Troops loyal to Cambodia's Second Prime Minister Hun Sen and FUNCINPEC troops loyal to First Prime Minister Prince Ranariddh were on Monday (14/7) preparing for a major offensive in the north of the country.
Cambodian People's Party (CPP) forces backed by tanks, armoured personnel carriers and artillery continued to move north on route 68 through Seam Reap province without opposition.
Supporters of FUNCINPEC forces claimed their retreat was a tactical withdrawal.
Meanwhile, urgently needed food aid was delivered to the capital, Phnom Penh Tuesday (15/7), nine days after the shelling had stopped. 3,000 people who had been made homeless by the fighting, were recipients of the aid.

@scorpion H. most of the insurgency and fighting were actualy done by Khmer, lead by Hung Seng. Vietnam only provided the last assault requested by Hung Seng. Watch the video, it was Hung Seng that begged Vietnam to help his country.
@scorpion H. Vietnam did not invaded Cambodia or installed a puppet government as the world had some to believe. Hun Sen was fighting the Khmer Rouge years prior before Vietnam actually send in troops for the final assault which was requested by Hun Sen himself. Hun Sen was not a nobody that the Vietcong put in power as a puppet. He was well educated , and was a young commander, a former Khmer Rouge who defected and split from Pol Pot Ideology. He was a well known soldier and had thousands under his command with a hanful of trusted lieutenants, when he crossed the jungle into Vietnam seeking for assistant. With Vietnam's help he recieved thousands more volunteers and supporters. So who is the Khmer People Liberation Front liberating themselves from? Vietnam has no intention of staying there, for the simple fact that they will not only fight Pol Pot but also Hun Sen forces. Sounds like a bunch of Khmer Rouge adopting a new name in order to appeal to dumb and ignorant Khmer peasants. Because as far as history known, Hun Sen was the real liberator. Let's face it, without Hun Sen, there would be no Cambodia. Why? Because Pol Pot raid and invade Vietnam and kill villagers. The same way Champa did in the earlier centuries. And Champa is no more.
