Because something needs to give magic builds an actual edge in the competition between them and physical builds (support builds are just doing their own thing). yea i basically only did moonlight frost until superbosses(beside shiva if he can even be called a superboss anymore, with ice mage becomes a normal boss battle) literally, its fucked up, i did thalassic calamity if bosses didnt have any kind of resist to ice to be fair, it is the game where mc's theme is either the god of storms and oceans or the god of the moonlight... very ice themed lol
I think for this Video, you need a Pie Chart to see how much a Boss is weak to an Element (Physical, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Force, Dark, Light, and None)
Meanwhile we have I think, 5 bosses in the entire game weak to Phys. And only two of them are mandatory lol The 5 being, Namaah, Onyankapon, Innana, Tiamat's Goat Head and Masakado.
Thalassic Calamity is stronger. Moonlight Frost is only 200 base power, it's weaker than Bufudyne on single-target [215 power] and far weaker than Bufubarion [265]. Moonlight Frost's advantage is the AoE and peice; it's stronger than Mabufubarion [185]. It is weaker than Ice Age [230] however; and it costs 100 MP compared to Bufubarion's 50; Mabufubarion's 75 and Ice Age's 65. Moonlight Frost is a bad skill unless you are using it for both AoE and Peirce. Single-target peice you should be using Ice Age which is cheaper and stronger. Multi-target non-peice you should be using Bufubarion or Thalisstic Calamity. Thalassic Calamity; on single target; does 3*95. This gives it an effective power of 285 against a single target; surpassing Bufubarion. Only the Inanna-exclusive Raging Blizzard is stronger. In fights like Zeus+Odin; it's hitting 6 times. And if used with Dance; Thalassic Calamity will hit all 7 times on a single target; putting it at an absolutely monsterous 665 power. [potentially even higher with certain demon innates helping you out] Did I mention Calamity only costs 45 MP?
Not only is ice busted as a offensive type in the late game, but being immune to ice is also HUGE. I used a Jack Frost essence affinity for one of the fiends, and I just didn't change it until the very last hours because absorbing ice made many fights so much easier
Once you obtain Moonlight Frost, you finally get to understand what it was like to be on the receiving end of that from base SMTV, and it’s such a power fantasy. Then again, Vengeance already has given us even more Godlike tools, so I suppose it’s just the icing on the frosty cake. Also, on a side note, I take something of an offense slandering Amanozako, because she is our daughter, but I can’t say I disagree with the fact that Pixie is superior. I just have a thing for small companions being our partner, just look at Gallica. But I know it’s just jokes in a script. Cheers Jaff.
Thing is even without Moonlight Frost; in base game, the Nahobino's strongest unique skill in raw numbers was... Thaliistic Calamity. Which is Ice. I feel almost like Atlus was aware of this in Vengance and why they made Tiamat absorb Ice.
Ice really is one of the best elements in this game. If there's every someone doesn't wanna farm to max each magic afinity while doing a magic build Ice is at the top of the list along with elec and dark.
