Yes Rambo hairstyle. Was on paddle steamer Waverley yesterday and that was windy cruising 14kts into wind that was coming at us at 15kts. 30kts that blew the top off my beer!
WE have see your boat several times while we were crusing but you were always engaged with others. So never met >we have left the canals and now live in France we do long term hire in the ukThe temp here to day is 31C and no wind so we envy you for cool. Another great one, cheers cocka. When you book on the Bridgewater you can add 3 days for free, it says ‘to get to your destination off the Bridgewater’. We used it no probs so remember for next time. Have a rum for us
The Bridgewater was built as a 'contour' canal and between Wigan and Lymm there is a variance of only 2ft in the towpath making it a great cycle route apart from Lymm to Dunham on which cycling is not permitted, not that you would want to given the dire state of the towpath in places. As far as being quiet goes you have to be kidding me. The stretch between Broadheath and Stretford Marina is like the M6 in rush hour. It certainly isn't deep in most places. After a boat has passed the bottom is thoroughly churned up for fishing. At best it is no more than 3ft perhaps 4ft in the odd place. I fish bottom usually with no more than a 2ft 6in rig.

If it gets impossible to travel due to bad weather, do the canal authorities make allowances for the time period you are scheduled to navigate by?
