Dear Sungha, i'm a very old dude. Probably 3.5 times your age and with one foot in the grave. Recently made a very strange decision. Bought a guitar although i have never played once in my lifetime. The last two weeks i'm studying and trying to learn. My fingertips are hurting like hell. If i can play like you it would be a dream. Thanks for not only sharing your talent but also your hard work that has come along with it. Now i know this. Wished i would have started playing so early on in life as you. Greetings from Holland and i'm hoping to progress more with my playing so one day you can see me playing this song with the ease as you play!
Kees Verhagen it’s never too late to start. I wish you the best in your learning journey and there is so much joy in playing your first song and the songs you like. Enjoy :)
never too late to start. these days there are fuckton of tutorial videos. FOR FREE!! it takes years (about 2to4 yrs) to be play like this. but learning guitar is very fun and rewarding on its own.
Same word here. Never too late to start. I started when I was 18 for 2 months and then stopped. Now I've been practicing for about 2 months, 1-2 hours a day and I'm getting better. I don't mind if I'm not better than anyone, but better than myself yesterday. The progress is not fast, but it is going great. I can do some basic fingerstyle. Never give up !! you will reach your goal
Kees, A comment from the heart my man! Kudos! I've played the guitar for years and never reached the level this young fellow displays, nevertheless, I'll go on for it's a matter of the heart, not fingers. Keep on practising as long as you enjoy it! Big hug!
Kees, I am also a very old dude, and for whatever reason, started to play guitar in late January this year, trying to learn fingerstyle. Like an idiot, this is the main song I practice on, and I bought Sungha's tab from his site, and I am really close to getting it. I've spent so far 437 hours (yes I'm tracking trying to see if the 10,000 hour theory is correct! I avg about 4 hours/day) on this song arrangement and I have learned soooo much from his arrangement. I highly recommend it as a stretch goal. I hope to post a video when I am able to perform it. My goal is to learn it pat under 1000 hours. Go for it man!
Just for reference, the original had 2 guys on guitar (one playing a 12 string) .. this kid does it better w/ a single 6 string guitar .. ridiculous talent .. Wow
a2zme lol man, i'm learning this song now and got the picking down, just working on the speed to be up to song speed. I always come back to this cover of the song because it is so incredible and inspriational, makes me wanna jam everytime
I remember when my teacher said, “bring a picture of your idol,” and I printed his picture to show it in the class and explain why I adore him so much. It’s been 5 years and I still Adore Sungha 🥰 He is so talented
I remember watching this about 2-3 years ago when i first started learning fingerstyle and flamenco thinking that its impossible for me to play this but now i learnt it after just 3 days and i cant believe how much ive progressed thank you for inspiring me sungha
Very very good. You nailed it. As a musician of 60+ years, playing guitar and bass, your version is not only in fantastic timing and tempo, precise picking, but what sets you apart is you play it without rushing the your finger picking like most of all the other players covering this song on youtube. You accentuate, push and pause your picking pefectly, and still keep the song consistant...BRAVO!

Man, I remember my dad would always play this song on his guitar when I needed to sleep. He used a very soft voice singing the words... By god.. Sungha, dude, you brought me back to my childhood. Thank you, man.
Like myself , many play guitar ... But very few have this kind of talent & understanding of the instrument . I'm guessing anyone who disliked this doesn't have the first clue on just how much talent & practice it takes to play an arrangement like this ... I'm a fan.
I don't think its that difficult. The reason why most can't play like him is because they don't understand the basics. It would be like trying to write a best selling book without knowing proper grammar.
I have 8 guitars. I locked them all in a closet and told them they cannot come out until they can play like this. The neighbors are complaining about all the noise.
I have 9 guitars who can now stand and hum proudly, as I've beaten them with my fingers until they can play this damn version! Sometimes you just gotta ignore the calls of abuse. They now snap to tune when I command them!
I've watched this kid grow up he has come a long way and deserves every success I would like to consider myself a guitar player . But this guy and a few more like him are just phenomenal . Talent wise

I watched him on TH-cam to see him growing better n better . Two years ago I found that he was going to be in LA with Trace Bundy, I flew there n I was no disappointed he’s very good 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏😜
I always liked his playing the best but I didnt understand How good it really was until I started learning guitar and i realized this guy is playing like every instrument by himself.
Absolutely beautiful young man !! Very talented !
To hear you play it is enough to close my eyes and be mesmerized but to watch how you do it... so beautiful. ;)
A ridiculous talent. Absolute genius.
I aspire to be as talented as this guy, even to possess the slightest of his talent. The intricacy within his playing is so beautiful. It takes a special kind of skill to play like this man plays, what a gifted individual.
Absolutely wonderful! Keep it up and please keep sharing.
That was awesome! Best version I have ever heard!👏👏👏
