I've been working on the Travis picking for this for months now, I'm a total beginner. Any advice? I can do the picking but not fast enough and when I try to change the cords I fall apart. I'm just going to keep on practicing until I get it no matter if it takes me years!
Keep working on it but better to slow down on the changes and trouble spots to go for accuracy and create proper muscle memory. Speed will come naturally. I play also for 1,5 year and I started practicing a version of this song early on. It took me like half a year to play it really comfortably. Also learned more songs in the meantime which added to the learning process. You can't rush the process but everyday regular practice is a must.
The plucking pattern is a bit tricky at first but keep practicing. It really helps to feel the melody in the ring finger of your plucking hand. Once you begin to associate the melody with the plucking pattern it becomes a lot easier especially for the chord changes. The ring finger plucks just before you switch chords in a consistent pattern for the whole song.
I'm trying to learn more than words by extreme, got same guitar as of yours, but it sounds a little different than recording, got any tips? Btw I saw that video of yours...

@@NickP-ug2bl Thank you for your advice, I practice every day and I will try to do as you suggested.

The tuning in “More Than Words” is a half step down. It’s in key of F#, but if you tune your guitar lower, you can play it with G chord shapes.
Great job!!! 👍
Thank you!
