I agree! We love this recipe, as well, though we only make it a few times a year because it's tough to get to Santa Monica Seafood, and crab is not cheap. But it's always a worthwhile treat when we do!
This was FABULOUS! Although I have to admit I made a couple _'slight'_ changes. Even though I had the dehydrated onion pieces, I also had a small shallot I needed to use up, so I minced half of that into it. Also I'm a big fan of _'Old Bay Seasoning'_ when it comes to anything seafood, so I sprinkled a little of that in as well. (about 1/8th teaspoon). PERFECT! I'm REALLY glad I found your recipe. You've earned my thumbs up and a new subscriber. THANKS!
I can't be certain, but I think a friend of mine shot that Elephant picture. _Is it signed... 'Hosko'?_ BTW? I'm making this salad with crab & grilled marinated octopus tomorrow. I'm here for the dressing, and yours looks good. THANKS!
No, the elephant picture was painted by Mark King, an impressionist. I hope you like the dressing. We tend to make this salad about once every month or two, and we have not found a better dressing.
undoubtedly NOT a SF creation. The Davenport most likely took the idea from Portland or Seattle the owner passed through moving up to Washington from San Fran. Dungeness are literally named from a location/town on the straight of juan de fuca, and along with salmon were a staple of the diets of people there even before westerners arrived. Not hard to figure out the most likely location for its incorporation into a salad.
Nobody knows where he got the idea, but he first made it famous at the Davenport in Seattle, and as of this date, I believe that Scoma's in SF makes the best Crab Louis.
what a teddy bear! love this recipe!

We're glad you like them. We tend to make Crab Louis about once a month or so. We really enjoy it.
I WANT THIS NOW
Glad you like it. Well, as you can see, it's not that hard to make. The trick is to find a place with the fresh crab.

@@steveandyoung The Davenport isn't in Seattle, it's in Spokane.
@@sirosis7858 OK, I have not been to Seattle or Spokane (or almost anywhere) for about three years now.
Your ovens don’t match brah
And why should they? Each serves a different function.
