You never told us how much psyllium husk goes in your recipe and when you were grinding your pork rinds, you said 3 cups and then when you mixed it up into your yellow ball, you said 4 cups could you re-post that or send a message please
@@daveosburn9227Darn, I must have edited out that. I always put the recipes in the descriptions also with the right amounts of everything. I don't understand the last 30 min. Is that with the oven on or off. I cooked it today, so I'm going to leave the oven off for the last 30 min. Hope it w,rks
I made this today and by golly it’s a keeper! I ran out of pork rinds so I used half parmesan cheese and half pork rinds and it was awesome. Yep… This will be a staple at my house. Thank you.
This recipe looks awesome. Here is a bit of helpful info for baking with psyllium. The bread needs to be 180-200o F to be fully cooked. Once I found this info I’ve never had that wet texture you get from psyllium.
That is a huge tip! Thank you! That explains why it takes so long to bake it. Someone can put a temperature probe in there and wait until it gets there and it should be perfect. Thank you so much! I never thought of checking the temperature on it 😁
Ok, so I just made this. Only thing I did different is add a tsp of yeast. Results: very very good! My first "bread" in 2 years. Only thing I would do is only add 1 stick of butter than 2. Texture is grainy, so small bites. But the flavor was really good
Awesome! Yes, one stick is great unless you want to do what I do and bake or fry the bread without additional butter.... You can blend it up a little more with an immersion blender to make it a little smoother. So glad you enjoyed it!
I’m eating a grilled cheese with this bread. Delicious. Someone may have commented on this, but haven’t seen it. I think adding caraway seeds for a rye bread like flavor would be amazing. Especially for your Reuben sandwich !
Awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know! Always enjoy reading these comments 😁 Yes, that's a great idea and I may try a rye flavoring as well. I'm so glad you're enjoying it! 😁
Thank you so much for all you do!!! I must have 59.5 Keto/carnivore bread recipes saved...but none look like this. I will make your bread instead of just watching & saving bread recipes, one after another... This is the winner!!!
I didn't see the macros on this so in case anyone is interested there is about 58 grams of carbs in the entire loaf. So you can figure out carbs per slice once you know how many slices you are getting out of your loaf. Great video and great recipe, thank you so much for doing this.
@@YarnellCrewNo, I just added it.. It wasn't you 🤣 I normally don't post them because it can vary a lot of times with so many different ingredients. I don't feel like this one should vary much. You very welcome and thank you for watching!
@@southernketo Totally agree it is hard, even pork rinds which most people assume have 0 carbs (and most do), but some companies slip in a dash of sugar or cook it in vegetable oil or whatever and that adds a few carbs here and there. So it really comes down to the ingredients you use. Anyway thanks again for taking the time to create this recipe.
So I made this last night! Texture dead-on like an artisanal wheat bread - or like my husband said, "Is it cornbread?" So thinking maybe some cornbread extract/flavoring might be a total dupe! Mine turned out a bit dense, so next time will try only one stick of butter. Also for those new to pork rinds (like me) you can't get them too fine, and I would suggest trying to sift to remove the bigger kernels or whatever those chunks are called. I think I might try to add a tablespoon of vinegar to help negate the rind taste, and a quarter cup of coconut flour to help with the moisture/density (probably my baking powder is kaput... o well). Overall a winner - taste more like bread than any other straight keto/carni recipe I've tried, and I've tried A LOT! Kudos, Southern Dude!
Awesome! I really appreciate you letting me know! Yeah, make sure your baking powder is not expired, too. Especially if you've been keto for a while, you probably don't use it a whole lot. 🤣 I'm so glad you enjoyed it! If you want a good cornbread: th-cam.com/video/B05S7ewZKG0/w-d-xo.html
@@BecomingHKB Didn't really taste like pork rinds at all - more like corn bread. I did use the vinegar. I used 2 cubes of butter, next time I'm making it with only one. Hubby really liked this best of any keto bread I've made (and I've made A LOT!) Have you made it? Any tips to share?
Thank you so much! I have been very ill and need to eliminate sugar from my diet, have gone keto ❤ and feeling a lot better but was missing bread… now found it!!
You can replace it with chicken flour. Almond flour should work as well, but I haven't tested it. I would use 2 sticks of butter with the chicken flour.
Wow! I am definitely trying this! I have all of the ingredients! I would classify this as a carnivore bread. I love the simplicity! Thank you so much! ❤
I just made this bread this morning. I'm eating it now with collard greens. The bread is delicious. I used my VitaMix blender to make the pork panko and to make psyllium husk powder out of whole psyllium husks. I used my stand mixer to beat the eggs, cream cheese, butter, lemon juice, and sour cream. Then I added the dry ingredients on low speed. Thank you for developing this recipe.
I'm so glad you're enjoying it and I really appreciate you letting me know! I love some good greens! I forget to make them enough... I need to get a Vitamix eventually myself. 😁
Oh Victor, I had to do it (crazy Grammy) I added caraway seeds & 1.5 tsp King Arthur's Deli Rye flavor, for a rye bread like taste) & dill weed. I just put my2nd loaf of bread in the oven. My 1st loaf was "as you prescribed" & off the charts fabulous!!! ...Ruben's anyone? 😋
I agree this bread will be very expensive for one loaf. If you were using it as simply a substitute for regular non-keto bread I don’t think it would be worth it. But if you realise that with all the nutrition in it, one sandwich would be a filling meal, then suddenly it’s not so expensive.
My motto is, pay a little more for great food, or pay A LOT more for doctors and hospitals 😉 It is very filling and people will pay $12 at McDonald's for one meal and not think twice about it 🤷🏻♂️
@@southernketo I say the same thing, pay now or pay later. I had all of the ingredients already in my pantry, they are all staples of a keto/carnivore diet, so I don't consider it expensive at all when "keto" breads out there are about $6 if you can find them, and most still have wheat. This yields a large loaf, and the slices are very filling individually.
@@odettethompson6221thank you! Absolutely! It's a whole lot less to pay for real food than paying the doctors and who can put any price on their health?
Yes, lots of protein in the bread, so it is a non issue. You are eating eggs. Not a problem. Very low carb too. Lots of fat. So, it is a main part of the diet, while getting the bread sensation. Win-win.
I made this bread and OMG it is awesome. I should have used unsalted butter, but oh I am so happy to have a tomato sandwich and grilled cheese sandwich. Thank you, Victor. Can you work on a cinnamon swirl bread now? I would love to have a no or low carb sweet bread to eat.
Hi, there. Thanks for your time and dedication to make this bread. I would like to know how may I substitute the pork rinds because I don’t eat pork. I really need some advice on that, please. TIA. 💖💖💖
You're welcome! You can substitute chicken flour for sure. I think almond flour would work, but I purposely didn't use almond flour because a lot of people can't have it and I have not tested that, so it would be an experiment, but I think it would work. 😁
Awesome! Thank you so much! It's hard to balance being able to explain everything clearly, especially for people that are just starting to cook, and boring people half to death, So I really appreciate your comment. I get more messages and things than anybody would ever know of people that are just starting to cook, or cook keto which is different even if you're already a good cook. Hey, I wish you could too 🤣😁
My suggest you would be to use mostly almond flour and a little coconut flour in there to make up the four cups. Now, I haven't tried this, but I believe it would work pretty good. Please let me know if you decide to try it so that I can let other people know as well 🙏🏻😁
I can’t wait to try this. I was just looking for a bread recipe with pork rinds. You must have read my mind. I can’t like the egg white bread for nothing and can’t used almond flour. Thank you! 🎉
Awesome! I wanted to make one without almond flour because there are so many people that can't use it or don't want to use it, so I was trying to get something closer to Carnivore but still have a great bread. You're very welcome! I hope you enjoy it 😁
We're in the same boat - I have never met an egg white bread that wasn't a cousin to styrofoam, and I can't eat almond. I am so excited for this recipe! 'Mater sammies here we come!!!
Absolutely! If you want it to taste more like bread, add one packet of yeast to it. I didn't use that in my ingredients, because I didn't want anyone to think that it was necessary for the recipe. Hope you enjoy that BLT!
Hey, we have the same toaster. This bread will toast up so fabulous. Beefsteak tomato is perfect for that tomato sandwich with LOTS of zero carb mayo...your Duke's recipe!
I rarely get to use that toaster 😁 I would recommend it with the one stick of butter, instead of the two but I have toasted plenty of this bread with two sticks in there as well, but it is kind of scary because it bubbles up. I would definitely recommend a toaster oven over to this for safety reasons, but I haven't burned down the house yet 🤞🏻
Gosh I followed the recipe to a tee and it came out bouncy and moist even after the extra 10 min. I used 1 stick of butter. The only thing I did different was I used an immersion blender because I couldn’t get rid of all the lumps from a room temp cream cheese. I was hoping for a dryer and crunchier bread. Any suggestions?
That's not going to work. You could substitute chicken flour or probably almond flour, but I haven't tried the almond. If you don't like pork rinds, I would try this. Not as bready, but a great option: th-cam.com/video/Ms36vuc_Shw/w-d-xo.html
I don't know if I'll like how this bread tastes, but I certainly appreciate all the work that went into creating the recipe. And, I can tell you spent a lot of time making a fun, interesting video too. Good job!
How should this be stored? On counter or in refrigerator? I toasted it and put peanut butter and chocolate zero orange marmalade on it. Delicious. Thank you for this fabulous recipe!
Definitely refrigerate it. I used that bread container like I showed in the video, but someone else said you can put it in a gallon freezer bag also. If you don't want to eat it all at once, you can always cut it up and freeze it and that works awesome! You can get a piece or two whenever you want it. You're welcome!

Could you use beef gelatin instead of cream of tartar powder? Trying to eat as much collagen as possible, and love this recipe because the use of the pork rinds! Genius! Also wonder if you could replace the cream cheese for cottage cheese for more protein. I have to try it!

I made this read today with 2 sticks of butter…turned out great. Put mine in a metal sandwich loaf pan with a slide on lid. Temp checked after 60 minutes 200*F on the money & the loaf filled the pan just right. Forgot the lemon juice but it didn’t affect as far as I can see. Great taste & very rich with 2 sticks of butter & a bit greasy but looks & taste like bread with the ‘bread’ mouth feel. 👍👍. I wonder if you could sub 1:1 egg with sour dough starter discard, maybe 1 cup to get that sour dough taste.
Awesome! Sounds like you did it perfect! I did the 2 sticks of butter for 2 reasons, one was to make sure a sandwich was enough to make an entire meal and keep you full. It's not necessary, just adds some fat. Maybe so, I've never tried it, but I don't think it would hurt the results enough to not try it. 😁 Let me know if you do 🙏🏻
Looks really good, Victor. I have everything for the recipe. I think I will try a half recipe as I don’t have enough eggs. I have small loaf pans and will see how they come out.
Finally got to make this. (In the process of moving so I wasn’t buying as much food and only had partial pork rinds, so I used the other example in the comments and used part Parmesan cheese) - Plus didn’t have enough for my loaf pan and made 9 muffins instead. Cooked in about half the time and worked well. Already tested some tomato cheese toast, some avocado toast and an egg & cheese sandwich with it. Great texture and enjoyable. Thanks, man.
Wow! This looks just like wheat bread! I will have to get some pork rinds to grind up. I usually use pork king good unseasoned pork rind crumbs in stuff, but i don't have 4 cups of it. I will sure give this a try! Loved the opening music!😁
Thank you so much! 😁 Yeah, I always use the Sam's club kind, but it has smoke flavor added, so I got these instead. They were 50 cents a bag and four bags was exactly 4 cups ground up..
I'm not sure if it is just the acid or the acid plus enzymes that are in the fresh lemon juice that help the purpling. It could be the brand of the psyllium husk also 🤷🏻♂️ I haven't really had an issue with that brand. If you try it, I would love to know the results 😁
I just made this, and it cost me about $11.00. I'm in Southern California. It is a bit expensive, especially with egg prices on the rise. At least it's Keto. I'm making excuses, I know... I cut the bread thinner than what regular bread is cut, and I only use 2 slices a day. I'm wondering if it freezes well... It tastes pretty good, and since I haven't been eating bread lately, it's so nice to have again, so thank you!
Even at your prices, I don't think that's very expensive. That and some meat and it's a full meal. People will spend $15 for a meal at McDonald's... I cut it thinner as well. I would cut it first and then freeze it so that you can thaw out as many pieces as you want at a time. It freezes perfectly. 😁

Well this is the after bake update. The texture of bread is fantastic it actually rose in the oven which I could not believe because it’s not yeast bread. Overall it’s the best I’ve done. Couple things… first I baked it in a 350 oven for 50 minutes and then after reading the comments I ended up testing the internal temperature and at that point it was only 110° so I continued baking for an additional 20 minutes at 350 and then I shut the oven off and opened the door and let it sit in the oven for 30 minutes. The internal temperature was then 195 I think that part came out great. My question is I only used one stick of butter and it is so kind of oily that it’s just everywhere and even after it cool if you touch the bread with your hand your hand is just as if you dipped it into a bowl of oil so I’m wondering do you think it’s possible to maybe only use a half a stick of butter to try to cut down on the amount of the oily texture? other than that this is definitely fantastic and the taste was extremely good. I have been reading where others have added a little yeast to it not to make it rise but to give it that yeast flavor which would almost make it just like a home baked flour based loaf of bread.
Sounds really good! The couple things I would change is bake it until it gets to that 200 degree mark before you turn the oven off. Even when I use two sticks of butter, it absorbs it. I would try the one stick first and that technique next time, or use that technique with a half a stick and see what happens. When I was early on and testing it, if I didn't bake it long enough it stayed oily and never absorbed it all
Thank you so much! Even though Care Bear fur fiber is negative carbs and gives you special powers, I just felt like people would have trouble finding it 🤷🏻♂️🤣
This sounds like a great recipe, but I was wondering if I could use something else in the place of the pork rinds, they are very salty and unfortunately I am very salt sensitive, do you think that there is something else I could use in place of the pork rinds to get the same quality of bread? Thanks so much.
You can definitely use chicken flour. I think almond flour and coconut flour blend would probably work as well, with somewhere between the one and two sticks of butter, same with the chicken flour. I haven't tested it, but it should work. Stay tuned. I have a solution coming up in the next two or three weeks that I think will work great 😁

I never thought of checking the temperature on it 😁
Thank you for this tip! I had a hard time gaging when it was done; it turned out fine, but I will definitely use a temp probe in the future!

@@YarnellCrewabsolutely! It always pays to read the ingredients... You're very welcome and I hope you enjoy 😁

Win-win.

I did sub Zantham gum for the phylum powder, cause I was out. Seemed to work just fine:)
Awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know! I'm a big fan of xanthan Gum too. I appreciate you letting me know that that works. 😁🍞🙏🏻
Hi. How much Zantham gum did you use? Thanks in advance.
@@charleyb8423Great question! My guess is about a teaspoon, but let's see
How eggy was it?
@@claudiaghidella2255to me, not at all
Oh I so want to love this! I tried it and the texture is perfect but I can’t get over the pork rind flavor… I just don’t like that flavor and it almost turns my stomach but the mouth feel is so perfect for sandwiches, toast etc! Is there anything that I could possibly use instead of the pork rinds?
What kind of pork rinds did you use? You can substitute chicken flour. You can buy that or I have a video coming up on how to make it. I believe almond flour would work fine also, but I haven't tested that.
I just used generic Great Value and some Macs I think. Are there milder tasting pork rinds?
@@BecomingHKByes! I have a video coming soon from a company that I am working with. It's also less expensive than buying them in the bags. You may be able to find them locally around you from vendors, etc. They are normally fresh and much better than the ones that are mass produced in the bags. The brand I used in the video is very mild, and there are very many different names on those, but the bags look the same.
@@southernketothanks I’ll look forward to your video coming up… didn’t notice what brand you used in this one so I guess I’ll go back and look lol 😂 I do love this bread. Thin sliced and toasted and I ALMOST don’t notice the porky taste 😂
Thanks so much! @@BecomingHKB you won't taste these 😁
I need to find an alternative to the pork since mom is kosher but I’m gonna try this. Thanks!
You're welcome! Almond flour with a small amount of coconut flour may work fine. It would be an experiment, I have never tried it, because I was trying to do one that was nut free and close to carnivore.
@@southernketo Do you think an unflavored protein powder would work? I may experiment with that. Thanks for all your great recipes!
@@lelanacrofthonestly, I don't do a lot with protein powder because I try to do ingredients that everybody can find easily without having to order a lot of things. Please let me know if you try this so I can let other people know.
@@lelanacroftone person said she was gonna use chicken skins/rinds for hers, since she doesn't eat pork either. You might try that route 1st, since it's the closest thing to the pork rinds to substitute.
@@leahrowe847yep! Good idea 💡😊
Genius!! It looks great! But I hate pork rinds 😭 is there any other product to use as a substitute?
Thank you! You could use chicken flour or you could probably use almond flour, but I haven't tried that yet. If you do, I would probably do at least the 1 and 1/2 sticks or two sticks of butter to make up for the fat in the pork rinds. My wife HATES pork rinds and she LOVES this bread. I don't really get a pork rind taste out of it.
There are many other recipes for keto bread and some for carnivore.
@@gsts379you know what there's not? THIS one 😁
Can’t wait to try this. I love your recipes!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 😁🍞🙏🏻
Have you tried using your new diy flour in this recipe? Just wondering if you have & how it turned out? I'm tempted to give it a whirl.
I haven't yet... Planning on doing it after the holidays, but if you do, let me know what you think. Had a lot of people in the FB group do it in lots of different recipes 😁
Bestie!!! I dont eat pork but I may try it with some ground up chicken skin snacks (Flock). Your bread looks great!!!
😁 You can for sure do that! You could probably use a combination of almond flour and a little coconut flour to do it as well, but I have not tried it. Thank you! 😁
@@southernketo thanks for the tip!
@@ginafumi3010you're welcome!
@@southernketoomg I wasn’t a fan of pork rinds and was going to completely dismiss this recipe - but I could totally try with chicken skin!
That’s a great substitution!!
I found you through Wes's Highfalutin low carb. I was going to look for your site but your site just popped up. I'm Carnivore and I think this is close enough to use for a good burger or brisket sandwich. Going to be checking your other recipes to see what else I can incorporate into my carnivore life style.
Awesome! I do a lot that you could convert to carnivore. Maybe not the desserts, but definitely some of the rest. I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and this bread will definitely hold up to whatever you want to throw on it 😁
it looks delicious, has same texture as Ezikiel bread
Thank you! That's what I was going for! We grew up eating wheat bread and when I got older I found Ezekiel bread. That was exactly what I wanted to do duplicate 😁
Gonna make this today. They say hurricane Helene is headed to FL. So we'll have some Reubens and pray. Can't wait to try this!😊
I hope you enjoy it! We're going to have done bad weather here in SC too... I'm excited to know what you think!
Here in Canada we don't have sticks of butter. How many oz is that please?
Oh, sorry. It's 4 oz.
@@southernketo Thank you. Have everything but time right now so tomorrow will make it. Looking forward to some sandwiches.
@@debbiekirk7099Let me know what you think! 😁
We do have sticks, but the price for wrapping them, Jack's the price way up there. Just saw the butter today at the Metro. I cut mine in four pieces lengthwise. That's so I can put it in my 4oz butter keeper containers.
Perfect@@carolcote2196 ! A lot of times I will do the same thing. I usually get the Kerrygold or the Aldi kind, but I will get the blocks from Sam's also.
The internal temperature was then 195
I think that part came out great.
When I was early on and testing it, if I didn't bake it long enough it stayed oily and never absorbed it all
Lol... Care Bear fur fiber! 😂 Love the intro music!!
Thank you so much! Even though Care Bear fur fiber is negative carbs and gives you special powers, I just felt like people would have trouble finding it 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Dang! And I just bought a new bag of Unicorn horn powder for one of those other keto bread recipes…..bring on the ‘maters!
@@siddie27 Well, make that other one too and let me know which one you like better 😁
Stay tuned. I have a solution coming up in the next two or three weeks that I think will work great 😁
I made the bread recipe and I have found my heavenly bread that I have been looking for. It was simple and came out just as you stated in your video. I have a special spot on my fridge for the bread recipe so I can read it when I make my next loaf which will be soon. I have enjoyed your cooking videos. I am watching your older videos at the moment and trying some recipes. I enjoy your sense of humor as well and your special yellow bowl comments (ha ha ha)
Wishing you continuous success. Also a special thanks to caring for doing this much needed keto type recipes .
I love your comments so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying all my videos and thank you so much! It makes me happy that you put it on the fridge. That means I got a winner! 😁
Anything to replace pork rinds?
You could use chicken flour or almond flour may work, but I haven't tested that.

I can hardly wait to make a peanut butter sandwich with my homemade peanut butter and this bread!
Awesome! What do you use to make your peanut butter with?
@@southernketo I just grind up peanuts that I get off Amazon in a food processor. I use Wegotnuts brand that comes in 5 pound bags. 3 cups of peanuts makes about 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter. Lately I've been adding 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt. YUM!

Man I have some bad memories from making bread recipes with psyllium husk but I’ll still give yours a try. A half recipe at least lol. All of my past ones from other ppl turned purple and have a weird sponge texture
The lemon juice helps tha color 😁. You can add a little extra if you want to also...I hope you enjoy it😁
Just curious: Why do you use baking powder PLUS baking soda and cream of tartar?
I just found when testing it, that that gave me the best results. The baking powder has those 2 ingredients plus cornstarch. So, I tried just baking soda and cream of tartar and I added just baking powder. Then I tried a combination. Then, I finally settled on the combination PLUS the liquid acid, the lemon juice. It's just what worked the best for me .😁
Okay Victor, I'm going to make this today and use that jar of pork rind crumbs I bought and never opened. 😅 I need eggs and a lemon. You rock! Do people still say that? 😅
Awesome. See, it was there for a reason 😁 Thank you, and I don't know about some people, but I say it! 🤘🏻🎸
I made this today, and I love it! Next time I will cut down on the butter to see how it affects the moisture; I used one and a half sticks this time. I love the taste, the solid brown crust, and how easy it is to pull together. I had all of the ingredients except that I only had whole psyllium husks, but I just pulverized some of it in a grinder, and it worked just fine. Will definitely use the tip above to use a thermometer. Thank you so much for this recipe! I hate the "best keto bread" that tastes like memory foam! 😂
Awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know 😁 You nailed it by grinding it up! You're very welcome! Comments like yours make this all worth it! 😁 I had to make my own because I've never found one like I wanted.. so glad you love it 😁
It looks perfect! Quesrion, is it salty? The pork rinds I find are salted. I just wonder if that shows in the bread?
I don't think it is at all.. I think because of the addition of all the other ingredients and I even add additional salt and I don't think it is. You could leave out the extra salt if you want and it would be fine. 😁
Also, maybe make sure you use unsalted butter? That may help if you are concerned with it being too salty tasting. 🤷🏿♀️
@@LoriWellmantrue! Wasn't salty to be, but different brands of pork rinds have different levels of salt also. Solution coming soon 😁
