here (in the game) is just to test Destined One, he's not really for winning. Even if Destined One stab him in the end, he still can't die. He's just a bit tired after the fight, we can see him stand up and talk afterward like nothing ever happened. 🙂

Plus, the Four Heavenly Kings are big deals, they are the protectors of heaven and the four cardinal directions, so the true boss battle wouldn't have been so... short, and the build up was poor.

The 4 heaven kings have their own origin story in a different novel Fengshen. I like it that the game preserved their holy artifacts and their power faithful. Though they didn't show the special ability of the sword which is a windstorm full of blades.

This is also probably the few times that I actually agree with IGN. lol I have been waiting for this game for years now. It's very rare to see a game these days use traditional material and transform it into a fullout modern masterpiece in any culture really. I just tried it out a couple days ago and holy cow, was I blown away by the intricate story line, combat system, or even the graphics. Never seen our gaming community so happy about the game, for a long period of time back when assassin creed origins I felt same joy

This game feels like actual gods clashing and fighting, giants splitting and breakinf mountains, entire region affected. Ragnarok feels like superhumans with powers that supposedly influence the nature around them but didn't do it at all
