I got the same kit as yours when it first came out but my kit also came with the blade sharpener and the flex cable. I would suggest to any one looking to get a Dremel get the biggest kit with the most attachments and accessories. It might be a little costly if you don’t buy them around the holidays. If you don’t get a kit and then when you’ll need one of the attachments they are going to be more expensive as a single attachment. I’ve had my kit for over 12 years and still works great as long as you let the tool work it its own speed.
I got a new Dremmel 4300 and have spent hours trying to figure out how the darn thing works. Thank you so much for your review as I learned more in this 20 minute review than in all the others. Also thank you for keeping the dremmel tool in the picture at all times as the others seem to move it out of view when doing what I want to see. Thanks again. Looking forward to your other videos.
I would totally subscribe to more channels if ppl were as honest as you were about how it helps you out. Very refreshing. I was already going to subscribe but your sincerity and honesty lead me to leave this comment...something I almost never do. Great video. headed to purchase one meow. Thanks
You know those little pressed metal spanners that you get with Dremels, routers and other tools? Throw them away and buy a proper spanner. That way the collet nuts last forever. Good review, very useful.
Thank you for the "normal person" opinion/review. I'm looking to buy my first Dremel-type tool, and didn't know where to start, with all that are on the market (Dremel and others). I'm a big step closer to my new hobby of engraving glass.
I just bought the Dremel 4000 and so far I love it. I have watched several videos on different models and I feel I bought the right one. My next purchase is going to be the flex shaft (looking forward to that) I have an idea of the perfect Dremel / router work station complete with 14 in Lazy Susan and over head accessory storage unit adding the vice from your work station to my plans, waiting until my last move into retirement/hobby mode for that build in the mean time am learning and practicing skills to assist with crafts for flea market to supplement retirement income. BTW great video and review keep up the good work.
I would love to see you make a project tutorial. I am a newbie in working with wood, and would like to watch you make a project from start to finished (even if you do it in parts).
Yeah I understand I've been super busy I'm going to move to another state. I'll try to do one good project video before I leave and a few informational videos. So if if you would tell me what you would like to see I'll try to make it
Maybe a model car, a bird cage or a small round jewelry box with an inlay top. I am preparing to purchase the Dremel Moto-Saw and Drill Press Workstation. I would like to begin this new endeavor making puzzles, and then moving on to other hobbyist projects.
Okay well I'll do some videos of the dremel workstation and things it can help you with that I discovered when I get back to my home state I will be doing more real projects.
Recently, purchsased the Dremel 4300. Playing around with it is fun. However, the attachments are not really demonstrated enough for me. I appreciate your Demo!!
Thnx for the review im thinking of buying this machine as well. About your third 'problem' with this machine, the difficulty with grabbing the hook.. You try to grab only one bar, but I think it should be easier when you grab both bars between your index finger and your thumb.
I bought a Dremel 4200 a year or two ago, paid the extra to get the fast release chuck which is a great idea. Now I am very disappointed with my buy - after a couple of years of light hobby work it suddenly stopped working - erratic start -up, then just cut out. Cleaned the brushes, no better, pulled it apart to clean the armature, then checked the bearings to see how they were - crap ! Major roughness in the rear bearing, so cleaned it with solvent and re-oiled, still rough so its for the bin. Can I press it off and replace - not easily thats for sure. Maybe with a small hydraulic press? But the forums say the bearings are specials ie Dremel-only size - so special, but not in quality. Had an idea, why not use the bearing from my old 395 Dremel armature - that model open-circuited the armature due to my overloading it, my fault, but the bearings were good. Guess what - the hi-spec, more power fab new 4300 has a 14.75mm OD bearing, the old 395 has an 18.75mm OD bearing - no longer the 395 went for years and the 4300 has s..t itself after much less use. And it was rough from the very beginning. I would never buy another Dremel. Clearly the company is run by people who are purely after the quick buck, not people who are wanting to produce a high quality, durable tool that can be relied on. Looking through the forums only confirms this belief - Dremel used to have a great name but now, you might as well buy the cheap Chinese one if you expect failure after a little use, better still go for an expensive high quality brand with good references.
Well the issue with dremel is the parts are so precise that there can be issues sometimes. But of any tool bought it is well worth buying extended warranty. These things can happen to any other brands of tools depending on the use and care of the tool or if there are minor issues that become a greater problem in the future.
Sure, but why go from a higher-spec bearing in the 395, with a less powerful motor, to a lower spec bearing in the 4200? Check out the armature - around 25% bigger [longer] in the 4200.To save 50c? I would guess there is approx. 50% reduction in bearing load capacity going from a bearing 15mm OD to a bearing with 19mm OD, same 6mm ID. We are talking about the rear bearing here - easy to replace if only Dremel sold them as a part, instead of selling a whole armature for $78 US++. Many Dremel tool users are fully capable of removing and pressing on a new bearing. All this system does is create more junk to be put in landfill. Not that Im saying Dremel are the only ones at all, it is the norm in this disposable manufacturing world.....
I have removed the offending bearing, used a series of sharp taps with a flat-nosed punch while holding the armature in an aluminum vise [be persistent...] and about to refit new 626VVJAP [ 6x19x6mm] same as in a 389 and seems to fit the case recess perfectly and will test tonight - original is a 696ZZ63 [6x15x5mm] - will report back then. I have been a loyal Dremel customer [this is my fourth] but if someone has a better experience with another brand Id be happy to try it....@@l33tsh33p
I bought the Dremel 4000 a couple of days ago. I can’t say I’m impressed with it. It sounds like a bag of bolts especially at low speeds. But early days yet I’ll see how it goes.
Hmmm that's odd might want to send it back while under warranty or take it back to store if you can. I haven't heard of that problem, but it definitely doesn't sound normal.
I love my Dremel 4002 works great the only problem I have with it is a little plastic like that holds a shout when you’re taking the chuck does not hold up to anything.
The tool you use to tighten the collet? On the rear there is a little tab. I suspect that's what you use to get the hanging hook out. No finger nails required. Great review, thanks for this, Ive just bought one on the basis of this and one other review Ive watched.
My first 4000 was great fun then it started just slowing to a stop and wouldn't hold a speed. Did all the suggested fixes, including new brushes and speed controller. Gave up and bought another one. 6 months later the same crap. Gave up and bought a Proxxon. It tends to heat up faster but it's reliable so much preferred. I mostly do polishing of small intricate metal parts with occasional cutting and drilling.
Man that is bad to hear. I encountered many people at the beginning of last year that had many problems close to that issue. of either loud noises or slow speeds. i believe a bad batch of units went out. I'm hoping they will workout errors more often in the next year.
C W have you opened your failed dremel? I have noticed many people fixing the attachment clips to the copper coil inside. It seems the wire breaks to one clip.
I just got a Dremel 4000 I really like it but it sounds bad at lower speeds like the brushes are bad but I checked them, and also it oscillates I don't know if this is normal, I guess I could exchange it. a month ago I tried to go cheap a bought a Black and Decker from Amazon a so called 2 amp but it burned up in a week
I noticed another person commented and said theirs sounded terrible also. It could just be a defect in a batch of them. I would try to return it to the store you bought it from if you bought from store. I will make a video really soon seeing if I can do some research to address the issue.
I am thinking of purchasing the Dermel 4000 for automotive use. I will be primarily using it for cleaning/sanding and metal cutoff. Will it be able to cut off rusted bolts?
Yes it will, especially in the harder to reach spaces and diamond cutting wheels are a lot thinner so will most likely help alot more than the normal cutting disk.
I got the same kit as you and like it so far I alway got the cheaper brands and they work ok but not long I know Dremel has been a top Bronx for a very long time so I splurged lol
Yeah that kit saves some money too. I enjoy it a lot and love to work with it but I'm living out of state so I have to wait until summer to get back to my tools
Hi I'm james I've got the dremel 4000 it's a good tool with attachments well worth the money there are so many attachments for it very versatile and handy tool to have to get the best out of it let it cool of between issue don't run it for to long a time plus don't over load it no matter what size it's a great tool so have fun be safe right tool for right job cheers james fp
What is the actual difference between 4000 and 4300? I mean, some say that 4300 is incompatible with some 4000 stuff, but is that changing? Will the same stuff be soon available for 4300 too? Is the 4000 being phased out? Or is the 4300 just some hippy version of 4000?
The 4300 has a 1.8 motor versus the 1.6 in the 4000 model. But the 4300 is bigger than the 4000 and that might not be helpful with handling. Here is a great website which I found information about the two side by side.www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=toolspeek.com/dremel-4000-vs-4300/%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwjslfGEutDoAhUF2KQKHZ28BeMQFjAGegQIDhAI&usg=AOvVaw1RHjg5ZCyQC1KQXosyKycx&cf=1
My 4000 works perfectly fine I run it to the extreme and also mine has a dial for the speed where as yours is a switch. You might be able to replace the switch or if under warranty get the whole tool replaced. But I love the 4000 has not failed yet in any way.
I know nothing about the dremel. I seriously need your help. I am looking for more of crafts such as blocks of wood, rounding edges and corners. I will be chalking on the blocks. What else does the dremel do? Maybe you can do a video on a real project showing what it does? Thanks
When I get a chance I will I am living in another state to go to Charis Bible College. I will be home for Christmas break I might be able to do a project. Thank you for your comment
I need to cut a 5/8" piece of pressed (?) wood, I used a 25 setting on the 4000 and I swear it was smoking. I then tried a lower setting and it just grind. Your suggestion?
Is it a hardwood? If so you should be operating around 30-35 thousand rpm. If you are using the spiral cutter it has to be tight in the shaft and be at high speed. Other wise the bit will slip burn and smoke usually. You can send me a email my address is in the description and show me a picture of what your working with.
Buddy i have to say you are right i got mine at Christmas and i like them they're good at doing the job you are working on and i do like them and I'm going to get some of the attachments i need. But form all and all they are good tools and i like to thank you for showing about them.

It is currently $79.00 if your order the package I got that comes with attachments. It usually stays around that price might go cheaper for Christmas or a good deal on a higher rated model. But the dremel 4,000 is a great start tool at a good price.
I got the same kit as yours when it first came out but my kit also came with the blade sharpener and the flex cable. Great review I just brought one yesterday maybe with the metal hook you could use the Dremel flex shaft go cut more of a indent into the body 😊
I really want to see the video of the bench that you promised to uploaded.

what about the flex shaft? I had problems with the flex shaft having to much grease from the factory. That created an over heating of the Dremel 4000
I am having trouble getting the chuck off. Maybe I need plyers?
You mean like pulling the dremel bit out of the chuck?
All good now. It was tightened a little tight at the factory. Now I have a flex shaft attached. Thank you. Have a glorious day.

bro, what is the main difference between 4000 and 4300.

I own a100I and a 396 (and a Foredom for the biger jobs ,don't tell). I'm a professional sculptor and DREMEL are my favorite tools .
How much did you pay for it?
It is currently $79.00 if your order the package I got that comes with attachments. It usually stays around that price might go cheaper for Christmas or a good deal on a higher rated model. But the dremel 4,000 is a great start tool at a good price.
@@rotarytoolcreationsdiy6836 ooh ok. Thank you. Great vid!!
