When I was younger I wanted to learn how to shoot bows like medieval adventurers, but the local archery club only had, in my young words, 'ugly bows' (aka compound bows). So, I got a pretty cheap recurve bow and a leather glove at a ren fair and I was super excited to try it out. TH-cam wasn't really a thing then, so I just went in completely blind. After a few shots, the string came off and hit me right in the face. Had a red line going right through my face for days and dropped it after that. Was thinking of getting back into it with some better research this time (and a better bow haha), so this video is a great help, thanks!
holy shit, the grab the golf ball, and the pull the elbow back is exactly what I needed to hear. I never realized I was letting my elbow stick out. THANK YOU
Excellent advice!! I agree with every point you made. But I'd like to reiterate your point about starting out with a low draw weight bow. If you are struggling to pull the bow back, it's difficult to focus on shooting. If it's easy to pull, it's a lot more fun too. Great video, thanks for posting.
