her name is katrin davidsdottir (icelandic and it literally means david’s daughter. icelandic names are usually after their fathers and end with -dottir or -son) :)
10:35 the announcer says that she sets up the same every time and she does this for a very very good reason. That consistency has an affect on your mentality as an athlete. No matter how heavy the weight is, if you approach the barbell the same way every time and perform your lift the same technique every time your body will treat a light weight and a heavy weight the same. Rather than letting a number getting in your head. If your approach is the same that number can’t get in your head and your more focused on performing your lift correctly so in result you do way better.
Imagine your mom telling you about her weightlifting 20 years ago and you see a video of her lifting this weight. A super strong mom is far from usual... and pretty cool
it's not what it's portraited to be, I lifted for 20 years and I am in pain almost every day now, all of my lifting friends are in equally bad shape. I even had to have my ankle replaced, squatting/deadlifting/cleaning massive weights and having them on your skeleton puts a lot of force on you.
@@notendopodcast yep, sadly ppl almost never talk about it, probably bc of ego. Young look for attention lifting big weights thinking is not going to damage their body im the future, even w ''proper form''. And now women :/ Train to be healthy, not to be hercules.
@@bltnbros122 I agree 100% yeah it is not what it is made to be and isometric training has proven to be more taxing on the heart which ends with shorter life expectancy. This was an exciting event to watch. Thanks for checking it out, Wayne! Have you watched this video about Toomey's career? th-cam.com/video/5aS7f4Ihcr4/w-d-xo.html We think you'd like it!
Idk but honestly I love seeing CrossFit but somehow I inwardly cringe when they do weights because I’ve seen videos where the arm is twisted backwards because of the weights, I feel so terrible for them, but huge props to the men and women for doing these games.
@Elena Pittman Uh her body composition and strength. She's as yoked as guys that optimize their testosterone and DHT levels that are naturally 10-20 times higher in men than women. Do you ever see biological men that eat soy and phytoestrogens that hang out with women who end up with the exact physical composition of a woman? No, it normally takes significant exogenous hormones like estrogen, progesterone, etc. to be injected. This happens to be an elite female athlete that's been taken physically to the next level with the help of PEDs that mimick androgens. The only natural women that can pull this kind of weight are going to carry much more body fat and much less lean muscle mass.
5:59 hey I’m not part of the CrossFit community so I don’t know much. Why did the commentators say 2nd place? Did someone else already get 1st or was it cause she barely sat during her clean?
Yeah actual elite weightlifting standards for women around this weight would probs be 140-155 for a straight clean, 120kg max is probably about competitive for the female 55kg category
Notice how the girls with the biggest muscles weren’t in the finals. The girls in the finals are obviously still muscular asf, but not as much. It’s all about technique.
@@latanyaleamon5142 I feel like black women have more testosterone on average. It would be interesting to find out. On average they seem to be taller and stronger, especially when you compare them to Asians. I suspect they would perform much better in Crossfit.

Why did I think that they referred to the lady as David’s daughter but her name is Davidsotter😂
lol same and I kept hearing captain instead of Kathrin so I was like who's Captain David?
her name is katrin davidsdottir (icelandic and it literally means david’s daughter. icelandic names are usually after their fathers and end with -dottir or -son) :)
Yeah I think it comes down to how the name is pronounced and most Americans pronounce their t’s as d’s
Hi Miriam, here's why women in Iceland have Dottir as part of their last name th-cam.com/video/AozxlB4m3y0/w-d-xo.html
