- How to work with the Goddess Nyx in deity work is the topic for todays video. Nyx, the goddess of the night, is known in mythology as one of the most mysterious deities ever. She was also one of the strongest deities, even feared by Zeus. Deities for beginners, can be fairly difficult, especially when trying to find information on a deity like Nyx who is so mysterious. But I make these videos short and sweet for a reason. There is much to learn for the beginner witch in this video such as, Nyx mythology, Nyx offerings, and even starting a Nyx altar. All of this information can help and kind of witch. There are beginner witch tips, witch tips in general, and so much more within these witchy tips videos. Witchcraft for beginners is never easy, but remember to ask questions, give me suggestions for videos you would like to see for the future, and so on. So I worship Nyx but I don’t have a altar for her or offerings because the people I live with won’t allow to do that is she still with me ?

I work with her very intuitively, whatever I feel, dream or see through divination like tarot and oracle cards, I use to build my relationship with her. Like offerings, prayers and spells. I had two dreams with Nyx and it was incredible!

How do you set up a relationship with her?
@@PrincessKLS there are many ways to start a realtionship with her but you can meditate on meeting her for a start and learning about her and her children. (from this video or other sources). In my case, I asked her to help me with my shadow work and protect me while I dive deep into my shadow to find my shadow and inner child. Having anything crystals relating to the night like moonstone or black obsidian is also good.

@ArpitaMondal-qj9nu Hello! So, there were many ways to contact her. One of the most important thing while asking her for help is willing to work on your inner self (shadow work, inner work involving your subconscious, etc.) You can also practice divination and astrology as it can be used for inner work as well. Giving her offerings is also useful as well. She requires full honesty as well as she seems scary to work with, but she is kind and motherly. Meditation is key for contacting any deties as well.

I've been honoring Nyx for 10 plus years and have found she doesn't like a lot of lunar references, as she is not a lunar Goddess and doesn't appreciate being lumped in with them.
Any “musky/earthy” scents like Patchouli, Blue Cypress, Peru Balsam, Vetiver, and Opium are good
Any “light airy/celestial” scents like Jasmine, Gardenia, Nag Champa are good as well, but because they're airy, and her 2 main elements are earth and air, not because of lunar associations.
Do you think she would enjoy a poem dedicated to her?
I'm just putting this out there because I'm a warcraft lover, I love the use of the night elf to represent Nyx. Yes, it's a video game, but when you actually get into the lore the built up around the game you would be very surprised who and what they adopted into the story. Much love!

Question here! So I have been wondering, the gods from different pantheons resemble each other. Ultimately, I believe they represent archetypes of energies that we can integrate further into our being. Still, they have different names, or even personalities as told by the stories of the religions to make it more relatable for us. We are one but we are separate, so it's a beautiful paradox. Nyx reminds me of Nut. So my question is, how different is it really to worship Nyx or Nut, or the Night/Stars, or any other correspondent deity/energy? Can you distinguish something in terms of results, is it just a matter of affinity to each pantheon? And would they matter to be treated as the same, or are there really rivalries between pantheons? What you're talking about is soft polytheism. Everyone has a different take, this is mine. All gods sit somewhere between a person and an idea. For example Nyx's core idea is that of the night, the night sky, and darkness. Surrounding that is a person, motherly, protective, strict. I think that core "idea" which I'll call their "spirit" is fluid, and can be shared between gods, but their personality, "soul", is unique. For example, Thanatos and Santa Muerte share a lot of their "spirit" but are definitely different people with different "souls". In a more simple way, Thanatos and Santa Muerte are different people but are both Death. That's just my belief though and I'm sure there are other valid ways of viewing it.
In the case of Nyx and Nut specifically I can't say. I don't know enough about Nut to guess
She's everywhere. U can feel when she's near. Yes she preferred black candles and dark liquids.

I looked this up because her spirit resonates with me, hence my podcast.. not only that my name means Goddess of Night so I wanted to look who this might be.. not only that I was born under Venus.. love owls, dark chocolate wine, cannabis Jasmine is my daughters name.. and yes there are crows by me.. I have sage as well. Wow.. there are just too many coincidences.

I think it needs to be made clear that Zeus feared Aphrodite for different reasons and he still had authority with her by marrying her to Hephaestus. However he feared nyx purely because of her immense power as a Primordial Deity.

I love nyx deeply since I was 11 and didn't knew she was real. She appeared to me in dreams many times and I'm not sure if she's my patroness but even if she isn't, she has been there for me when i asked her in the darkest nights when I had terrible dreams. She has been extremely gentle and caring although I'm not able to make an alter or give physical offers. I'm really young so I hope when I'm prepared enough, to work with her and she will have everything that she deserves 🖤

Black is not the only color. She also likes violet, red, and silver. Sometimes emerald green, although that's more Gaia.
Black is actually a good candle color for all primordials, not just Nyx. Basically all gods that existed before Aether, since without light we cannot have color.
I feel like a very good way to connect with her is just sitting outside at night, stargazing learning astrology and learning about the constellations. I also have a feeling (tho I'm not 100% sure) that she appreciates a lot if you spend some time with her, I do that a lot, I sit outside at night, sometimes light a candle for her or an incense and I just spend the time with her, reflecting and I tend to talk a lot with her, I express my thoughts and sometimes I reflect on my craft with her and I also feel this sense of calmness. Since I've know about her and started researching about her, I've been loosing my fear of the night and the darkness constantly ( I used to be VERY paranoid at night, to the point where any noise would freak me out, now I'm learning to enjoy the calmness and peace of the night). This is just my experience tho
Yes, night is of peace and calm. It is more than just the peace of sleep, death, and absence; without night and darkness, we actually cannot have life as things will burn alight forever in daylight. It's also the true shape of this vast universe, that which the sun actually veils every day. That is why Hemera is her child, not the other way around. It's humankind's and all mortals' folly to see Nyx as frightening and to make it so. We will retain some of that anxiety as long as we live, but we can mitigate it greatly by understanding night and darkness and their grand places in the universal design. Blessed be the primordials and Hekate the First Witch who continues to teach us their wisdom and knowledge.
For herbs I highly recommend, Cannabis, Opium and Mugwort, and also owl feathers if one is blessed enough to receive one as gift from the owls on the altar is amazing! Clear quartz with Tourmaline through it is a good crystal to work with for more advance witches, Crystal balls are also really cool, kinda like cosmic eggs the vibes sometimes.
Onyx also works well, because, well, it has her name in it. It's also a type of quartz.

I find her to be very forgiving as sometimes I forget to refresh offerings or might be slow to clean my altar . Maybe it’s because I’ve been working with her for 10 years but It’s so rewarding to work with her. It’s the subtle yet jarring intuitive messages she leaves you and how comfortable You start to feel towards working on the darker parts of yourself.
For liquid offerings I find that she really enjoys moon water or better yet, rain water particularly from a rough storm blessed under the moon. I also managed to get a pair of English jackdaw wings to place behind her candle and she loves it. For herbs I often use mugwort, lavender, patchouli, forget me knots and of course jasmine. Copal incense/resins also are a good bet.
Hello there! Since I've always been drawn to the night and all of its imagery and symbolism, I'm going to try to get in touch with Nyx. I was wondering if you had any advice on what I should watch out for in case she decides to reply.

I found out Nyx was reaching out to me for a while but hadn't realized it until a few months ago. After doing some research about her I realized I actually had a bunch of stuff already that had to do with Nyx without knowing it so that was one sign. I also saw that feathers were a sign for her and the next day after reading that I found a giant Turkey feather in my yard in a spot I dont usually look but I happened to that day. And since she has sent me feathers multiple times so thats one way I know shes reaching out. Also a long time ago I was told to get Labradorite and something to do with owls but I didnt think much about it at the time until I learned about nyx and since then she has been super adamant about me getting Labradorite lol (I still haven't got some). But for offerings I have a bunch of black crystals, sage, and she seems to like lavender and dark chocolate. (Lavender makes sense since shes the goddess of sleep, also amethyst). Im pretty lazy about attending my alter and i think she got a little upset after a little while without paying attention to it because the bracelet I had on her alter suddenly broke out of nowhere lol! Overall I get good vibes from her and ive seen more signs from her than anyone!
Also If you cant find something owl related she likes other nocturnal animals as well for example I have a frog and have some frog items that I put on her alter!

I thought I was drawn to Hekate since I started my craft a year ago, but now I am curious if it wasn't actually Nyx since more of the crystals, characteristics from her story, and especially the owls are tied to her rather than Hekate. I've been researching and working on my chakras so that I can finally find out who has been guiding me and been beside me for the past year.

Hekate is the First Witch. If she's not busy guiding the dead, downtrod, and misfortuned.. she teaches witches and magicians of Nyx and her wisdom. Her magic powers come directly from the primordials; Zeus who fears Nyx also resepcts Hekate for that same reason and honors her domains that cover earth, sky, and sea. Depending on the myths, she's more or less also the direct descendent of Nyx, but regardless I see her as the first disciple of Nyx and Erebus (along with the other primordials).
That may be why.

In terms of offerings for her, here is what I've learnt from trial and error:
-As you said, she is very powerful, and she does demand respect, that is the rule that. she will not budge on. If you do forget to leave her an offering, as long as you make up for it, she will let it slide, but she won't forget!
For herbs and spices:
Cinnamon and cardamom are the only two I have to add for her, I consider them to be darker herbs, and although not common for her, I found that she likes them
Crystals,
the only other thing I can add here is Bloodstone. It kept coming up while I was considering buying some rings to wear daily (amber for Apollo, Labradorite for Nyx, and Onyx for Nyx and Hekate). when I was looking at the stone, it reminded me of Nyx spreading Erebus' darkness to create night across the sky, I could tel she liked it, but prefered the Onyx and Labradorite.
QUESTIONS:
In terms of offerings, what do you do with the ones you've swapped out (old ones)? Does that change depending on the deity?
I communicate with Nyx by talking out loud and through tarot, although the former is more of a one-sided conversation, I do it with all my deities because I find it makes them feel like I'm more aware of them, and trying to honour them by including them in my day to day life. Is there any form of communication that works best for Nyx? A specific meditation, or something?
Lastly, I always get worried about this because I know that she can very quiet, not shy, but watching from the side, is this the same for others? She's not quite as vibrant and hyper as Apollo, whereas for me, Hekate is more gentle, but also more active still just as vibrant and there around you, Nyx seems to like taking the back seat, and I was wondering if this was normal, or if there was something I can do to make her feel more welcome if she doesn't?

I'm not sure who posted it but it's a very calm sounding woman, who leads you down the staircase to a garden where you meet with your spirit guides (you can focus on meeting with Nyx). Hopefully you find it!

Is she picky on how she likes her altar to be decorated? I recently discovered that she wants to work with me and I’m trying to do the best I can. The only thing I have right now is cinnamon and I don’t have any fancy cauldrons or bowls. If I leave a small offering for her and promised to create an altar specifically for her, do you think that would be fine with her? I’m sure that somethings she can tell me but I’m still trying to learn how to communicate now to contact her.

I personally has ravens and owls appear daily to me when She first showed interest. Also an absolute inability to stay asleep during the dead of night (2-4AM). I found more comfort during the nighttime and a general unrest during the day.
I found it to be much more obvious for me, ironically she's a very quiet and reserved Deity, but when she wanted to make her entrance I was shuffling Hekates deck just for any general messages and the high priestess card fell out which I immediately tied to her and then later confirmed it.

For me it was stars, finding comfort in the dead of night, as well as her coming to me in a dream. Those were all signs for me that she wanted to work with me. And I've never been more grateful.
For herb offerings, I need to do more research but the first thing that comes to mind are sleep inducing herbs like chamomile or valerian (safely of course). Wonder if those would work :)

Since I was kid I was never afraid of the Night. Spending time alone at night on Roof was the most soothing and relaxing feeling ever. Stress, anxiety everything used to draw down. Later, I started practicing craft. In Rigved, Indian goddess for Night i.e. Ratridevi was mentioned with her Suktam. I started practicing it..
And then, did some research on NYX. It's really hard to find out Information about NYX rituals. So, NYX or Ratridevi were same personifications of the night.
And the deities I can relate the most.

Jasmine flower (cause it blooms at night),
Crow feather,
Milk, candle, moon water, etc
Yes. Interestingly, Rahu is the god of Darkness and Ratri's consort; the exact same way Erebus is to Nyx.
To be honest, I align more with and serve Erebus. I actually had the.. fortune.. of invoking Rahu once.
I can't say I understand him with the mind, as it is his very nature to deny any mental study. But I was able to peer into his shapeshifting heart.
The story, wisdom, and knowledge of the eternal loving matrimony of Night and Darkness will reign forever in the hearts of mankind, despite many attempts to conceal/deny it.
It is our roles to pass the tradition down further.
I just started working with nyx today and Zeus walked into my bedroom (FYI I don't work with Zeus , but he's reached out to me) , nyx was in there , and the second Zeus Saw her he left immediately. It was hilarious 😂

The gods also specifically left Hecate alone after they defeated the Titans. She was the only Titan that was left alone. They would work with her whenever needed and other than that, she was free to do whatever she wanted. Working with these ladies are very rewarding, but beware of your intentions when approaching these dark goddesses.
You can also draw a picture of your view of what Nyx looks like in stead of a statue and she will love that as well. I have been working with her for a while now and she loves the pictures that I draw of her. And she isn't to picky on herbs either anything that you think she will like she will love it because it comes from the heart. And incense offerings she likes dragons blood to.
Last year, I pushed Nyx away because I was going through a tough time. I thought that she stepped back from my practice, but little did I know, she was around majority of the time. Just under a week ago she finally revealed that by giving me some obvious signs. I was also seeing owls in my dreams for about 2 months. I thought it was either Lilith or Athena but they didn’t resonate, however, when I got into back into my studies with Nyx it all clicked. I had no clue she was still in background. It was until I started seeing her name again on things like car plates as I went about my day. I knew it was her then. I gave her a space again and learning from her more personally this time while taking it slow because my trust issues can be bad
I did not realize I had Nyx until recently but she seems to really like the Black Cherry Merlot candle from bath and body works and in my opinion does smell really nice I’m fairly new to working with deities so this video was very helpful♥️ I’m in a town where we don’t have many places to buy certain things but I do plan on trying my best to tend to her and my other Gods:)
I was going to mention Black Cherry too, but as part of the herbal question. She came to me wanting Black Cherry incense (which I didn’t know even existed), and also in plant form (herbal) in teas (esp to help in healing).

The reason that mother and her ways are not often spoken of is mainly the fact that she guides her faithful through silent instruction in the ways of life. Therefore...instructing each other on how to communicate with her is most likely a waste of time. That said, nice video. Thank you for your caring interpretation, as information can be helpful.

I just want to suggest specifically night blooming jasmine, I used to have a bush of it and it smells GODLY so if you can get your hands on it I think it would fit perfectly

Primrose flowers are ones that I've found are good. They a night blooming flowers. It's funny, I had never seen them growing around my house before, then I had a dream about nyx one night, and decided to make her an altar, literally like 2 days later I saw the primrose flowers growing across the street from my house, I googled them and found out what they were. But yeah, those and any other flower that blooms at night
wine....give offerings of a dark wine not much is known about her because she was only given tribute by those avoiding the eyes of authorities there was also sleep and death cults in the Spartan's but they payed more homage to her first sons sleep and death I've worked with nyx/nox since the age of 23 I'm 35 now other than that you have made a great video here

Herps to use for Nick's would be rosebuds lavender dragon's blood she loves also when you mix different dry herbs together candle wise she loves purple candles for wisdom as well and to carve an owl into the perfect purple candle. An owl feathers if you can find them they're very hard to find very rare

Always been catholic so didn’t think to be drawn to anything other then my god but still drawn to her thank you for information and will definitely meditate on this.

I just started working with Nyx. I left a black Kyaphite and a dark purple candle (moon & starry night)) and opium incense. I was winging it because I couldn’t find much info. Hope she liked it
opium is made from her fave flower. She used to be portraid crowned in poppies 😊
Unfortunately you don’t find much on her but connecting with her is quite simple. Nyx is the personification of the night and a child of chaos who is very kind but also fearsome. To call to her just say her name unto the night

Freya can be put in the book of deities to do! I have a few in line as I am going in order from which people suggested, but she isnt too far since I am trying to do at least 2 deity videos a week! So I can work it in very soon!

I’m not sure if I’ve worked with Nyx, but I have worked with Chaos. I was instructed to work with her in a dream I had on New Years…maybe2016/17? In the dream I was told she was the first Goddess. Her form was shown to me as a black hole/ vortex in what looked like outer space. In one scene, I was at the crossroads, golden wheat I think where in the fields. Her animals are rats and other rodents that enter and exit dark holes and carry information to her.
I’ll need to go through my dream journals to find out what I don’t remember.
In a dream where I got to talk with her, I remember her having long black straight hair. She gave me some of her time, but was very busy.
For her statue, I picked out a Maleficent statue holding a dragon mask to her face. Before working w/ Chaos, I had been wanting to work with dragons. In one dream I was taken to a sleeping black baby dragon the size of a Great Dane that looked a lot like the maleficent dragon. I was told that he was in a deep sleep and before I could work directly w/ my dragons, I had to wake him up first. In Dragons written by Conway, it talks about Chaos dragons, which happened to be the same species of dragon as the baby I needed to wake up. Since they work directly with Chaos and the one I had looked like the Maleficent dragon, I chose the Mal. statue for her and I picked out a Mal. Dragon statue for him. I have them placed next to each other.
True about Aphrodite as well because she was birthed when Chronos cut the genitalia of Uranus and threw it in the sea and she came to be from the sea foams. Wait but the owl also represents Athena though.
I would think stars would be a good aspect of alter aesthetics, and I would personally do maybe cloths or art of nebula/galaxy images. Let me know if I'm wrong. Since the moon is part of her purview, would it be ok to incorporate some moon symbology or moonstone? Or is that possibly treading too much into the moon goddesses areas? Zeus was afraid of Aphrodite because so many of the Gods were in love with her. He feared a great battle would erupt over her. That’s different to being afraid of Aphrodite herself.

Nyx was supposedly a primordial god eg existed alongside Gaia and others. Get her to tel us how the world was made , or what the other gods look like …
i have a question. yesterday i felt her presence with me and that she is protecting me. so i am trying to learn more things about her. my question is this, i truly appreciate her and thinking about her every day and every night and i know she knows this. is it really necessary to do offerings, cause this feels like forced and unsincere.
I'm far from an expert, but I feel that deities tend to understand the intent of mortals. They understand if you're closeted, financially not able to give offerings, or it doesn't feel right to you as the worshiper. I'd ask Nyx whether or not she would like any/if it's okay if you don't because you feel it's inscinsere. From other comments I've read, she's maternal but demands respect, so definitely double-check with her
But if you're showing appreciation to her through acts and spells, rituals honoring the night, and what she stands for, then I feel like that could substitute for physical offerings. I'm new to deity work, also closeted, but all the deities my boyfriend works with and the one that I work with are understanding of circumstances and not receiving offerings every day

I new river learning about alters and how to use them. I love learning Greek mythology so it’s been helpful. My curiosity began when I got my Maine Coon cat. I named her Hera. She was so motherly with me. She passed this year which was very difficult because I had my own health issues. I’m getting another Maine Coon next month. Sticking to my mythological ways, I came upon Nyx. Learning about Nyx for one my car will love her name but for me I’ve been healing in times of darkness.

For a liquid offering she likes blood because she has vampire followers too so if you can't find anything else you can use blood.
She is deeply a mortherly goddess. In times of need i pray extra to her. When I found a book series (House of Night novel)that had her as a goddess in it I have been reading it. I stay up most nights and do something and I get a lot done. I am happy to say that Nyx is a goddess and the Goddess I worship.

What are some good Sigils for working with Nyx? Also, I have been collecting some stuff for an alter and I have glitter silver candles and black candles. I read that silver is for the moon and the stars and shows respect to her. Is that true?
Nyx is often portrayed with a human half and a decayed or skeleton half. So mine has a white candle and a black candle. You can also place rotted fruit, moldy bread, dead flowers, or bones. I currently have a crow skull and some dead roses.

I did a reading this last week and asked to for my deity to be revealed for more accurate guidance. Last night I was looking up oracle decks to buy. It took 45 minutes of looking at cards and I found 3 I wanted. Today I looked over my order to see the date and realized I ordered ones dedicated on NYX. I just got the good chills writing this. Well after more research I realized the deck was also based on the books I was obsessed with as a child. I also bought an owl water bottle last week and have both an owl and wolf stuffed animal I keep in my car cuz I have always felt like they protect me and my personal spirit animals. I’m a complete night person shoot I even made a TT weeks ago stating how I am a night person and it’s in mu DNA to not be a morning person. So the more I learn the more the pieces are connecting. I still have to talk with her to make sure she’s okay with it too but I can’t explain it this just feels right.

I work with both. Morrigan I work with for shadow work and certain kinds of healing. I feel I have the strongest bond with her. Nyx I discovered through an interesting event. I used to be an spirit worker who did a lot of exorcisms with a team of healers and readers. There was a period where we were being stalked by demons and they were a different kind of demon that I had never dealt with before. Different dimension. So I was driving to the leader's house because she was being plagued by demons, not exactly sure what I was going to do, when I saw a license plate with the letters NYX on it. I wondered if Nyx wanted to help. I reached out while driving and felt her dark presence. She immediately instructed me what to do about these new demons, how she would handle them. I had to invoke her, channel her energy and she then would freeze them and push them out. That's what I did in the car and at my leader's house. The demon problem was years ago but I still work with her often, even traveling to her plane. She's a protector but can also heal and almost anything. She had titan energy so she had endless power. Her realm is very dark and contains some nightmarish creatures and part of the self mastery needed is overcoming all fear. Nyx actually encourages love and an open heart
