    I love His face when Samson tells him "Are you tryin' to push weight, or you tryin' to build muscle?" I love this question. That question is one of the most basic, coolest questions i've ever heard. Sam just looks dumbfounded when Samson asks him, like He'd never really thought about it. I think about this all the time because i'm more of a "moderate weight/high reps" type of guy. But i do believe in going for more weight, but we're here to "bodybuild," not "ego lift." IDK, im sure im in the minority, but it's just what i prefer...

      I lifted like Sam for my first like 7 years of lifting lol, great gains but I did get many injuries from pushing towards my max strength. Sam is such a super-responder to both training and PEDs that he basically gains muscle mass while floating between 8-12%BF 😮 we shall see if his genetic gifts include a muscularity ceiling on PEDs that makes him an IFBB Pro champ 🏆 and if his internal organs will survive the PEDs for however many years of abuse it ends up being...

My advice would be if you want to get on socials, do it and it will help you learn more and develop further. I should have started when I started uni 😂
      Most of my stuff is body building focused, sadly when the power lifting genetics were handed out I was in the back of the line😂 I’ve been training almost 10 years and growth is super slow but it’s the process that I love! does muscle build more in the eccentric phase ? Yes I agree some sort of eccentric control should be in place, in order to minimise risk of injury, however overly focus on the eccentric part (more than 1-2 seconds) does compromises acute performance. Longer eccentric duration decreases concentric velocity, a longer eccentric can compromise reps per set and volume, which could have ramifications for hypertrophy as well. Please tell me if im wrong, this is just what I have learned through my own research.

    • @ptrewick57
      @ptrewick57  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are spot on! It is just a little too complicated for the normal youtube video. There was no difference in hypertrophy between 3 second eccentrics and 9 second eccentrics, however number of overall possible reps are lower with 9 seconds. So yes there is no point going for more that 3 sec eccentrics, it’s wont get you more gains but it will waste a lot of time in the gym! People often overlook concentric velocity! The faster you move the weight, the more force required to do so and the more force required to stop the weight so yes if you can keep a higher concentric velocity, you will require more muscle recruitment and if you are no wing heavy weight fast you will be recruiting more fast twitch fibres which in turn (this part is debatable) will grow more muscle as they are larger than slow twitch fibres. So yes you are 100% correct! I’d say 2-3 seconds is the sweet spot. The problem with research is there are always some form of limitation to studies so yes so far we have seen eccentric has been better for hypertrophy but that can change with new research. Really good comment and you are well informed sir!

    300th subscriber ;) also strength precedes size, if you're getting stronger you're getting bigger + eccentrics don't build more muscle since there's a lot less mechanical tenson, concentrics are more important

      Thank you brother!! I appreciate the support 💪🏻💪🏻 I’m not too sure on that one though, I am always open to taking in more info and learning more. All the papers that I could find on concentric vs eccentric training yielded more hypertrophy in the eccentric groups. However we all know research on gym is highly flawed so sometimes 1 paper with a different answer but done under better conditions should be listened to. Any chance you know where to find one that supports increased tension in concentrics. As I say if done properly it could be a bit of a game changer 💪🏻

    • @ptrewick57
      @ptrewick57  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So a disc herniation is not the end of the world! It obviously depends on the degree of herniation and if it’s compressing the nerve. I’ve seen so many people rush into surgery and regret it. Most people who have herniated discs will have no symptoms! I know if you watch squat university he is very fixed in the Mackenzie approach which works brilliantly for some and doesn’t work at all for others. But it’s a good starting point. Bracing, spinal stability and so on. My advice would be get it assessed by a physio and go from there. I see at least 2-3 herniated discs a day (mri confirmed) who are not getting any symptoms from them.

      Have you tried the squat uni (Mackenzie) method? It can really help for some and bracing correctly?
      When it comes to any form of hands on therapy, the research is clear, anything done on a therapy table will last a max of 3 days. So it can help for a short term but we need to address the movements causing the irritation
