    IPSWICH STATION on 10/07/1987
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Ipswich taken on 10/07/1987. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

I remember Ipswich well, from the late 1960s onwards - I lived near Leiston and we used the trains uite a lot. Funny how it never seemed worth much attention in the 1980s, it all seemed so modern and boring. How wrong I was. Super video, thanks for taking the trouble to make it and share it.

Never seen a royal mail coach smack bang in the middle of a rake of passenger coaches.

You can still see them at Inverness, shunting the sleeper stock into and out of the platform, if you are there early/late enough. Not sure if Aberdeen uses an 08 for this as well. Penzance used to until not that long ago but I think Night Riviera is top and tailed these days so no need for a shunter.
Alexandra Palace kind of counts I think, the station backs on to Bounds Green depot and you sometimes see a shunter there moving LNER bits and pieces around.

Needs her White Window Frames back. Proper FP then . Dont forget the oil stained sides, the grime, and plenty of tea stains from the drivers window. Thats how i remember the Deltics . 👍👍😎😎

@@spompey It was electrified Colchester to Ipswich in May 1985 and Ipswich to Norwich May 1987....so this was two months after the full electric service to Norwich began.
The 1987 summer timetable included a couple of weird Ipswich to Blackpool services which were officially rostered for class 150 sprinters but very often a loco and coaches were substituted. I'm assuming the class 31 was on one of these, as it terminated at Ipswich. The diagrammed diesel loco-hauled trains through Ipswich all ran to/from Harwich by this time I think.
