It's Mothers Day on Sunday in the UK...Watching you and your Mom makes me miss my Mom so much. You clearly have a fantastic relationship xxx I miss my Mom every single day we were best friends ❤️
I’d love one of those flower boxes hey. So pretty ❤ Also, I think that artwork looks super cool. A drone’s eye view would be interesting. Probably not allowed though due to the residential buildings nearby hey. 🙂🐿🌈❤️
Ha! "an eyesore" is way nicer than what I would have said about those stupid buildings. Your mum is super. I love all of your video footage of cruising the canal, and the music, it's so peaceful. I have another sip of my wine and smile. 🙂 Swan babies, how cute. And hey Heidi, don't turn up your nose at the idea of your mum getting her own boat. I know people in their 90's here who run their own boat on Puget Sound, with tides and currents and winds. Your mum would be an excellent boat handler. I'm 74 and I drive a pickup truck and haul a 21-foot travel trailer behind me, and park it in all manner of beautiful locations. Your mum is young! Ahhh, ok, that thing on the wall is the end of a heavy wire cable ... evidently that brick wall had started to collapse, so they anchored a heavy wire cable into the ground on the other side of the wall, then ran it through the wall, and put that round thing and the two nuts on the end ... all to hold the wall up. Happens a lot. It's either a long heavy wire cable that goes into the ground or it's a spike that goes through to another wall on the other side. Given the angle of the spike and the nuts on this side, I'd say it's a wire cable going into the ground on the other side. But then, I've been known to be full of "eyesore"! ha. 🙂
Your Mam is a class act... lovely and I'll miss her being on the videos with you. Don't forget to tell those naughty dolls off... they proper photobombed your video again!
Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland Negotiating those 9 wide locks underneath Manchester looked a bit scary to me. Been there before with Foxes Afloat and Narrowboat Life Unlocked. However, I clearly remember many of the buildings you passed especially Canal Street and the railway bridge with its castle towers. Through Castlefield and onto the Bridgewater. Now I really know where you are - Stretford, Sale, Brooklands, Timperley, Altrincham and Broadheath . My "playground" as a child. The cruise to Lymm was lovely - superb memories. "Nip In The Air" is a fabulous piece of music and fitted the cruise perfectly. I shall miss your Mum very much. A smashing lady. A fantastic video full of smiles fun and laughter. Your commentary was wonderful. Thanks so much. Stay safe please.
vehicles rarely ever have beautiful views but you get them at times and rails give you better views than vehicles but nothing touches a narrowboats view!!! That is amazing!!! Wish they just landscaped all the urban stretches better and the rural sections that have structures because the views would be way better than they are!!!
Soooooo wonderful to be able to spend time mum and daughter time. My Dad passed away nearly 23 years ago and my mum nearly 2 years ago. Luckily me and mum had lots of good memories and quality time together before dementia kicked in and we lost her. So important. Am still catching up on all Ur videos, love them as funny and informative. Thankyou and happy Christmas xx
The painted floor was really nice. I really enjoy your videos. It's great to see your mum enjoying herself. My mom didn't live long enough to see me move onto a boat and I'm sure she would have loved it.
We went up the 9 about 4 years ago early on a Monday morning. As I came to the underpass lock a chap had built a fire against a pillar and was cooking up his heroin. “It’s ok mate” he said “I’ll get out of your way”. I couldn’t shift the gate and was stuck until a German tourist on an ABC hireboat came along in the opposite direction and we help each other through. Actually the drug users tend to keep themselves to themselves; it’s the drunks that are the problem!
We didn’t have any problems …. When I single handed it a few years ago from Castlefield to New Islington there was a homeless guy who helped me with the gate there …. There were no other boats and wide locks are slow on your own - it took me almost 10hrs 😂😂
Do you remember the Boddingtons advert with "Gladys Allthorpe" in a gondola?. I walked past them filming that ad on the canal under queenstreet. It must have been seven or eight months later before it was on the telly. Then it all made sense... that's my claim to fame.... 😅😊
As usual, enjoyed the filming. Very colourful in Manchester, don't you fancy having blacking brightened up with all those colours. More power to your drinking elbow Skipper. Take care and best wishes from an ex boater. B.
Your mums great. 100% agree they are an eyesore, A quick tail about the Rochdale 9. I stand a little over 6foot 2 inch with a 56 inch chest. My love of a wife is just a little over 5 foot tall and is 8 stone wet through called me back on the boat after seeing a note in one of the guides and reading the warnings signs, she completed working the locks not letting me off. She was and i quote "worried about me" God love her. stay safe and have fun.
Awww bless her Tony… I have single handed them locks in the past as I use to moor in New Islington marina and a 3 hrs trip took me almost 10 hrs 😂😂 wide locks are hard with just one boat 🏴☠️
Hi Heidi it was really great to meet you and mum we love joining you each week on your adventures hopefully we will meet again soon cheers 🍻 Dave and Terri NB Home James
The floor graffiti/art was good. I loved doing this section a few years ago, partly because it went through an area I knew quite well, as I was a student in Manchester between 1975 and 1978. I'd had an interest in canals from an early age, and I'd hired my first narrowboat when I was in the 6th Form with a mate of mine Richard and six girls. It was a very enjoyable holiday :) I love that whole Castlefield area. Although I grew up in Liverpool, I was actually born in Sale which you cruised through in this video :)
Howdy Heidi & mum. Manchester can be difficult to navigate and some areas it is better not to stop. Enjoyed the cruise very much. Cheers Keith Melbourne Australia.
Heidi. See you at Middlewich. The red spike in the wall is a very long oversize bolt to hold walls and old buildings together. You see them on old barns. Mark. NB LUCY ANN
😂😂 awww thanks for watching Robbie, that means a lot ❤️🏴☠️ I’m just DJing Lfest and Unityfest this year I’m a ‘80s/90s Anthems electro house DJ’ so doubt it will go down well at the folk & boat 😂
I got very drunk on Kracken during the queens platinum jubilee concert. By the end, Dianna Ross seemed like the best thing I’d ever seen! I can’t remember going to bed but I remember having my head down the toilet most of the night! Not sure when I’ll be able to face another tot of it but it’s damn tasty! Thanks for another great vlog. X
I love your Mum, she reminds me so much of my Mum, she was a real trooper, nothing was too hard for her. Your no fuss attitude comes from your Mum I think. Bloody Nora girl, I've now learnt what dogging is from you and whatever that other word was, I just HAD to google it about what goes on under those bridges, thanks for nothing! Lol. Of course none of that nonsense goes on in New Zealand, we're much more civilized!! Haha. Cheers!
That's crazy, I just watched a video of someone catching the men down under the bridge. Strange when you learn something new, You seem to see it all the time. definitely a strange place to go cottaging lol
Aww another great Vlog, your mum really enjoyed herself bless her. It does look a bit dodgy in places there but interesting too and I liked the paint, a bit of good old street are 😀. Thanks so much BW always xxxx
I always feel sad when company that we’ve had on board leave, it seems quiet without them somehow 🥺. We bought our boat from a boatyard in Lymm back in 2011. For Jim it was love at first sight 🙃
Heidi. You are just the best. You never fail to make us laugh!. Love you, love your mom. Hopefully we will meet you on the canal. Keep up the great work. LOVE IT XXX
Just watched the vlog cool as always Heidi hey got to the end and noticed Rosie and Jim behind you are having a good time in the background Oo'er Missus haha. xx
I love Friday mornings, wake up get my toast and coffee and watch Heidi signing off my week. Lol I hope you put a blanket over those dolls going under the bridge at Manchester. The painting looks like they gave a young budding artist some left over paint and told to paint some flowers, better than something obscene and negative. Hope you enjoy the quiet countryside while you are sorting stuff for the hopefully busy festival weekend coming up. =-)
Aww thanks again Lorraine - them dolls are so naughty 😂😂 it’s so great to be back in the countryside and yes the art work did brighten up the lock and gave us something to talk about which I think good art should do 😃🏴☠️❤️ have a lovely day and thanks again for watching 😃
Did the Rochdale 9’years ago now in horrible weather took all 4 of us to move the gates there was so much water over the tops, glad you had help though love to you both and mum great vlog
Thanks Philip, when I single handed up to New Islington about 5 years ago it took me 10 hours 😂😂 but luckily it was quite an easy trip having the 2 boats together, easier than the Ashton in the previous video anyway 😂🏴☠️
Bye Mum, been great meeting you! "Absolute eyesore"--yes, yes, yes! Sidewalk art--I think it's lovely, Heidi. Bright and cheery and so unlike the mindless graffitti that plagues big cities. Lovely, interesting vlog, as always. Thanks.
Hahaa my mum loves all the old buildings being a country bumpkin 😂😂 The art at the lock did brighten the place up and got us talking which is what art is supposed to do I think 😃🏴☠️
