Retired GC and Sr Construction Inspector, Public Works. It is very unfortunate that customers like this exist. Most of the time, within a few minutes of conversation, you can pickup hints of these kinds of people that you don't want to do business with. I never advertised my business and kept plenty busy with just reference. Although, I declined many contracts after some very short conversations. Your price, the detailed quality work and your very competent crew is a bargain. Just another lesson for all of those doing thier honest best to earn a living. A fine example of how to resolve the difficult situation that every contractor will eventually experience. If this dude would like some cheap labor to work on the side. Have them do the work, then declare that the employer didn't cover the Workers Compensation, matching taxes, unemployment insurance, provide them with paid breaks, etc etc. Homeowners who want to play business games and play the "IM SAVING MONEY BECAUSE IM SMART " need to be taught a hard lesson. This scenario is not a concept. It has happened many times here on the LEFT COAST wacko world of Comifornia. Be well and stay safe. Great job sir.
You got to make it known to your guys that if a customer solicits you to work for him They need to tell you right away Nice work buddy! Love your videos

Some people are morons. They either think they know everything or they don't listen. This explains why the deal fell through. They didn't want to have to deal with this guy. When a deal doesn't go through, I would ask why. At least, I would communicate it on paper with a work order and have him sign it. They can't argue with that. Some will, anyway, though. Kevin's and Karen's! You do excellent work! Thanks again!
21:00 is why I write up a detailed contract so everyone knows what is being done and how much it cost...no extras, because you give a little and they expect more

You can almost guarantee everything that was done on that place went the same way. I highly doubt the same contractor worked twice on that place. It would be great if you could put a warning sign out in front to warn others of what they will encounter if they enter.
Really appreciate your work ethic. Working as a carpenter I ran into those assholes once in a while. Really hard to control your emotions when you get that bs., I respect you.
You absolutely did the right thing; integrity is in short supply with a lot of people. Your business will continue prosper, good people see right through scammers and cheats.
Every detail needs to be in WRITING BEFORE the job even starts !! As one contractor suggested, also add a quick diagram and have the customer initial it. A picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes there are customers trying to take advantage but sometimes there are just true misunderstandings and sometimes people just "forget". That is why a diagram and writing it down helps. Does not have to be elaborate. Thanks for sharing - you have a great team and are the contractor I want to hire!

Sorry he was upset with you, people are nuts. You guys ALWAYS do a great job
Now you know why the previous guy walked off -- this guy thinks it's his duty to just beat everyone up with feigned misunderstandings and unreasonable demands.
I just noticed they're very tall stockade. Fence, privacy fence that goes to show you what type of people, those are. You did the correct thing, though. You made the customer happy even though they will never be happy.
They have probably spent their entire life's miserable and unhappy. I'm glad you were the bigger man.Have a blessed day
Why is having a privacy fence a problem?
This is the reward these people have for you for all your efforts!!! One day they will cross the wrong guy and get what they deserve!!! Took the coffee and doughnuts away huh??? That's toxic!!! Lol
Nice work. I would not have done the extra work unless I was REALLY uncertain about what I told him.
I would have been pist to find her had approached my guys. That's just not right. I guess money makes some people stupid. You did well my man. Thumbs up for you.
As a business owner, we need customers as a group but each customer needs us a lot more than we need them!!
@@toddwheeler1526 thank you sir for the kind words
The other concrete guys ran off red flag right there.
You’re a bargain. I’d have paid you extra for my misunderstanding and just been grateful to find a guy who cares about doing a good job.
I’ve been watching this channel for a long time. I never had a clue that big biscuit is your son.
Yeah, and his name is Jason, Jason Bondo? How about that!
Neither did I now you can see the resemblance.
I also never realized biscuit was your son that's awesome
His older son is called BIG TUNA
You got to make it known to your guys that if a customer solicits you to work for him
They need to tell you right away
Nice work buddy!
Love your videos
These are the homeowners that need a contract spelling out all work in detail. He obviously only heard what he wanted to hear. It appears his wife wears the pants as well. You're a bigger man for completing the work under these conditions. Nice job
So who paid for the extra concrete bottom line he would have to pay for that whether you did the labor for free or not The concrete isn't free
Buddy your work is top notch and the pricing is more than fair. Don’t let fools like that bring you down. You should be proud of yourself. ❤ from 🇬🇧.
If he complains about other contractors, most likely, he's also gonna complain about you.
Hey Bondo. You got way more patience than me. I’d told this unreasonable customer to pound sand. Nice job keeping your cool. Keep up the great content. Snowmobile season is right around the corner.
That guy new exactly what he was doing.
Wow, you are a way better person than I would have been... great work and video...
Everything in writing. People like that spend all their time figuring how to screw others!
You took the high road and did the right thing you will be blessed for sure, it's good to see a contractor with integrity!
And from what you described, your price was very fair. They just didn't have a clue.😢😢😢
My back hurts just watching- big respect to you guys!
Quality work right there .
Builder here! I say kotoes to you. I think if you're in the business long enough someone's going to put it to you Great for still finishing the job!!!
Paper doesnt forget. Glad it worked out for everyone.
Awesome work keep it going man ,there's all kind of people out there most people are good .
You know the owner could tell you are a nice guy, and if he got angry he could get some free work out of you. I cannot believe he was trying to go around your back to hire your guys, what a dirt bag.
There will always be customers like that. You did the right thing. Good work guyes
21:00 is why I write up a detailed contract so everyone knows what is being done and how much it cost...no extras, because you give a little and they expect more
Absolutely what I said and did when I was a contractor
That dude was the relay man goes in house and comes out and relays wife's message lol maybe that's why your bud handed the job to you 😂😂😂 👊👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
you guys take pride in your work - that's an awesome thing!!
It takes a special kind of person to blame their wife
If there was a misunderstanding about the apron, then thats one thing. but I would not have given him the shed pads for free. He sprung those on you the day of the pour. Some people are very unethical. You’re a good man for keeping your cool.
Thank you.
Wonder why he couldn’t get anyone else??
Customers like him give hard working contractors a bad name, they always try to get extra free work. You seem to have a awesome crew. Keep up the good work 👍🏽😎
21:15 When people get greedy, they see and hear what they want...?
You can almost guarantee everything that was done on that place went the same way. I highly doubt the same contractor worked twice on that place. It would be great if you could put a warning sign out in front to warn others of what they will encounter if they enter.
Really appreciate your work ethic. Working as a carpenter I ran into those assholes once in a while. Really hard to control your emotions when you get that bs., I respect you.
Now you know why the other contractor backed out
You absolutely did the right thing; integrity is in short supply with a lot of people. Your business will continue prosper, good people see right through scammers and cheats.
What would I have done ?, put everything in writing, end of story !...
He's just a crappy customer who's trying to work for nothing and its funny all your guys said "no thanks". To take the coffee and donuts away is so funny, it's like the are 12 years old :-)
You are a real professional and just a GOOD person. You went above and beyond on that one. Too bad there is no app to google review a customer to warn other contractors.
The guy is a jerk LOL😂
