Baked Beach Scene & Barrels - Bingin, 27 August 2019

- If you ever need a hard shot of vitamin D, about 15 minutes of mid afternoon sun on the beach at Bingin probably will fix you - place is like a furnace.
There were plenty of people baking on the beach and in the water yesterday, and with a medium/solid sized swell and low afternoon tide, the Bingin and Impossibles stretch would have been hard to beat.
There has been hardly any let up in the swell for the last week and the next set of seven looks like delivering much of the same, so plenty of options if you're lucky enough to be in Bali right now.

Crowded but what a great vibe!
Obviously Southern Hemi Winter is your peak swell season, but as a local, do you see any other time of year with this large of crowds on your local beaches? Different types of tourists when it's flat?
New Years period can get busy in certain areas, a lot of domestic tourists come that time of year.

Is Bingin fine for and intermediate to slightly advanced to surf on high tide or something other than low on that shallow reef
Jack Hawkins yeah just make sure you pull off before the ledge. You can surf it when the tides dropping it's just sketchy on dead low

Soft tops and surf schools out on the high tide on smaller days. Kids even going right. Complexion completely changes with the tides, 0.8 being the ideal tide for draining barrels.

What's it like for a family holiday, when I'm only surfer, much else for others to do, in land maybe?
There's definitely things for the rest of the family to do, like waterparks, Bali Safari, Monkey forest in Ubud etc..

See a few people carrying longboards but no obvious footage of them surfing. Surely this break is too critical a takeoff for a longboard?
That was from the earlier high tide when it was breaking soft and fat.
Too much of that green algae on the rocks means sewage. Waves are awesome though!

1 question, when it's over head and pumping, shat kind of board are u guy's rocking? A friend of mine just moved to Perth and invited me. I wanna stop off in Bali. Any advice? I've never surfed on that side of the world before.

I've got a 6'4 I'll pull out sometimes, but it really depends on your ability. There'll be guys on much shorter or longer boards when I'm riding my 6'4.

It is!! Feel, padle... And commit to the wave, each wave 🌊❤️ has magic with in, bingin is not an easy wave, but it always respond the same way!!
So if you are in the write place on the line up, and you feel the wave could be the one, you padle with the best intention and you commit to explore what the wave has for you, you will achieve the barrel!!

you should do some POV filming
I'm not a huge fan of POV, apart from big round barrels, and I have enough trouble negotiating the odd head dip without holding onto a GoPro 🙂 Komang might jump into the lineup with it one of these days though.
