You can, though. You can be lonely if you feel lonely. You can be surrounded by friends and feel lonely. You can be alone and not feel lonely. I get broken heart syndrome though, I reckon, from being alone and somewhat unrelatable.
I have CFS for a few years now and I'm always alone, in pain, and that's probably the new reason I'm always alone. I get lost in anger about it sometimes, as if i deserve a miracle of wanted company, but the more i consider that, the more i don't actually want company. I'm hoping to change that feeling in time though, despite rarely having opportunities for a social life. It's a luxury to have friends in my experience. People my age had to emigrate for work, but i fell ill and needed to be there for family, and even thay got ruined by politics. Oh well, try to laugh, and rhyme, all the time. My cat seems to like my company.. 😂 You're right about how people need to be detached from expectations, especially where phones are concerned! I feel like the world is couples only, sometimes, especially after a certain age. Being single is starting to seem fashionable, even. According to a recent poll of young men aged 18-30, 50% said that they didn't want to be in a relationship!!
