For me this is the best Piano Concerto that was composed by Reinecke

This concerto begins like the 4th of Beethoven. The theme is sketched at the piano, then fully exposed by the orchestra at its full intensity. The following is different, since the piano comes back after this orchestral exposition. The construction is specially solid. The interventions of the orchestra help defining the overall form. They contain dlelicious details of orchestration. As a whole, the concerto is a masterwork which would deserve to be played in our symphonic concerts.

Reinecke wrote 3 symphonies and 8 total concerto for solo & orch. and all 11 works are equally great! He was just a very tasteful, complete musician!

This piano concerto is not just the best out of the four Reinecke wrote, but also has to be one of the finest concertos ever written.

No. It probably depends on how long your lists are. I can think of quite a few I would put ahead of it.

Reinecke, Moszkowski, Bortkievicz, Wienawski, Paderewski, Beach have all written first rate piano concerti that are worth incorporating in the performance repertoire.

Too bad we're still coughing up Chopin's blood and celebrating the questionable genius of either, Prokofiev, or Rachmaninov. I am disappointed with every new season of my city's symphony orchestra (supposedly one of the world's best), and how they program... again and again and again... the same old shit. I mean this in no offensive way, but I can't wait for these septuagenarian benefactors to die already so that new music can be played by these incredible orchestras, whose musicians' talents (and their paychecks) are being wasted on yet another performance of Prokofiev's 2nd piano concerto, Tchaikovsky's 6th, Mahler's 1st, Shostakovich's 10th, Beethoven's 3rd or 5th symphonies, etc etc etc...

Did Wienawski wrote Piano Concerto, I only know that he only wrote Violin Concerto, because he's a violinist

@@ulengrau6357 Yours is the same boring, droning, immature argument that's been around (to my ears) since the 60's. what happened. The NY Philharmonic brought in Pierre Boulez and it almost destroyed them.
When you grow up, you'll understand.

I spent most of my life playing in symphony orchestra. Never played this huge , marvelous work. In truth, most pianists would find the effort to master this monumental concerto too daunting, when orchestra managers would probably poo-poo it because the audience has never heard of Reinecke. Give them another "Emperor" or Rachmaninoff no 2. Over and over....

They are playing NOW with others endlich .They are a summum of The cello répertoire . Cordialement of France

      Hello too
Do majeur is not a typic romantical ton , the Thema is beautifull without excentricity but the way which the orchestra Come After then go on + strong and + fast ist impressive and a real surprise .a lot of beautifull things as the oboe 's sound and otjers interventions , the greats tuttis ,the échanges with the soloist who use frequently the pédale employed . all theses things are doing that this Reinecke 3 concerto is one of the best piano concerto never composed .excuse- me i am not anglophone but i Hope that we inderstand my feeling . Idem for the second mvt .great pleasure an emotions .Roger Korciaa

Perusal of the score at IMSLP reveals that the tempo of the finale is alternately titled Allegro vivace e grazioso and that there is an alternate, forte ending to the opening Allegro.

The opening measure of the second movement (16:22) seems almost a quotation from the theme in the 2nd movement of Schubert's D 934 (th-cam.com/video/4fskKDq9bgw/w-d-xo.html ), so thereby "Sei mir gegrüsst" too.

Questo concerto mostra una trovata maturità
    artistica e pienamente
    romantico.
    Un Reinecke ispirato.
