- Stratford Station in November 1986
Upon my visit to several London Termini I ventured out to the busy location of Stratford. Here I witnessed the services whizzing through on their way into Liverpool Street and out of Liverpool Street. Again most of the local services handled with EMU class 315, also EMU classes 302, 317,309 and 312 were seen. 86226 was seen hurtling out of London on her way to Norwich and a double headed class 37 Quarry train from Merehead in Somerset drifts past the station. Locomotive 33015 potters through with a top and tail route learning train. A quick glimpse of the fairly new DLR is seen with B-2-B unit 01 and a very short arrival shot of the London Underground. Still a very popular location with railway enthusiasts as it was then, but so much has changed around the station and area.
Brings back some memories - the times I’ve had to enjoy the mess room on the old ‘Plat 10’… Good to see, thank you for sharing.
You are most welcome and many thanks....mark
7:45 never seen a freight train pass through platform 5.
Also I thought the DLR didn't open till 1987.
A catch eh....Many thanks....Mark
If you look carefully, the seats are all covered - the unit was on test with some one at the manual controls if needed.
@@andrewbrown6786 I thought so :)
@@andrewbrown6786 Yes I did see that, you are quite correct, the "driver" was only there for reassurance........Mark
@@spompey Even now, DLR trains are still staffed with someone qualified to drive if required.
Back when London was not an expensive place to live
Many thanks for watching and your comment, sorry for the late response was away for 2 weeks...best wishes...Mark
Stratford was mostly a waste land of a past industrial at the time
