I'm here at 92, mostly living alone for 25 years, except for a G-grandson i'm trying to stay for til he reaches adult hood. Lives with separate parents during school, but still at 13 chooses my house first when he's out. He keeps me Young!

I am 80 years old, I have lived alone for over 40 years since my divorce, My children say “ Don’t you get lonely living alone” I tell them “ No I don’t , I love the freedom to live my life for me because I quite like my own company. I have never liked joining groups because all too often people start to organise my life for me such as “ We are going on a day trip to the seaside and you will come with us won’t you” No thanks , if I want to go to the seaside I’ll take myself there” Sometimes I talk to myself, I discovered years ago that it’s quite a mentally healthy thing to do, when my daughter asked why I do that my reply was “ Because I know I’ll get an intelligent answer😊” The longer I can maintain my independence the better, I have so many hobbies and interests, the days are not long enough, long may it continue that way. Amen🙏
I've heard seniors 😮say exactly this when I drove for Driving Miss Daisy. But the reality was quite different. The reality was that they just wanted to be independent but in fact, for many reasons, they needed to be helped.
I'm 87 and live alone, a completely selfish life. I do exactly what I want when I want. I do have 2 children who help with my bucket list (outings, holidays, concerts etc) but mainly I just enjoy a solo life.

I was married for 42 years to a narsasistic man who only thought about himself. It didn't start out that way and that is how they reel you in. I got more and more ignored every year, and although hurt at first, all he taught me was that being alone wasn't a bad thing! He died in February from cancer... KARMA came to my rescue... I'm loving my new life. ❤😅❤

I’m 83 and have lived alone for 24 years. There were some years when my son lived with me because he needed a place to live but he no longer lives with me for quite awhile. I enjoy the freedom I have and don’t rely on help from my kids. I do hire outside help if something needs to be repaired. I am active and exercise daily. I also watch what I eat and socialize with friends and I bowl on a league. For the most part I am positive and have a deep faith In God.
My friend is 91 and lives alone, does all her own housework, gardening and shopping. What is so unusual about that? She looks after herself and is not lazy.
I am 68 years and live alone for 8 years. I am very happy, as i am free to do as i like. Ive been monitoring my pension skillfully. At times i ask my nieces or nephews to do errands with a little compensation, of course. My daughter thinks she is entitled to my pension, and is upset that i dont give her money to school her children. My son gives me monetary assistance often, but thinks i should get someone to live with me, or employ a helper. I'd rather do my work which gives me exercise, until i cant. Friends and relatives from afar visit occasionally and we have a great time. Even though i have chalenges with osteoporosis, i am very happy. I was a teacher all my life, and gets great pleasure watching the children going and coming from school. I have a positive mindset. And is happy to accept the things i cant change.

I am Almost 78 years old and very independent and love my privacy and not being burden to my only one child never remarried since 32 years old with 2 yrs old son raising him as a single mom . I have one granddaughter 4 yrs old and still drive to go visit her in San Diego. I love my freedom.
I'm 91 years old retired and American citizen not sick of any kind, my only maintenance medicine is high blood pressure, when i was in american i live one of my kids, its kind hard for living with them, so i move to my own country Philippines, here i live alone with my small dollar pension, now I'm alone with my own rules anyway I don't have any help , now I realized living alone of old age is a big deal.
The Best way to live ones Own life. At 92, I think my kids have finally stopped trying to just Move in with me. I only allow my G-grandson of 13, to spend many hours and days here, like all summer and time out of school here. Love his company and cooking for him.
I am turning 81 in a few weeks. My husband of 99 has entered in to an aged care home. So I am alone now. I have always been quite active with gardening, housework and other Hobbys. I also painted the inside of our house. I have all battery operated tools like mower, hedge clipper, edge clipper, even a chain saw. Due to some trees I cut down. My grandson told me, you are the coolest grandma, made me smile. Yes I have some health issues but that will not stop me for now.

Hi I am 81 years old going 82..everyone says I look like I am in my 60's..I go ballroom dancing 3 times a week with my own DI , dancing instructor and we usually dance 4 hours everytime..I also play golf and swim..my eyesight is very good as well as my hearing. My smell is so strong that they say I am like a hound..for me life is wonderful and I know our Lord is the reason for what I am...I just thank God for being so good to me...Thankyou Lord for blessing me none stop...🥰❤️🌹🙏🏌🏻♀️💃🏿🙏🙏
I’m having my 86th birthday in October. I’m not living alone - I have a little cat companion. I’ve been on my own for almost half of my life and the freedom to choose how I want to spend my days. I have lots of activities - gardening, a pond, some art projects, I like to cook and I often have weekend guests. I’m not much of a joiner and seem to get along with myself very well. I’ve got a bum knee but still remain active even though there’s pain - the pain just reminds me that I’m alive. It’s a life I heartily recommend if possible.

I too live alone, at 88. Might get a smaller home as I'm getting lazy now - don't want to do much, just tidying, cooking, a bit of gardening, reading, watching tv, and sleeping!

Maintaining a healthy life style is crucial. I'm 84, have 3 daughters, 3 grand-kids, (one just turned 8) and my best friend, my ex-wife (we were married 29 years) and it seems that she and I both love our solitary lives with the connection of our family. I prefer to mostly keep my own company but I love my extended family connections.

I'm 69 and this is very good reminder. I really need to put more attention to the wisdom you shared while I still got time. I'm another senior, I will be 80 this December. I'm feeling good and use my stairway for exercise, 3 stories up and down. I use the elevator only when I come from the grocery store. I manage my arthritis pretty good. I am very content. I know how to go out for social time once or twice a week. I keep a positive mindset and read and write daily. I live in a secure senior building, but I have extra security from the inside. I consider my many blessings from from God.
At first when my husband died, I was lost being alone. That was 14 yrs,ago when I was 67. I am now 81 and love being my own boss, coming and going as I please. I have 2 furry friends that keep me company. I like a quiet house, not having to eat on a schedule and talking on the phone for hours with old friends..I guess since I married young I never knew what having freedom meant..I raised 4 kids while my husband worked 2 jobs.
9 I am a new widow and I a learning how to take of a house and yard. So far the yard is my huge problem as the weather has been so hot I can’t do everything needed. I have taken care of the grass problem so I do feel I am making progress. I do agree that taking care of yourself is the most important thing to do for yourself!

I am an immigrant but left my community both overseas and here because I felt confined and not supported by them. I left them with love not resentment. I had gone through the dark night of the soul but believe me it was worth it. I found out who I am and learnt step by step to live my life and empower myself. I am 66 years old learning how to age gracefully and happily....Single bachelor with one 31 years old Godson without his dad who had left his mom and his two younger siblings at his age of ten. I bought 2 Condos...one for me/8th. foors and one for him/27th.floors but he wished to stay with me to take care of me while we both move up and down our both Condos. The 8th .floors is Strictly for my hobbies to keep me busy...plantings... decorations...cookings... basically for my Solitudes .. Quality Times for my freedoms to do what I am happy without any disturbances...Only Me with my pets...My Ways My Rules..My Own World.yaaa happy me...

I agree totally with this! Living with realizes is exhausting! Not very peaceful! It is restrictive! I currently live my sister's family, l am saving to leave! I have a job at jcpenney and have my retirement so l will be OK! I go to the gym 3 times a week! I am only 69 yrs old l feel l have a chance to escape lol! I am very independent in my thinking as well! I have hobbies,gardening reading,l play guitar, l like to go to the movies and the beach! I don't feel selfish at all wanting to leave, it is the right thing for me. I know it! Iwas divorced 30 yrs ago and have no children or other family,that is fine with me! Living alone is fine, until you can't. We don't know and never will know what tomorrow may bring. Be ready and prepare for what tomorrow may bring. It may be very lonely. Have a backup plan.
Absolutely, I am 69 and just broke my ankle in 3 places! Never dreamed in a million years this could happen! I don't know what I would have done if one of my sons was not living with me at the moment as I have been entirely immobile. It is very sobering and on the plus side, a good flag to make me pay more attention to the things that lend to better quality of life as an aging female.
I am in total agreement with Sheryl at age 80 which turns out to be the best days of my life. The freedom I experience in this sanctuary of self-reliance is priceless in peace and deep creativity compelled by the power of solitude. I live "alone" and come and go with family. I don't know how long this will be since my little house is open for anyone them to stay if times get hard. I enjoy the outings and I enjoy being here with my 2 big shelter dogs and learning things on YT. Sometimes it bothers my ego that with all these children and grandchildren I have to cut my own hair.....but I don't ask for anything unless really, really have to. I have little debt and sleep well and pray all the time without words.
Daily life is much harder than it used to be…..all the domestic admin takes forever these days. Everyday procedures are too complicated so that the bots can cope! We can quite often do, ourselves, something in a simple was that is direct, sensible and successful. We can eat what suits us, stay up or go to bed as we please, we don’t have to follow someone else’s regime, we can cash in on our experience where others might dither or dictate. I recommend it.
I agree I'm 75 and love being healthy active and single. Still running a business ,nap when I want,and walk my dog..eat healthy. Try to learn something new each day. Feeling blessed.
I am 82 y. O. Very much active, still drives to Maryland, play piano and organ at church. I don’t take blood pressure meds, and do much more. My children are always there if I need them. God is good to me, all the time.
I am 81. Worked until I was 75 and loved it. I lived alone since my mid 40’s had have loved it. My children are raised and I have four wonderful grandchildren. Last year my rent went up beyond my means. I split the cost of turning my son’s carrriage house second floor into a studio Apt for me. It is so different. Now my children feel free to discuss my taste and activities and tell me what I should and can no longer do. It is a new town and takes more miles to drive and get to anything I need. Many changes our country really needs more affordable senior housing especially,not assisted care at 3000$ a month or much more. My life has changed without a doubt although my rent is half of what it used to be.. whether after 18 months that it was worth it remains to be seen.
I love my life; turning 75 in a few days. I have great health; learned about natural healing years ago. I stay active & don’t take any medication. This is indeed my best life.

Thank you for the advice....I just turned 74 and at times have episodes of depression...I am divorced since 2006 and decided not to continue looking for a live-in companion as I am already accustomed to living alone and keeping myself busy so as to continue having something to look forward to each day...this video has given me more strength and to continue putting the Lord first in my life...
I’m 69 yrs. old has been living by myself for 6 yrs. I moved to another state because unable to handle the winter snow, now I found no friends in the state where I live, I have a daughter which is 6 miles away I met people in church but not considered as friends though we pray together at times, I decided to continue working a part time just to be able to move and communicate with my co workers. I’m planning to join a fitness club and join any exercise program to keep my mind and body and hopefully I will find someone who I can call a friend with the interest someday 😊
Its all about freedom. She highlights all the great aspects about living alone. Those of us who are lucky enough to have caring children all face the difficult task of explaining to them why we prefer living on our own.....but it really all comes back to the Freedom one has. I am 81, have some mobility challenges, been alone for 37 years since my husband died and I am A OK!

Groceries can be delivered. Taxi, oats bus, take folks to appointments. Movies, wifi, netflex etc and few cats. Perfect 🎉

I am Almost 78 years old and very independent and love my privacy and not being burden to my only one child never remarried since 32 years old with 2 yrs old son raising him as a single mom . I have one granddaughter 4 yrs old and still drive to go visit her in San Diego. I love my freedom.

I'm 91 years old retired and American citizen not sick of any kind, my only maintenance medicine is high blood pressure, when i was in american i live one of my kids, its kind hard for living with them, so i move to my own country Philippines, here i live alone with my small dollar pension, now I'm alone with my own rules anyway I don't have any help , now I realized living alone of old age is a big deal.

The Best way to live ones Own life. At 92, I think my kids have finally stopped trying to just Move in with me. I only allow my G-grandson of 13, to spend many hours and days here, like all summer and time out of school here. Love his company and cooking for him.
I am turning 81 in a few weeks. My husband of 99 has entered in to an aged care home. So I am alone now. I have always been quite active with gardening, housework and other Hobbys. I also painted the inside of our house. I have all battery operated tools like mower, hedge clipper, edge clipper, even a chain saw. Due to some trees I cut down. My grandson told me, you are the coolest grandma, made me smile. Yes I have some health issues but that will not stop me for now.

Hi I am 81 years old going 82..everyone says I look like I am in my 60's..I go ballroom dancing 3 times a week with my own DI , dancing instructor and we usually dance 4 hours everytime..I also play golf and swim..my eyesight is very good as well as my hearing. My smell is so strong that they say I am like a hound..for me life is wonderful and I know our Lord is the reason for what I am...I just thank God for being so good to me...Thankyou Lord for blessing me none stop...🥰❤️🌹🙏🏌🏻♀️💃🏿🙏🙏

I’m having my 86th birthday in October. I’m not living alone - I have a little cat companion. I’ve been on my own for almost half of my life and the freedom to choose how I want to spend my days. I have lots of activities - gardening, a pond, some art projects, I like to cook and I often have weekend guests. I’m not much of a joiner and seem to get along with myself very well. I’ve got a bum knee but still remain active even though there’s pain - the pain just reminds me that I’m alive. It’s a life I heartily recommend if possible.

Maintaining a healthy life style is crucial. I'm 84, have 3 daughters, 3 grand-kids, (one just turned 8) and my best friend, my ex-wife (we were married 29 years) and it seems that she and I both love our solitary lives with the connection of our family. I prefer to mostly keep my own company but I love my extended family connections.

I'm another senior, I will be 80 this December. I'm feeling good and use my stairway for exercise, 3 stories up and down. I use the elevator only when I come from the grocery store. I manage my arthritis pretty good. I am very content. I know how to go out for social time once or twice a week. I keep a positive mindset and read and write daily. I live in a secure senior building, but I have extra security from the inside. I consider my many blessings from from God.

At first when my husband died, I was lost being alone. That was 14 yrs,ago when I was 67. I am now 81 and love being my own boss, coming and going as I please. I have 2 furry friends that keep me company. I like a quiet house, not having to eat on a schedule and talking on the phone for hours with old friends..I guess since I married young I never knew what having freedom meant..I raised 4 kids while my husband worked 2 jobs.
9 I am a new widow and I a learning how to take of a house and yard. So far the yard is my huge problem as the weather has been so hot I can’t do everything needed. I have taken care of the grass problem so I do feel I am making progress. I do agree that taking care of yourself is the most important thing to do for yourself!

I am an immigrant but left my community both overseas and here because I felt confined and not supported by them. I left them with love not resentment. I had gone through the dark night of the soul but believe me it was worth it. I found out who I am and learnt step by step to live my life and empower myself. I bought 2 Condos...one for me/8th. foors and one for him/27th.floors but he wished to stay with me to take care of me while we both move up and down our both Condos. The 8th .floors is Strictly for my hobbies to keep me busy...plantings... decorations...cookings... basically for my Solitudes .. Quality Times for my freedoms to do what I am happy without any disturbances...Only Me with my pets...My Ways My Rules..My Own World.yaaa happy me...

I agree totally with this! Living with realizes is exhausting! Not very peaceful! It is restrictive! I currently live my sister's family, l am saving to leave! I have a job at jcpenney and have my retirement so l will be OK! I go to the gym 3 times a week! I am only 69 yrs old l feel l have a chance to escape lol! I am very independent in my thinking as well! I have hobbies,gardening reading,l play guitar, l like to go to the movies and the beach! I don't feel selfish at all wanting to leave, it is the right thing for me. I know it! Iwas divorced 30 yrs ago and have no children or other family,that is fine with me! Living alone is fine, until you can't. We don't know and never will know what tomorrow may bring. Be ready and prepare for what tomorrow may bring. It may be very lonely. Have a backup plan.
Absolutely, I am 69 and just broke my ankle in 3 places! Never dreamed in a million years this could happen! I don't know what I would have done if one of my sons was not living with me at the moment as I have been entirely immobile. It is very sobering and on the plus side, a good flag to make me pay more attention to the things that lend to better quality of life as an aging female.
I am in total agreement with Sheryl at age 80 which turns out to be the best days of my life. The freedom I experience in this sanctuary of self-reliance is priceless in peace and deep creativity compelled by the power of solitude. I love it and remain ever grateful to God for this golden opportunity.

I live "alone" and come and go with family. I don't know how long this will be since my little house is open for anyone them to stay if times get hard. I enjoy the outings and I enjoy being here with my 2 big shelter dogs and learning things on YT. Sometimes it bothers my ego that with all these children and grandchildren I have to cut my own hair.....but I don't ask for anything unless really, really have to. I have little debt and sleep well and pray all the time without words.
Elderly people should focus exclusively on their own well being and health. They have to let their children live their own life.

Daily life is much harder than it used to be…..all the domestic admin takes forever these days. Everyday procedures are too complicated so that the bots can cope! We can quite often do, ourselves, something in a simple was that is direct, sensible and successful. We can eat what suits us, stay up or go to bed as we please, we don’t have to follow someone else’s regime, we can cash in on our experience where others might dither or dictate. I recommend it.

I am 82 y. O. Very much active, still drives to Maryland, play piano and organ at church. I don’t take blood pressure meds, and do much more. My children are always there if I need them. God is good to me, all the time.

I will be 85 next month and I’m happy living alone in my own house. I did Zumba class 3 times a week and join my friends on occasion and I’m happy.
I am 81. Worked until I was 75 and loved it. I lived alone since my mid 40’s had have loved it. My children are raised and I have four wonderful grandchildren. Last year my rent went up beyond my means. I split the cost of turning my son’s carrriage house second floor into a studio Apt for me. It is so different. Now my children feel free to discuss my taste and activities and tell me what I should and can no longer do. It is a new town and takes more miles to drive and get to anything I need. Many changes our country really needs more affordable senior housing especially,not assisted care at 3000$ a month or much more. My life has changed without a doubt although my rent is half of what it used to be.. whether after 18 months that it was worth it remains to be seen.
Me again. Eight grandchildren, missing typed. They are a joy.

Thank you for the advice....I just turned 74 and at times have episodes of depression...I am divorced since 2006 and decided not to continue looking for a live-in companion as I am already accustomed to living alone and keeping myself busy so as to continue having something to look forward to each day...this video has given me more strength and to continue putting the Lord first in my life...
I’m 69 yrs. old has been living by myself for 6 yrs. I moved to another state because unable to handle the winter snow, now I found no friends in the state where I live, I have a daughter which is 6 miles away I met people in church but not considered as friends though we pray together at times, I decided to continue working a part time just to be able to move and communicate with my co workers. I’m planning to join a fitness club and join any exercise program to keep my mind and body and hopefully I will find someone who I can call a friend with the interest someday 😊
