  • How to work with Dionysus in deity work is the basis for todays deities video. Deities for beginners have always been an interesting place in witchcraft for beginner witches. But I must say the god Dionysus is honestly one of the most interesting to work with. Greek god Dionysus has an interesting story in greek mythology. He is also one of the most interesting gods in general due to his dual personality reflected by what he is the god of, wine. Deity work for beginners can be scary but I assure you it is one of the most amazing things you can do within your witchcraft. Witchcraft tips for beginner witches will be implemented in todays video along with Dionysus offerings, Dionysus mythology, and even how to make a Dionysus altar for him. He is an amazing deity, we even go over a brand new thing ive implemented in these videos which will be signs of Dionysus, which will give you an idea of when he is calling out to you! I really hope these witchy tips and how to work with deities tips are good for all of you. Blessed be to all who see!

    He caught me when I was high and listening to music. I was dancing and stuff but suddenly I felt like he was there around me. I felt warm, safe and the smell of musk from the incense I was burning intensified. It was… so nice! He feels like he’s a part of me.

    O' God of the Vine,
    O' Prince of Wine.
    Without thee,
    The word would be so gray;
    Without thee,
    The world would be so bleak.
    So come, let us play;
    So come, let us seek.
    In Your name Lord Dionysus,
    So mote it be!
    Pleasure, for Pleasure's sake!
    (Edit and PS)
    As someone who has worked with Lord Dionysus for almost three months, you must always remember that He is a God of sensuality.
    Whatever *you* find nice, He most likely will.
    As a God of foreigners, He is always open to novel offerings.
    Don't shut Him out from the glory of our modern life.

    When I was younger I did a somewhat ritual which evolved me blasting music aloud and me dancing in the rain for hours while a big white candle with flowers burned. When 3 hours passed i decided i should go inside as im cold and wet so i tried to blow the candle out. It wouldnt blow out so i knew someone was there. I apologised and thanked them for watching over me but that i needed to go get dry. Again the candle didnt blow out. Not even the howling wind from the storm outside helped so I showed my sister telling her how the candle wouldnt blow out and it blew out on its own when she was there 😂
    Mind you i was trying to do that for half and hour and the flames were crazy high. It was my first time experiencing anything like that. Im pretty sure its Dionysus so im planning to try and reconnect to both apologize and thank him. I got a purple area quartz which is SUPER PRETTY, i put some gold rings on it as it looks and feels right and i got him some honey comb homemade candy which i thought he'll like.

    I'm a young practicer of the craft (like, still living with my parents young). I recently got into Dionysus. I've been wanting to follow him for a while, but never had the confidence to break from my parents placed path. This has been the beginning of my research.

    1:38 I agree and thank you. It drives me insane to how many Christians Do this. As a Christian myself *I’m looking into Paganism and Witchcraft* I don’t like How Christians Do this especially if they are the ones who start the Fight first because this is what gives the Christian Community bad rep and Poor Innocent Christians are Victims of hate. The More You hate the More hate you get back. And I get that Christians don’t like Witchcraft or Whatever because of their Beliefs. It doesn’t make Sense to go on someone’s Page and Obliterate it right there. Forgive the Christian Community 😞 As a Christian I will defend You guys because what they are re doing is only making things Worse. Thank you. Blessed be ❤️

    Thank you thank you thank you! My husband and I have been worshiping Dionysus since the Spring and we both noticed he had been calling us for a long time--probably ever since we met-- because most of the songs we perform (18th century baroque opera) relates in some way to him. We've set up a beautiful altar to him filled with antiques relating to him along with amethysts and pinecones and on it is a bust of him that's also a planter with ivy in it.
    We call him The D and he finds it hilarious

    Just a tip from a priest of Dionysus, organising in a cult devoted to him is extremely useful. A priest or a few priests can handle the direct work with the god, leaving the rest of the cult to benefit from his favour and his blessing. Also makes parties easier to arrange.

    I started working with Dionysus some two years ago? It came out of nowhere and I ended up making a small altar out of an Altoids tin that he seemed to really take to. There sits an enamel pin I got of him with little bottles of amethyst and bones followed by acorns and pinecones to represent his thyrsus. Finally bismuth due to its wild hues and the association between its rainbow colors and his sexuality. I also really like to burn dried grape leaves and such for him along with lavender incense. He's pretty awesome to work with and giver offerings to ^^

    I'm recently getting into paganism and had a deity reading. One of the deities that was suspected as one that was reaching out to me or wanting to work with me was Dionysus. So I started doing some research. One night I had a dream where the name Dionysus was just repeated several times. Then the next night I asked him for confirmation if it was him reaching out to me through my dream the night before. He didn't explicitly appear, and I didn't hear his name, but I did dream about being part of the theater, and that felt like a pretty clear sign since he also enjoys the theater.
    The grape smell thing gave me a chuckle, just because my house has a grapevine that my in laws planted before I met my husband, and every year when they're close to being ripe, you can smell them all around the house outside, and if there's a window open, you can smell them in the house. We make grape juice every year. Now maybe I can start dedicating some of that to Dionysus.

    Dionysus has appeared to me in two forms: that of a portly man who spoke of perceptions, normality, and insanity (in my dreams, followed by an unordered helping of grapes woth my brealfast the next morning) and as a bull headed man in purple robes at a crossroads (in a particularly deep trance whilst in a circle)

    If you take frankincense resin, dissolve it in wine and drain the resin bearing wine from the dregs left behind, you can take that mix and add some honey, then bind cinnamon powder into a paste, to make stick or cone incense.

I have never researched the Greek pantheon before nor have I heard the gods name before, this was literally 20 minutes ago. Of course!
      Grape juice (especially sparkling), olive oil, water, honey, tea, coffee (in my experience, Lord Dionysus prefers tea), and many other non-alcoholic beverages.
      In mythology, Demeter is considered the Goddess of "dry" foods, whilst Lord Dionysus is the "wet" foods.
      Anything liquid is considered good offerings, especially if it's from fruit.
      As He is the God of fruit and orchards.

      And He totally accepted it.

    He always appears in my dreams as big cats (Lions,Tigers, Leopards and Jaguars, both black and spotted.) first time it was a black leopard or jaguar curled up on someone's kitchen counter like a house cat and we stared into each others eyes, he had eyes like a deep jade, or werecats or there's a Beauty and the Beast theme going on in them in various adaptations in one dream he was in the form of Ron Perlman's Vincent from the old TV show, that was a good one we snuggled and I twirled his mane, in another dream he was in the form of the werecat from MJ's Thriller chasing me round a park (whether he wanted to kill me or was just playing I don't know) and in another one it was a mashup of Disney's BATB and Joe Dante's The Howling I was in a bookstore doing a Belle on the sliding ladder, then I fell underneath the ladder the slid down to the floor when I stepped out he was there turning from man to beast.

    • @colt9836
      @colt9836 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, not all!
      In Hellenism, the Gods demand one thing and one thing only:
      Your best.
      And if your best is giving Lord Dionysus offerings once a week, once every two weeks, whatever;
      Then that is enough.
      Especially when it comes to Lord Dionysus.

  • @austinferguson4000

    Strange note about offering wine to our intoxicated lord. If you offer a bottle of wine, and leave it on your altar for a significant length of time, please, please, I cannot say enough times PLEASE drink it. I know that for most deities, offerings should not be consumed, but, as someone whos been following Dionysus for 20 years, wine offered to Dionysus that is not drunk is wasted. Pick a night, a special night, and drink it. Feel it. Let it flow through your mouth and your veins and your bladder. Feel it tickle your brain. And if a bottle in a night is too much for you, by all means, invite a friend or two and pour them a glass. His blessings are to be shared. But whatever you do, if you offer Him a bottle, do /not/ throw it out.

      Merry meet, my friend.
      Firstly, no, not at all. Lord Dionysus approached me in a dream but many others of my coven have said that they approached Him. Just remember the concept of miasma whenever you speak to a Hellenistic deity. If you want to give offerings, rinse your hands (I use salt water because that's what the Ancient Greeks did but you don't have to). If you want to call upon Lord Dionysus and invite Him into your space:
      1) take a shower and think about what He means to you, this will cleanse yourself of both physical and mental miasma;
      2) cleanse the altar, whether with incense, sound, salt, whatever you have.
      Think of this as cleaning your house when you have a friend coming over.
      Remember, miasma isn't "sin," it's morally neutral; how would you feel if someone tracked mud into your home? It's rude, not wrong.
      Secondly, no, Lord Dionysus does not care about age, gender identity, sexuality, race, color, creed. In fact, He is the youngest of the Gods so He may resonate with you because of that. As long as YOU feel comfortable working with Him, go for it.
      But, remember, whatever you can do for Him, that is enough.
      My apologies for the long post but I hoped this helped.
      Please do not hesitate to ask me questions.
      Bacchic Blessings, my dear.

      2.i cant really get or make an altar because im pretty closeted on my beliefs so i thought i could just get a jar and put things that i heard dionysus liked such as amethyst grapes and anything associated with wine or the color purple then put purple and red candle wax on top so would i be able to do that? and if not are theyre any other options?

    • @colt9836
      @colt9836 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KaythatsGorey0666 Firstly, you could have a single plastic grape and that could be your altar to Lord Dionysus. Hellenism is orthodox, meaning the correct belief is more important; however you express such ideology is more-or-less irrelevant. As long as you adhere to correct cleaning of miasma.
      Secondly, misama is just spiritual "dirt" that we, as mortal beings, "collect." The Gods don't have a body (or at least one we can comprehend), but they do have a mind. Cleaning and cleansing yourself and your altar brings us closer to the Gods.
      The most crucial miasmic object is death, more specifically: mortality.
      The Gods are immortal and eternal; They do not fathom death. Thus it's rude to remind Them of it.
      Unless you are surrounded by death, you killed someone (not in self-defense, because Ares would extend his protection to you), or your altar is in unhygienic place (bathroom, closest, etc,..), miasma isn't something that you should stress about.
      As long as you bath regularly and wear clean clothes, you're completely fine.
      You said your closeted with your beliefs right? If you have an altar in an actual closet, I would physically clean and spiritually cleanse that area maybe every week? Two weeks? Whenever you can.
      Because that place collects dust and grime, which the former has dead skin cells, dead microorganisms, etc,...
      You can use whatever means you have.
      If can't burn anything, you can use a dish of salt (salt is especially sacred in Greek mythology) and place it there to act as a passive cleanser.
      Replace it every new moon or whenever.
      But I would dust regularly.
      Don't overthink it; the Gods will understand.
      They demand one thing and one thing only:
      Your best.

      I'm a baby witch so keep in mind I'm not the best example. I had a recent dream not that long ago where a majority of my signs pointed to him, but some of the signs seemed to possibly indicate another deity, but I too was unsure. I had to look at my signs in my dreams, things I was seeing and see if it matched before I went got advice to seek out an expert who can help confirm the deity calling to me. Today I got my reading and 100% confirmed my intuition, something actually Dionysus wants me to work on ironically. I'd say trust in your intuition and if you have to seek out a professional who can help you confirm. It maybe one deity, maybe multiple. Again, I'm a baby witch literally learning so...take my info with a grain of salt if unsure. : P

    • @colt9836
      @colt9836 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely!
      Dionysus is the considered the God of "wet" foods, whereas Demeter is the "dry" foods.
      Grape juice (sparkling or not), water, milk, honey, tea, coffee, and more are all considered excellent offerings.
      But remember to give it as a libation when you feel it is necessary. In traditional Hellenic belief, the drink is poured onto the ground; if you can't, a clean sink will suffice.
      Speak of the God's name as you do so that They know you are offering it to Them.

    For me this works different. God's or better Archetypes come and go regarding importance. The eradication of many archetypes due Christianity sure was a bad thing, archetypes also evolve and change. Every stage of civ produces it's own structures and specific archetypes but also specific imbalances in over prioritizing or under prioritizing specific archetypes. The limit is just the imagination ability of humanity.
