If you notice the morning glucose spike on this video's thumbnail, that had an interesting cause. I was pulling on a t-shirt as I was walking out of my bedroom and hit my elbow on the doorframe hard enough to leave a mark. It definitely rated a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale and per the Levels software for my continuous glucose monitor, I had a 36 mg/dL spike in my glucose. Wild stuff...
Also, the reason I do these glucose tests on some videos (even though I'm not diabetic) is that I feel that these tests are still relevant. First, if a product spikes my glucose as a non-diabetic, I think it would be concerning to a diabetic. Second, maintaining a level blood glucose is important to metabolic health whether your diabetic or not.

I'm really curious as to why you're doing a glucose at one hour though?

    • @SeriousKeto

@@redbirdacreswi The continuous meter collects measurements continuously. I've discovered, though, that I peak at around one hour, so I validate the measurement with a blood glucose monitor to show that (for people who want to test themselves but don't want the expense of a continuous glucose monitor).

I am Canadian and don’t have focus or keto mojo. Only a plain blood glucose monitor. I am Canadian so I am familiar with Mmol vs the points Americans use. I’m not diabetic but I think it’s like 4-7 points that’s normal. Would you have any idea how big a spike in mmol would be considered insignificant vs moderate ? Maybe like 2/10’s of a point?
Btw I pronounce it tumor-ic too. I’ve never heard anyone pronounce the “r”. It’s like necklace, very few people say it how it’s spelled. Everyone says neckless.

My new doctor did my blood-work and said my sugar is "normal", and my cholesterol is "good". (This was right around Valentine's Day). I think it depends on the person as to how one's body reacts. I admit I use it as a crutch. But, when I started Keto on August 30, 2021, I had someone drop me off in front of whatever store I needed to shop in. If there weren't any electronic shopping carts, I'd call them to come and pick me back up. Now, I drive myself to the store. I don't have the inflammation reaction to those ingredients and am not a zealot about dirty keto. 2 slices, maybe, in a week, usually on a very Chef'y (Kerrygold butter, fancy deli cut cheeses, flake salt in the butter) grilled cheese with the Lewis plain is next level! On top of one toast I put scrambled egg and top the other toast with a soft boiled egg. By morning I did not feel good at all. Trying to figure it out I tested my glucose and it was 130. My chest hurt and my glucose stayed at 130 for hours before it started to come back down some...115. I drank 2 glasses of water forced myself to exercise and go walking. I've been Keto for 6 years now and have tried just about every "Keto" bread on the market (and just about every other Keto product for that matter). This video affirms my experience that Keto bread is not a "set it and forget it" Keto food item when it comes to reliance on net carb theory. I've experienced the same with Carb Smart tortillas as well. I tell all people who go Keto to test, test, and test some more when it comes to different kinds of food. Make notes of what works best for you regarding glucose spike management. You will also find that everyone is a little different. What might spike my blood sugar, may not spike yours, and vice versa. Conversely, some foods you think for sure will spike you don't, while others you think are safe do. The same caution regarding net carb theory should also be applied to Keto sweets, in my experience. An interesting variable you could add to the bread tests is take a glucose reading with eating the bread alone, then add a protein to it and test again. I realize that is a sandwich test, but the protein sometimes helps to temper the spike. You may have already done some of this on other videos. Enjoy your content.

I've tested, and for me, Dreamfields works. But, I still want to try both Steve and Keto Asian's pasta when I can afford the specialty ingredients.

To my surprise after eating one with butter, two cups of coffee with heavy cream, my blood sugar rise was only 17 points. Just curious if that is a good weekend breakfast treat for the diabetic folks, although the total carbs are 26 gms, fiber 2 gms and sugar 6 gms, total calories 330.

I've been pre diabetic for several years now and even before being diagnosed as such, I noticed that I had extreme thirst for no apparent reason. I suspected a blood sugar problem and the doctor confirmed it. High thirst is an indication of it , even if it's not constant. Mine is dependent on what and how much of certain things I eat. Now a couple of months ago I saw a yogurt drink that claimed to have no sugar. I bought it and had about half of it, even though it tasted very sweet to me. Now other times when I had extreme thirst ,it went away in several hours or at the most, 4- 7 days. This drink has allulous ( not sure how it's spelled) . My extreme thirst lasted one month. I was afraid I had become diabetic. I had to cut everything out of my diet that might raise sugar. Thank God that I was able to restore my condition back to pre diabetes. God helped me again and I'm grateful to him.

I have a loaf of the keto bread with the black label. I don't trust that it's as keto friendly as it claims to be, largely because it has so many ingredients. It's low carb friendly, but it's definitely not clean keto. Personally, that doesn't bother me, as I do dirty keto. What matters to me is carb counting, as my main reason for doing keto is weight loss. This for me falls under an in moderation treat. I freeze my bread in ziplock baggies with two slices each. As a trucker, easy, on the go options help me to stay accountable. I live in my truck full time, so I don't have some of the luxuries that many people take for granted when it comes to food prep, cooking, and dish washing. I did find a 4 ingredient keto bread microwavable recipe recently, and am planning to try it when my loaf runs out since this has things in it that aren't very good for keto.

So interesting I was wondering if you had tested this and of course you had. I discovered Lewes bread in another town since we didn’t have it here. I love it and it never even registers on my cgm. Any of the flavors no response. I stock up and save the ends for hot dog buns. They make buns but the ends are nice and thin which I like. Very interesting that you spiked on Hawaiian. There are so many things that don’t spike you but send my glucose through the roof. We are all so different. I love my cgm. BTW their seed bread is my absolute favorite. Thanks for the review. I didn’t remember seeing it before.

They sure do love them some soybean oil at the industrial food like substance factories. It's like Frank's Hot Sauce...they put that in everything.

I am a T2 and I have not found a single "keto" bread that does not spike me just about the same as normal bread. Aldi's Fit and Active 45 cal bread acts exactly the same to my blood sugar as the keto bread. Bread is thee hardest thing for me to give up. Would be so nice to have a real keto bread that was really non-spiking. Net carbs pretty much mean nothing. I've tried so many homemade low carb/keto bread recipes and even created some, but the problem is that eating any bread... low carb also... causes weight gain for me. Hard to find a way to enjoy life without bread of some sort. I haven't yet.
