you know, now that it's been a little while, I still find myself flabbergasted that this game is real. it'd be one thing if the game had like, the one spooky area but was otherwise typical brand tie-in game fare. but no. it keeps the vibe going THE ENTIRE GAME. every area, every interaction, laced with funky camera angles, foreboding music, and a general air of unease. it's not "scary", like, Piglet's Big Game isn't some horror masterpiece or anything, but I'm just floored by how uniquely uncomfortable the vibe is here, from the ambience to the way some rooms are framed to how the Heffalumps and Woozles sound. no wonder Piglet is constantly tweaking the hell out, his friends live in The 100-Acre Wood while he's stuck in Silent Hill
Fr i thought it was like, one single spooky area and/or people editing clips but it fr is like that the whole game. Is there any background music that's being disabled?

I've been telling people for years that this game freaked me the hecc out as a child and they all thought I was nuts. Seeing this childhood game resurface and be recognized for its horror elements is both hilarious and vindicating for me xD
What's funny to me is that before it got popular, I 100% it to prove my younger self that we did beat it. Sadly the reward was nothing but it is funny how it sprung in popularity right after I beat it
After learning some more about this game, no, it was completely intentional. Someone contacted one of the project leads, and they confirmed that they wanted to do a horror game for kids.
I really thought this was some fan-made game made recently to disguise as one of those “an old game I found.” The fact it’s an actual licensed kids game made in 2003 makes this all the more intriguing.
You know what cements this even further is the fact that the ACTUAL INSPIRED GAMEPLAY comes from both Luigi’s Mansion (GCN) and Resident Evil, not even kidding.
For real it reminds me of early Capcom horror. The running mechanic when Piglet gets scared reminds me of Clock Tower 3 where Alyssa would scramble when at low health.
Yeees almost nobody mentioning that, also the health system is similar to that game, the more scared piglet is the lower his health, really this game took a little of every major survival horror of it's time, and I cannot believe I'm actually saying this XD hahahaha
"Mmm honey? Did something happen to you? After we got separated in that long tree? Are you confusing me with someone else? Haha you were always so forgetful, remember that time in the forest?" "Winnie?" "You said you took everything, but you forgot that jar of honey we made. I wonder if it's still there" "How do you know about that? Aren't you Winnie?" "I'm not your Winnie the Pooh" "So you are Winnie" "I am. If you want me to be"

@@rosesapling72 All her monsters are annoying stuffed animal creatures she has to chase away by insulting them. "Get lost, fart face!" *Monster cries and runs away*
This game hits the concept of ambiance right on the head! Going from cheerful to downright unnerving, and when some games give you a sense of comfort after defeating enemies, this game goes straight to feeling weird again. All of the strange angles and dim lighting makes for a great visual display!
Looks like the developers really took a lot of inspiration from SH2, and this one came out a year after SH2. I mean how did they manage to turn this kid friendly PS2 game, and turned into this surrealistic nightmare.
I'm a bit taken aback by the reception this game is suddenly receiving. People are acting like it's unheard of that Winnie the Pooh could be a touch eerie or full of ambience. If you grew up with "New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh," there were several episodes that got a touch dark and atmospheric... and they were AWESOME! "Cleanliness Is Next To Impossible" is an absolute standout episode. Creative, fun, full of atmosphere and just a touch unsettling.
0:17 haven’t thought much about it before, but I love the loading screen change from a happy walking piglet to a nervous running one. Not only that but it changes to a black background, like if Piglet’s running from something and we can’t see, but it’s coming our way FAST
I'm having a hard time wrapping it around my head that this is an actual Winnie the Pooh game, this feels more like an odd tech demo like Peach's Castle that we weren't suppose to see.
Everyone says it's scary, but for some reason I feel very comfortable and calm in this surreal world. I didn't play this as a child and I don't have the opportunity to play the game now. And I really regret it.
Seeing content on this game now makes me so happy, I GREW UP on this game, and it's genuinely been one of my sleeper favs for just set design and how much it SCARED me as a kid. Almost every dream had a point where I felt just as scared as piglet and yet I had so much fun just running around the beautiful sets I finally sat down and beat the game a few years ago after being too scared to beat it as a kid Hope everyone has as much enjoyment out of this silly little tie in as I did
It never entered my wildest imagination that Disney would allow their sacrosanct preschool age Winnie the Pooh property to be treated with such genuine intensity. I know Alex Hirsch managed to pull some insane stunts with Gravity Falls, but that was preteen to teen age show. This is a far more strict playing field. It's as though the devil had, however briefly, touched Arcadia itself.
Watching this video very much reminds me of Winnie the Pooh's Rumbly Tumbly adventure. A surprising amound of carryover, honestly. Yes, that game scared me a little bit
I thought it was like, one single spooky area and/or people editing clips but it fr is like that the whole game. Reminds me of Luigi's Mansion for the GC. Is there any background music that's being disabled?
Piglet has refused to fight against his fears for too long. They have come for him now. He has no choice but to progress through the fears and nightmares of his friends to save them from the horrors created by their minds, while at the same time overcoming his owns in a journey of self-discovery that will force Piglet to face what he has refused to deal with.
"This forest is full of monsters, how can you sit there and eat honey!!?"

We are seeing things from Piglet's Pov... QAQ

Doki Denki Studio:
"IN MY RESTLESS DREAM. I SEE THAT FOREST. 100 ACRE WOOD.
YOU PROMISED TO TAKE ME THERE AGAIN, PIGLET.

WELL, I'M ALONE THERE NOW.
WAITING FOR YOU ... while eating honey."
Fun fact: According to the devs, that is almost exactly what happened, and Disney said, "OK, that works"
2:00 An interesting thing to note is Piglet is especially afraid of heights. This dream is exactly forging to psychologically disturb Piglet.

That awkward moment... when a tie-in game is a scarier Winnie the Pooh adaptation than "Blood and Honey."
The Virgin "THIS CHILDHOOD CHARACTER BUT WITH BLOOOOD" movie vs the chad unintentionally terrifying kids game.
@alex0017 tbh i don't think this was unintentional.

@Lum_Fao ? You ok in the head?
When Piglet dashes and pants, it feels like ilhie is struggling to breathe..like he is being strangled
It helped that John Fiedler, Piglet’s voice at the time, was showing his age.
Man this sudden explosion of interest in Piglet’s Big Game is nuts
Jesus, the devs put a lot of soul into the game.
Piglet wanders through the liminal confines of the subconscious mind, only to meet monstrous creatures that plague them…
The sequel will be less Silent Hill and more Persona
For real it reminds me of early Capcom horror. The running mechanic when Piglet gets scared reminds me of Clock Tower 3 where Alyssa would scramble when at low health.

There were a few areas in this game where I legit thought it looked like Clock Tower 3. Almost expected Scissorwoman to jump Piglet or something.

Okay… I need to see a documentary on how development was. I need to know what the development brainstorming process was when making a piglet game.
