IG main here. im gonna go ahead and say, if you want to have the most fun possible in this game, use insect glaive. i ran some calculations and according to my data, during a hunt the insect glaive gives the most serotonin per second (sps) of any weapon in this game. give it a try if you havent already, say no to gravity, and come fly with us.
FASCINATING DATA! 😤 I've had a BLAST getting to know it a bit better, definitely going to be spending A LOT more time playing it!!
As an IG user, I back up this data. Helicopter is fun, and mounting monsters even more fun.
Pros of insect glaive:
- Fun
- Who needs the ground anyway
- What do you mean half your moveset is locked behind terrain?
- Comes with a cool bug friend
Cons of insect glaive:
- Still can't find the orange extract
@@backslash4141 so real dude, im beginning to think that orange extract is a myth, similar to deviljho eating his own tail
goated comment. IG mains are best mains
1st stage of HH: Playing most songs in your list
2nd stage of HH: Using flourish and hilt stab to queue songs faster
3rd stage of HH: Dealing increased DPS using performance attacks on heads
4th stage of HH: sniping monster heads, forward backslams, you are waltz of death to the poor creature before you while your teammates getting buffed is just a secondary consequence of wrath that you bring
5th stage of HH: Actually playing stamina songs when IG, DB, Bow users are in a party
The first rule of HH club...
This👌
Hard to do fifth stage when they don’t go into the yellow cloud and just stare at you
Want to add another level of support? Add some wide range. People love me
YES most of my HH builds have widerange maxed out. ^^@@rickp8938
Sns main here. You missed something important. Sns CAN wound parts in one clutch claw attack without the clutch claw boost skill. You just need to clutch on to the monster with the clutch claw uppercut, then do your clutch claw attack. It will wound in one go. Clutch claw uppercut can be tricky to land and requires some practice, but mastering it is essential for advanced Sns play. Sns and dual blades are the only 2 light weapons that can wound in one attack.
Oh DOPE! I knew about the claw uppercut, I even recorded it a bunch haha, but I didn't realise it was an instant wound - very helpful info, thank you for posting this!!
@@lightitupdannot instant, you need to clutch uppercut and do a weapon attack. The uppercut counts as half of the tenderize so you could also do two claw uppercuts for the same effect
As a CB main I can say there is nothing greater than hitting the tail of the monster with the first hit of the SAED (where you make a swipe with the axe to put it on your left shoulder) cutting it and then completely whiffing the rest of the SAED. So much joy and pain in one moment...
Haha, I can relate to this!
Every single time I step away from MH and then comeback I pick up a different weapon. It helps me learn every weapon and keeps the game fresh. Definitely my favorite way to play
Edit: haven’t used ranged weapons almost at all. The few times I did I absolutely HATED it
I completely get what you're saying, the same thing happens to me! It's like your overall mastery of the game improves with learning each weapon! Try LBG with the new wyvern fire counter mod, it's pretty fun
GL main here - you have three different types of shelling on gunlance: Normal, Long, and Wide. Normal receives a bonus for full burst, long shells have a bonus to charged shells, and wide gets bonuses to wyvern fire and wyrmstake cannons
Useful insights here, thanks for posting!
When i started to play, i mastered longsword first, then Greatsword, Charge Blade and Hunting Horn(but i still didn't beat Fatalis solo with the HH). I tend to use HH more times when i'm playing with friends. it's incredible how every weapon in this game is so fun to play.
I love how learning one weapon helps make you better with all of them?! Such a cool thing
Interesting tidbit about Hunting horn. It has one of the strongest clutch claw attacks in the game. And strangely enough it's mounting finisher attack is unbelievably strong, one of the strongest in the game. It isn't out of the ordinary with a powerful endgame build for the mounting finisher to deal over 1000 damage. Raw hunting horn is very strong, but in certain matchups against monsters that have very good elemental hitzone values. Elemental Hunting horn can be exceptionally powerful. The echo spin attack scales quite well with elemental damage and can do BIG numbers.
I love the echo spin as a punish for when the monster’s toppled!
I am a Hammer player for a really long time, now I’m having fun with the bow, really love that weapon, is amazing how much the game changes when you change your weapon
That’s awesome! I strongly suggest people try out different weapons, it adds so much to your experience!
Congratulations on hitting 10 000 subscribers! Loving your videos and this game
Thank you so much!! So glad you're enjoying them!!
I'm really glad you responded! Could you make a video evaluating or explaining the best upgrade trees in the MHW base game? Another video suggestion could be to give each boss a "quick tip" or something you should do. For example Miosma Decoration versus Vaal Hazak.
@@Crizpp These are fantastic suggestions mate, I'll note these down for sure!
Hunting Horn main here! While the songs and notes might look a little scary at first it’s actually quite simple and intuitive and only takes about a day to really get the feel for things. Depending on which Horn you pick, after a bit of playtime you’ll develop your own combos to link your notes together to queue up your songs for a recital. If you have a Horn with a Red Note (and also bought Iceborne) you gain access to the Impact Echo Wave which is a very simple and strong offensive move for when a monster is downed. Line up three, pop your three blasts, encore for the big one on the head.
Positioning and getting a feel for your speed is key but thanks to Self Improvement which comes on all horns, you’re basically never going to bounce off a monster’s hide so you spend less time worrying about hitzones and more time setting up songs or moving into a good spot to land the big parts of your combos.
I am also a hunting horn user but still need more practice 😅
@@djplayz9389 How to Hunting Horn in 2 steps:
Step 1: doot doot
Step 2: bonk
@@satryowicaksono4944 understood doot doot's and MASSIVE bonks
I love HH so much! 😭❤
I dabbled with the horn and it was really fun to use. I wasn’t fully proficient with it but intermediate enough to get my recitals and get the job done.
The charge blade is a swiss army knife with it's multiple unique playstyles. The most important thing to do is just keep your shield charged. From there, all the weapons moves and abilities get fully unlocked. It is a complex weapon with many moving parts, the timers and gages you have to keep track of, but I can confidently say it's the most satisfying weapon to master. For those up for a challenge, the Charge Blade should be your go-to
One of my favourites for sure!! Although after diving into insect glaive, I’m definitely gonna have to spend a lot more time with that now!!
Love your Monster Hunter content man!!
Appreciate you mate!! So glad you enjoy it!!
This is fantastic and phenomenal weap review
That means the world, I’m so glad!!
You got the sub and like brody, I saw the events posts and this my 3rd time here. So here we stay
Appreciate you mate, welcome to the community!!
I started with a charge blade when I first played and almost gave up til I found out how the mechanic works now that shit is a beast
It’s a lot of fun for sure!
AWESOME VIDEO
LANCE TEAMMMMMMMM
Thanks mate!! LOVE lance!!
this is a fantastic summary Dan!
Thanks man!! Means a lot especially from yourself!!
Like a wise man once said: "They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong."
Well said!! 😤💥
18:12 the mobility is absolutly insane and Probably one of the selling Points for HH no other weapon moves as fast as HH With thier weapon drawn ur movement Melodie is really really strong
Great info here!
thanks homie!
New LS user here, but along with the dope ass counters the sound it makes when you counter just keeps me on playing LS. (the regular iai slash has i frames too, its useful if you’re not confident in the spirit slash or want to practice but i have been informed the regular iai slash has less invincibility frames)
Longsword is just so much fun!! Yeah, the s are right at the start of the regular iai slash, like they are in the dodge roll, and are similarly minimal too. Really hard to pull off and will likely be landed by accident more than anything else haha
also! both iai attacks are counters, and the regular slash powers up your spirit gauge for 30 seconds if you’re able to hit the counter, as opposed to 15 seconds regularly. also the rate of spirit gauge refill depends on what your spirit gauge level is at. i have so many little niche information about LS it’s kinda sad 😭😂
6:22 also about spirit helmbreaker, after the spirit thrust, you can actually influence the direction your character jumps by inputting a direction after the thrust. i’ve only seen it work sideways and forward, not backward, but sometimes that info is useful. also when in the air, pressing rt+y or triangle again and using your joystick to input a direction will allow you to change the direction you’re facing midair so you don’t miss your helmbreaker.
@@xpect6438 such great knowledge here!! thanks for posting this!!
CB main here. You guys really need to try this because you can charge your sword causing an extra little hit at the end of an attack, charging your shield can lead to a very strong axe attack, and savage axe if you guys didn’t know it is literally just an incredibly strong chainsaw used to cut through your enemies in a flashy way. If you haven’t already, try this weapon and don’t give up trying to learn about it. It’s super fun and it leads to many victories when you get used to it.
CB is dope yeah, I did a full overview of it here: th-cam.com/video/HE5fB-LjyBo/w-d-xo.html
Primarily a Bow and Dual Blades main since 2013. Love the stamina management and balancing offensive skills with evasion/stamina skills in the latest two games. I also enjoy a bit of Charge Blade and LBG. I've been playing through Worldborne with Greatsword, recently, and I must say it's the most difficult weapon I've tried to use due to it's slow attacks and importance when it comes to positioning. The only reason I've gotten as far as I have as easily as I have is thousands of hours of prior experience with the game. For being, on the surface, the simplest weapon, I think GS is the hardest to learn because it requires lots of game sense rather than just learning the weapon.
You’ve got a really nice mix going here, love that! I’m starting to really dig Insect Glaive, going to have to start making a build for it I think!
@@lightitupdan glaive is interesting. I only ever used it for my first time through the iceborne story, I definitely need to spend more time getting to know it.
I agree with this, GS is a weapon that seems simple but really only works optimally when you absolutely know the monster inside and out, and that can take dozens of successful hunts. I'm also a DB main though 😂 much more agile and forgiving when paired with good stamina management
@@koko4620 DB is simple enough that we can focus on our stamina and funny movement lol
Huntinghorn/Hammer Main Here. People Love me even If they dont say IT haha. Dualblades Love my Max stamina buff and everyone loves the health, Attack and defense Up buff. 😎
NICE! I'm a huge Hammer and HH fan myself! 😤
ive used every weapon extensively (mhr and hr 999 with almost 4k hours spread on 3 saves) and long sword is unironically the hardest to master for me, charge blade was way easier to understand haha
Haha wow! Totally understandable though mate, different weapons are gonna stick better for different folks!
For me, charge blade is a pretty easy weapon to understand and use. If you know how to charge the shield, blade or make it into pizza cutter, its pretty much the same as the other weapons. Keeping up the buff for ig is much harder thing to do than charging phials
@@zrevi5918 what I realize a lot of people find hard about it is the difference between aed and saed along with how to guard point consecutively
On the long sword , if your mid air and the monster turns your can hit triangle on ps to turn in mid air
Great tip! I just need to practice it all more, I suck at helm breakers haha
I just started playing mhw a month ago, i fell in love with dual blades, then sns, and then ls... But ultimately I've been smashing MR with solo hbg
Welcome to MHW!! That's a super nice mix, love to see it!!
Me sitting here overwhelmed trying to find a good secondary weapon that I can love outside of bow. 😂 perfect timing on the video 👌🏽
Haha wow this came out JUST when you needed it!! Hope it’s been helpful for you!!
charge blade is so rewarding and really not that hard to learn just alot to remember. i know the CB inside and out but can't get my head around switch axe for the life of me 😂( learning guard points is alot easier then it sounds but allows you to be far more aggresive and actually is a great skill to learn for other weapons aswell that use counters or i-frames as its timing based)
It’s really rewarding and satisfying yeah!! I can never remember the guard point attacks in the heat of the moment haha, I’m gonna need to practice that some more!!
U Said u can Transform Ur lbg to counter Wyvern. But how? Is it a mod or just the Right input? I use xbox Controller so normally its aim+B to out in gorund, havent figure out how to counter atm
its in the bowgun mod. i forgot the exact name wyvern something but only lbg can equip it. just press circle and instead of planting the mine, it will shoot it.
change the mod and test it in the training area
Hey bud! It's an LBG specific mod "wyvernblast mod", shows up as "wyvern blast type 2" when equipped! Then it's just pressing B to fire it off! 💥
GS Represent!
Great choice! 😤
How does charge blade sound more complicated in World then it was in Rise?
(My very first weapon was HH, switched to SnS before I got to rise and switched to CB)
Haha, there's a lot going on for sure
Greatsword main here, only advice i can really give is just be patient and learn the monster, as strange as it is, knowledge is power with greatsword
Agreed! Useful for all weapons but especially so for GS
@@lightitupdan definitely, it's just the amount of new players I've seen charge in with a greatsword is concerning, can't blame em since they're new but they'll have a hard time if they main the weapon or while in co-op, it's always important to learn a monster, ain't gonna be able to first try it all the time and if you do it just gives false confidence
@@deathstalker6094 Yeah I hear you mate, all part of the learning curve of a hunter isn't it?
@@lightitupdan instead so
I was originally a longsword main but when I met the pickle, I couldn't make it work. I switched to lance and beat it first try. I have been a lance main ever since.
Love both the weapons! Variety is so nice when playing weapons, I really recommend players try different ones
Having used most weapons, sns unironically the most challenging (for me atleast) to master with backstepping and claw combo
Oh wow okay, fair enough! What would you say comes easiest to you?
@@lightitupdan easily GS and DB
Damn, GS? You must be really skilled at MHW!
@lightitupdan GS is really just the perfect weapon to use when you know a monsters patterns, since there isn't any complicated moves and very low risk
No weapon in any game I've ever played has a turn-around like Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter World/Iceborne does.
If you're new to this series and are bad at games, Hunting Horn will destroy you. The game will be infinitely harder than using a HBG. The *skill floor* is as high as other weapons' ceiling.
Yet... at the same time... if you're a grizzled veteran who has mastered the game, Hunting Horn will get you on top of tierlists and friend requests. The *skill ceiling* doesn't exist.
It's something else, for sure
20:55 "but with extra freedom" HAHAHAHAH😭😭
I couldn't not say it once I thought of it!! 😭😭
Kinda tired of the LS weep weapon at first it was ha ha I get it now it’s just annoying it’s more than the weep weapon + if it’s the weep weapon then y am I not a weep🤔
Good vid tbh just please don’t spam special sheath it does more damage if used as a counter
🆗
LS has a high skill ceiling, sure, but it also has the highest skill floor. Once you know the moveset, you only need minimum monster knowledge to be invincible.
You're not wrong!
SnS is way harder than ls to me at least in World and rise i get that SnS is a Beginner weapon in every Monster hunter before but useing the back step to avoid stuff and punishing With a perfect timed perfect rush is way harder than just press R2 and circle at any time and punishing With R2
My last comment, can we just talk about how everyone calls the LS the anime weapon. When, in reality, the insect glaive is just as anime 🤣
Oh mate, IG is absolutely just as if not MORE anime lol
Yesss we have still good mhw videos in 2024
Appreciate you!!
Hammer looks fun 🤩
SO much fun, you should try it! What do you usually play?
charge blade mains here, do not get discouraged by other people opinion about how complicated the weapon is to learn, it's not that hard to learn Cb in basic levels, what hard is to utilize all it's tech because oh boys this weapon does have a lot of flair to utilize, but even without the complicated shit CB still does a ton of damage and a really fun weapon to use, there's even a dedicated website for this weapon that somehow still get updated nowadays for build and toturial, my advice is just learn it's basic rotation for SAED and learn how to cancel SAED to AED it will save a lot of phial in your journey, and spamming AED is as important as spamming SAED, i deal a lot of stun and knockdown from AED alone, sword mode is your best friend (unless u use savage axe) it charge your phial and do critical damage also can't be bounced if ur sword charged and if the shield is charged it deal phial damage too so don't waste ur time on axe mode for too long.
What's the website?
It’s accessible to take out and have fun with! I say as much in the video 😄
Greatsword main here , if you wanna feel like your doing alot when in reality your just one hit away from carting , use the insect glaive , but if you wanna have fun with many lady's.
You use the greatsword.

you didn't display the true power of SnS Perfect Rush.
The entire combo, with perfectly timed inputs can do more damage than GreatSword's TCS.
I think I do a pretty great job of showcasing the weapon overall and what its capabilities are!
I’ve been a Lance main for 400 hours, just beat Iceborne base game (took my time) and thinking about having Great Sword or Hammer as a secondary. Let’s go 💥💥💥

bonus tip for insect glaive is that all 3 buffs also give you lvl 3 earplugs (at least in rise) on top of the 3 buffs
