      thank you. there’s many different ways to shoot a bow. I feel this is probably the best for hunting. it’s similar to how Fred Bear did it

    Good stuff. This is exactly how I shoot, old school. I hate that new trad archers are taught 3 fingers under and aiming. Might as well just put a sight on the bow👁.

      I shot Olympic style most of my life, changed to the cant last several years. I really like it. the pistol is a Freedom arms. I trust it over bear spray. thanks for noticing.

    Excellent vid. I am now bending my back a bit ("tactical crouch") and my accuracy has improved significantly. Who built that bow?

  • @draven3838
    @draven3838 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never shot a compound bow that way ,but then I was a longbow and recurve shooter before I ever got a compound,
    I've always done the push pull draw in a slow smooth draw ,however I do snap shoot at rabbits and pheasant

    • @snowwalker8079
      @snowwalker8079  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent, I started out shooting recurves then went to compounds them back to traditional. Wish I never would have left. I picked up some bad habits.

  • @Marianopiras
    @Marianopiras 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You keep your bow well in draw. This is the true instinctive shot. I don't understand how well those who, keeping the bow in traction, bend their head to the left can shoot well.

    I just got a 45# SAS Maverick... Suprisingly hard to draw, but that's just me for now... I like the idea of instinctive shots. You throw a rock instinctively, why not an arrow... Meanwhile, I'm close all around a little bag I've set out against a high bank. Hoping to get much better soon...
    Question though... I shot my first arrows yesterday, and only shot 24... Wore a glove, and my middle finger is still numb from just those few arrows... Holding the string wrong?
    Second question... How do I determine my nock point... I thought I'd do without one, but it seems pretty handy to have after yesterday.
    Thanks for the video... Carry on.

  • @powerslavenegi

    If you have to do so much and in such sequence then it’s not instinctive . Instinctive shooting in true sense means you don’t have so many pre steps because this means you are still doing some kind of gap or split vision or reference shooting . When target is moving and archer is walking he or she has to shoot from a highly diverse terrain and at different angles so there cannot be 1 way to shoot .

    • @snowwalker8079
      @snowwalker8079  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      once you train yourself it becomes instinctive. just like learning to ride a bike. once you learn it you never forget it. it becomes instinctive.

  • @pickin4you
    @pickin4you ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let me put the brakes on this right away. NOBODY can LEARN to shoot instinctively. Look up the definition of the word. Anything that is instinctive to someone comes NATURALLY. This means you are BORN with it. It is not something you can learn. You have it or you don’t. Most don’t. I was born with it and have been shooting instinctively for over 55 years. I am
    Not as good as Howard Hill or Byron Ferguson, but I do not need to know any yardages, or even come to full draw and hold. By the time my index finger hits the corner of my mouth, the arrow is released. I NEVER hold at full draw. It just comes natural to me. Again, nobody can teach instinctive shooting.

    • @snowwalker8079
      @snowwalker8079  ปีที่แล้ว

      I beg to differ and so will thousands of archers. It’s called instinctive archery. It’s as natural as throwing a rock or a spear. We look at where we want the arrow to hit and through practice our brain has a memory we don’t perceive. Same as throwing a rock. Practice makes us better. It is instinctive and some are better than others at it. Even an African lion is taught to hunt by its mother. Yes they are. Orb with instincts to hunt but it’s perfected by practice and by being taught. Take a caged animal born in captivity and set it free in the wild it may starve before it figures out how to successfully hunt. We as instinctive archers don’t aim don’t look at the arrow don’t look at the string. We look at the object… or small spot we want the arrow to go and that is all. So it is instinctive and that’s the word chosen by thousands to explain it best. What other word would you suggest?

    • @snowwalker8079
      @snowwalker8079  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yea I don’t blame you. at the time I didn’t know how to edit a video. I wish I would have deleated it. my purpose isn’t to offend anyone. I have a compound and shot them a lot. I was just trying to point out the differance and hoping to discourage that type of draw. it’s unnecessary with traditional bows.
