  • In this video, I continue with the cleaning process of my AR-15. Now tht the barrel is clean, I will be moving on to cleaning the rest of the parts of the rifle.

I enjoy cleaning my rifles, but that seems like overkill unless you had thousands of rounds through it without a cleaning. Once you fire ten rounds, it’s filthy again. Just the nature of the beast.

This particular rifle had not been cleaned for a few years with a few thousand rounds through it. With having to do a deep clean, which was needed at the time, I figured it was a good opportunity to get it back to like new.

It is not as hard as you think. Just make sure that you have the right tools for the job.

Why do you have a spring on your bolt?

The upper is from a Huldra Mark IV. It was a premiere line that was offered by Fleet Farm years back. This is just part of the design for their piston system. They specifically designed interacting components for 1/2" of travel and then added this spring to the bolt to assist with keeping the bolt in a centered travel back and forth. In return, they claim that this is to produce an end result of making the rifle more accurate and reducing wear and it is a much cleaner system than your standard AR-15.
Does it do what it claims? I don't know. BUT, it is an accurate rifle for sure. I am happy with it and it has proven to be one of the most reliable AR-15's that I have
