Kerry Livgren (Kansas) used the chord progression as a finger picking exercise... one day his wife walked by and said it sounded pretty and he should put lyrics to it... he said, "Nah, it's just an exercise"... well, he did add lyrics and took it to the band... he said, "Guys, here's a little tune I wrote, it's not really Kansas stuff..." - well, the band's jaws dropped and a stunned silence fell over the room... Phil Ehart (Drums) spoke up and said "That's a Hit if I ever heard one..."... and it was and more than that... a timeless Classic.
There are at least a dozen tutorials of this song on YT. Yours is by far and away the best: Easy to understand explanation, moving at a reasonable speed for beginners and a good attitude. Appreciation from Canada. Thumbs up , Subbed.
I subscribed great lesson. Your awesome. By the way you have a wonderful warm smile. Makes a person to stop and listen. You explain things slowly . Thank you.
I am 2 years into guitar. I know a bunch of finger picking songs. Even though the finger picking pattern of this song is easy and the chords are easy, I have difficulty making it sound right. Even if you have slight delay on the first combine finger picking and then speed up the finger picking, if won't sound right of your rythm is not correct.
I tried in vain many times with Dust in the wind. Come across your lesson it surely hold me hand to the success. Many many thanks. Also will leave my hair long so that smart in guitar like yours.
@@theguitarfactoryoc The first video on TH-cam that I watched was Marty Music. He lost me during the introduction of C chord. I got down the A and B strings together. And open D and G string. After that, he was playing these extra notes without telling, so I gave up. It's my fault for not having the actual notes or tabs on me. With your video, it took me an hour less to play the whole chord. You're an amazing person, thank you. There's a reason why I wanted to learn how to play this song. It was "Highlander-Dust in the Wind montage" In this show, Duncan MacLeod, immortal, lost his loved one's who passed away and the song "Dust in the Wind" plays over him. I will share your video to a dear friend of mine :)
One of the best ever
Good lesson, good clarity.
Thank you! 🙏
I spoke English like 50%, and I've been learning way more with you than Spanish tutorials. Thank you!
