      Thanks Matt. Means a lot coming from you. My wife and I eagerly watch all your videos the day they come out. We will be doing the South Island portion of the TA from the 4th-23rd Jan. Would be great if the stars align and you are there then too. Message me if you need any help in Auckland or questions.

    Looking for something to ride to on the bike trainer during our cold Canadian winter, great videos. Having bike toured NZ both Islands, this has brought back so many great memories and familiar places,. I'll ride all to the end before we can get outside again in the spring. Many Thanks.

    I think a fairly common mistake TH-cam travel people make is that they show more of themselves than more of what they see.
    We know what other humans look like, the real value is to see the water, sea, lighthouses, bikes, mountains.
    I wouldn't waste a second of video on anything but that amazing scenery.
    Your videos come closest to ideal.
    Thanks for bringing us along.

      Welcome to TH-cam Bill, I see today is your first day. There have been a lot of requests for this content, but I just delete them. The Internet isn't ready for this level of viewing load.

    Good video. Enjoyed it. Noticed you've fitted Aeroe rack gear. Just fitted it to my dual suspension bike. Very happy with it so far.

    • @cmortimernz
      @cmortimernz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I was impressed by my friends Aeroe rack too. If you check out my Twin Coast video you will see that I've put the same rack on my wifes full suspension bike. I wasn't as keen on the Aeroe 12l dry bag. The material seems to think. I went with a 15L Ocean Pack bag from Aliexpress.

    Great video! The roads there scare me tho, did you have any issues with cars giving enough space?

    • @cmortimernz
      @cmortimernz  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @NothinG21halo I found the roads were really good even though we rode in peak season (January). But I do a lot of road riding, so may be a bit desensitized. The route did a great job keeping you off the main roads.

    Liked the video, I’m doing the TA this year and it’s nice to see what the trails look like. Would you do the Hunua traverse again or go around the coast road? I’m originally a North Shore boy (born in Devonport so nice to see that) so have explored Hunua and the coast before, but not on a bike.

    • @cmortimernz
      @cmortimernz  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good on you. We came into the traverse via the weekday roads (logging trucks on the other road). There were two huge hills. The second one was too much for me with that load. I'd say that it did me no harm walking and the dams made up for it. I'm going to do it again this weekend without bags, and with my e-wife.

    • @cmortimernz
      @cmortimernz  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @scottbeattienet both worked well. Aero is better for a bike woth dropper post or rear suspension. I wasn't a fan of the aeroe dry bag, this one is 15l from aliexpress.

    Much appreciated, mate. I'm looking at doing the TA north island in a few weeks. A friend suggested it necessary to change your bike chain after 90 mile beach. Do you reckon that's necessary? Cheers.

      By the way@@cmortimernz , how did you find traffic in general on some of these hilly / narrow roads? In my experience, a lot of NZ roads aren't great for cycle touring (unless you enjoy getting intimate quarters with a truck and trailer). Thanks again!

    • @cmortimernz
      @cmortimernz  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JoshuaJohnsonOutdoors I found traffic to be really light and good. Surprising for the time of year (January). We were on state highways for a very small amount of time, but the shoulder was wide most of the time. Some times we rode for hrs without seeing a car
